I've visited this clinic twice and consider the care average at best. The staff is relatively friendly but the bedside manner of care providers is lacking. The time spent to receive test results from this office is excessive.\n\nLast week during a visit the care provider had a horrified look on her face when giving me an uncomfortable diagnosis. This hasn't been a helpful memory while waiting for my test results that were faxed to their office two days ago, and still no follow up.

I have had nothing but good experiences with this clinic and, especially, its newest member, NP Kaitlin Haws. Everyone has been patient with me when I've been confused, Kaitlin has taken the time to explain things, to hear my concerns, and to follow up.\n\nI hope that when I'm no longer on the Oregon Health Plan, I can continue to receive services at this clinic.

I have gone to the doctors at this clinic for over 20 years. \nThe only time I had a complaint was when a new doctor joined them and I chose her. I was 15 minutes early and waited til 30 minutes after my scheduled time. I received my co-pay back and told them I would never use her again.\nNow, I use one of the nurse practitioners and have never had better care or service with any doctor I have gone to. She even calls me at 7:00 to give me the results of tests.\nI have never been rushed and always had all my questions answered.

I have been going to this clinic for 2 years now and the doctors are always in a rush and never have time to fully examine and discuss medical attention to their patients. The receptionists are lazy and unprofessional. three weeks ago i had a scheduled two o' clock appointment however when I arrived there was a sign on the receptionist's window that read ""meeting be back in 5"" I waited for thirty min... they were thirty minuets late to their own appointment?! >:(

My family has been going here for years but our two main doctors have since left. We'll see how the appointments go. I brought my daughter here once and rather than tell me over the phone that she didn't need any new shots, I came in and then got charged $30 for her height and weight when she is %100 covered by the military insurance, Tricare. The receptionist was about as personable as a dishrag over the phone. We'll see how the doctor is.... I really miss Kaiser

Told by a friend this was a great place to get medical attention. The fat girl at the front desk was very unwelcoming. As I was waiting, I overheard the other girls gossiping about the doctor not bringing his wife to the christmas party, how drunk he was and his intentions to spend the night with someone else. I walked out.

Went in for a foot referral, lot of pain. Doctor refused to give a referral and told me to come back when my foot was infected! Refused to help me, wasted my time - and charged me a bundle on top of it! Terrible place.

Hey there if you are looking for a great place where people really care... this is the place. Anna Urbanc and her assittance are the best. Anna is up todate and takes her time in addressing all of your concerns, her ast. is also friendly and willing to help answer any questions. They are the best in giving a call back in a timely manner. Can't go wrong with this group, the front desk is also great.... book keeping... well they are just working in a tuff eco. time for all of us. So be prepared to pay up front for all services. P.S. the lab guy is very efficient. I found my experience there to be A plus.

Left Mt. Tabor for a while, because my doctor went to Bridge City......but after going there, I have decided to return. Not going to write derogatory things about that clinic, just going to say, it is good to be back to people who REALLY care!

Anna Urbanc was not only thorough and efficient, but also friendly and comfortable to be around and ask questiuons of. Advice was practical and well informed. This is a clinic with a ""real people"" rather than an assembly line atmosphere. I feel a strong sense of confidence in Anna which is important as I go through menopause and approach those ""later in life"" health concerns.

I have a lot of health concerns and have been treated well here. Libby Costello-Guard is exceptional! Don't be thrown off by the other negative remarks. I have horror stories from other medical providers, but not this group. If you get Libby you are in very good hands!

It felt weird being sat down in an exam room with the door hanging wide open. The assistant weighed me, and then took me to the exam room where a male worker was literally right outside the door doing some sort of paper work. I could hear the leafs of paper turning as I sat in my chair. She proceeded to ask me what I was there for. I told her one thing, and before she took my blood pressure I said, ""Can we close the door??"" It was only then I felt comfortable telling her the other reasons I made the visit. She was perfectly friendly about it all, but said, ""Oh, well I was just going to take your blood pressure."" as if it were no big deal.. HELLO!!?! What happened to patient privacy! As if the walls aren't already sound transparent enough! . But overall, besides that my visit was decent.. (and Libby Costello is great!)

I started seeing Dr. John Denker when I moved back to Portland from California in 2006. For those people who have complained about service at Mt. Tabor Medical, please, try getting any good service anywhere in California...I have found Mt. Tabor to be fine administratively and Dr. Denker is a very funny, nice, sincere guy. I wouldn't want any other doctor. We all have to deal with healthcare hassles-it's part of life in America- but I have found Mt. Tabor to be better than any other clinics I've dealt with before on a regular basis.

