We have been taking our dogs to Duncan Manor for the past 8 1/2 years. (We followed our Vet of 20 years to this practice).\nIt was a wonderful, friendly place. The staff was great and everyone seemed genuinely interested in the wellbeing of our dogs. \nAll that changed when they became part of the VCA franchise. \nStaff began to disappear, the atmosphere went from warm and caring to sterile. The prices were raised with no notice, it just wasn't the same place. \nWe stayed because our beloved Vet was there as well as the front office staff who were like extended family members. \nUnfortunately, as time passed it has only gotten worse.\n After visiting today for a routine appointment we did not see a single familiar face. \nWe left with an empty uneasiness that can only be described as a feeling of sadness and betrayal. \nAs much as we adore our Vet, we are moving on.\nWe want to find a place where pets and their owners are still treated with care and respect. We view our dogs as cherished family members, not as the VCA system does- merely furry sources of income....\n\n

We started going to DMAH five years ago and have watched a dozen doctors leave during that time. The hospital unfortunately has followed the path of a lot of self destructive businesses today. At some point they lose their way and allowed ""profits"" to guide them instead what made them original successful. Subsequently you end up with ridiculous pricing and an inexperienced staff or even worse an incompetent staff that destroys your once reputable business. \n\nMy dog has been misdiagnosed twice know costing me thousands of dollars for incorrect treatments and hospital stays plus the mental anguish I could not put a dollar value on. ""Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me"" ...

It use to be a great place to take your pets. Ever since being turned into a VCA hospital it is horrible! Many of the long term staff has left and prices are way too high!

My husband and I have always taken our pets to VCA. We were introduced to VCA in California and we have always taken our cats and dogs there and have had a wonderful experience up until transfering care to a VCA in Pittsburgh, PA. We took our 8 month old Corgi to VCA Duncan Manor to be spayed and was shocked to be quoted over $550 for the spay. In all my years of having pets, I have never been charged so much for a routine spay (NOT including her routine vaccines that we paid over $100 for a few months prior to her spay) When we brought her home the day of her surgery, I was horrified to see had an incision over 8 inches long closed and poorly closed with over 20 staples. On top of being shocked with the size of the incision, most of them were already falling out!!!! Within the first 12 hours of having her home, with a collar on to keep her from chewing on them, we had 3 staples fall out leaving over an inch and a half without proper closure. The other staples that had not fallen out, were barely in her skin or only in one side of the incision. We called the following morning wanting to speak to the vet and she took over 5 hours to return our call. After speaking with her, she said we ""could"" bring her in and they could replace the staples. Talk about tramatic for our poor dog!!!! We have decided that we will not be returning to VCA Duncan Manor and I will be writing to them and including pictures of their horrible, botched staple job.
