.

This was the first time that my wife and I flew with United. We live in Texas but were heading off for our honeymoon from Indianapolis to Houston. Right away we started having a horrible experience with United. I understand that flight schedules can change rather often, however, in this case it was very unfortunate. First, we get a notification stating that our 9 am flight time was bumped up (the morning after our first night married) to 6am. Meaning that we now needed to get up before 4am to catch our flight. This was understandable and ok however after arriving to the airport on this new schedule the flight kept getting delayed until it was pretty much back to the original time. We almost missed our shuttle that was taking us to our cruise. Luckily, we made it and all was well.

The true issue didnt begin until our trip home. Our cruise shuttle dropped us off at the Houston, Tx (IAH) airport a few hours early. My wife and I waited and waited, as our flight was delayed several times. After waiting for about 5 hours we come to find out that our flight was canceled. I understand that due to weather flights can be cancelled or delayed. So, we went to the service center expecting to transfer our tickets to rental cash so we could just drive to DFW (home). The representative let us know that there would be no refunds for our flight. ARE YOU KIDDING?! So, we just lost the money and United doesnt have to fly or even make any kind of effort to help us at all?!? That is the most RIDICULOUS thing I have ever heard!! Why on earth would I EVER fly United ever again, you are thieves!! So, out of this deal you dont have to spend any money on fuel YET you take our money as if you did!?!?! Flying United is not a guarantee that you even get to your destination! I have never had this kind of trouble with any other airline! Other airlines have always worked with me in the case of delay or cancellation. The representative seemed dumbfounded and confused about what to suggest to us, THERE WAS NO PLAN OF ACTION for all of the passengers on that flight?!? The representative also said that there would be no guarantee that we could get on board for the next two days! So, my wife and I decided that the best thing to do would be to just rent a car (shelling out another $200) and just drive to DFW. We asked for our luggage and Oh OUR LUGGAGE HAD ALREADY BEEN SENT TO DFW?!? So now, not only do I have to DRIVE MYSELF to my destination but I also have to make a trip to track down my luggage?! Other airlines deliver your luggage at their expense! But NO not United, United makes it as inconvenient as possible!! Frustrated (and broke) we rented a car and wouldnt you know it literally clear weather all the way to DFW, even though our flight was cancelled due to weather.

Again, I understand that due to the nature of flight delays and cancellations are common but I have never had an airline handle it so poorly! I will NEVER fly United again. You would NEVER go to the grocery store, buy bread and then have the clerk say; oh, you cant have this bread due to something out of your control, but were still going to take your money.. oh! and you have to purchase peanut butter and jelly too.
