My daughter was an infant and I had to switch pediatricians for insurance purposes. I was told this was the best doctor in town. My daughter got very ill and I made an appointment. They told me my daughter had a virus. The next week while my daughter was still very ill my daughter's temperature spiked. I called ask a nurse and they told me to call the doctor again and make another appointment so I did. I went back in and she told me that my daughter had a ""virus on top of a virus."" That Friday, after I got home from work and my daughter was still very high temperature, not eating, etc. I called ask a nurse again they told me to immediately call the doctor. I did and Dr. Ostrower was on call. She called me back and her response was very terse ""this is not an emergency your daughter has a virus you are waisting my time do not call again."" Later that night my daughter's temperature spiked again so I called ask a nurse and told them the response I got from the doctor. They told me under no circumstances to call that doctor again and to take her directly to the emergency room. I took her to the emergency room and after an IV and no response from my baby they immediately admitted her. After many, many tests they finally found that she had RSV, which was rampant and there were many infant deaths from that year. My daughter was put on a ventilator and was in the hospital for a week. I was so perplexed by this doctor's antics, misdiagnosis, and horrible bedside manner. She is actually VERY lucky that my parents happened to come up to the hospital and give me time to leave to take a shower and get new clothes when she came by to do her rounds because they probably would have had to arrest me. Thankfully, my daughter's former pediatrician was doing rounds in the hospital the next day and asked the nurse to ask me if she could see her. I told her of course since you are her doctor again.