My fiance called in after having an episode on the floor where he couldn't get up and couldn't breathe. He had pulled a BAD muscle and was having spasms, and we thought he may have broken a rib. So, I call the doctor. The unprofessional receptionist transferred us to a nurse, who we thought would help us. But after describing how much pain he was in, she said, ""You have an outstanding balance of $80, how can you pay for that today?"" \n\nMy fiance's pain and concern wasn't as important as $80 funky ass dollars. It was hard enough trying to get him to go to the doctor after years of not going, but now he refuses to go to Mt. Tabor Medical Group again.\n\nI will continue to go because of Dr. Schleef. She's a great doctor.

I see Libby Costello, a nurse practitioner here and she is AMAZING! She will run any and all tests I want, she makes me feel super comfortable. She has never discounted my feelings and has always treated me, my children and my husband with the most respect. The office staff is a little bit flighty and the billing department can be as well. BUT as long as she is there...so am I.

I've been going to this office, with the same doctor, i might add, for 18 years. The doctors, nurses and front desk personnel are all knowledgeable and have the patients' best interests at heart, and since it's a small practice, it's not at all impersonal like some can be.

I found Mt Tabor Medical Group on Citysearch when I first moved to SE Portland four years ago. They are an old-fashioned, friendly local medical office. Karen Reisinger is my Nurse Practitioner. She spends more time with me than health care providers I have had in the past. She REALLY LISTENS and is not dismissive of my thoughts about my health. She has helped me with a variety of health care concerns from hypertension to depression. I recommend her highly, particularly to aging baby boomers like me. (She works Tuesdays thru Thursdays only.)

Mt. Tabor clinic is in the process of undergoing a huge transformation. New providers, new processes and an environmental ""face lift"" in addition to a state of the art electronic medical record system are in the works. With any large change there is turbulence with staff and service. This clinic has been in the neighborhood for over 40 years and has a heart with friendly, competent providers eager to serve the community with compassion and collaboration to provide prevnetive as well as ongoing acute and chronic management of health concerns. \r\nI was sad to read the gemmarose comment about Karen Riesinger. Most people experience her as competently tuned in to patients with no more long waits and able assistance provided by Becky the medical assistant who works with her.

Horrible experience with staff at this medical group. Was charged incorrect amounts each time I showed up and was presented a bill two months later for nearly the amount I had paid for the three previous visits combined. Argued until I was blue in the face with the staff, they really don't care and seem to enjoy getting me frustrated. They threatened to take me to collectioins over their mistakes. Just plain bad underhanded business, take your money elsewhere.

They make you wait for hours. The FNP Karen Reisinger has got to be the most flighty and irresponsible. She would forget to give me my scripts at the end of our visit and when I would go to remind her, she was already in a different office. She promised to call in the scripts but it would take at least 3 days. Plus, she charges far more than any of the other NP. She's crazy and I think on SOMETHING. She would leave me in the doctors office for an hour and a half at times, I'd actually have to go find her because she forgot me. she's nuts.\r\n\r\naVOID ALL TOGETHER

I have been going to Mt. Tabor Family Medical Group for several years now. I have yet to be treated well by the front desk staff or by the personnel that answers the phone. The lack luster and impersonal service provided by the front desk is the worst I have ever experienced at a medical clinic. I blame their management/owners. It appears they need more staff to do their jobs properly. I have found that if management treats their employees with respect and appreciation the level of service that staff provides to the public will reflect it. \r\n But on the other Hand---\r\n\r\nI LOVE my DOCTOR -- Dr. Kimberly Scheelf and have always received exceptional care from her. She is the reason I keep going back as she is a wonderful caregiver who listens to her patients and genuinely cares about their recovery. \r\n \r\nI will keep going back to the clinic as long as Dr. Scheelf is on staff. She is a rare find in today's medical industry. A Doctor who truly cares about her patients is extremely knowledgeable and works diligently to get you on the road to recovery. She has helped me tremendously with pain I am experiencing ; she is an exceptional Osteopath with a gift for healing.

What can I say. I love Mt. Tabor Family Medical Group. I have been coming here for every, and now both myself and my husband come here. I have recommended several of our friends to the clinic and they love it too. The Doctors and nurses are great, and always willing to take the time I need and more. There are times I might have to wait on the phone, but I'll tell you I would rather hear a human voice tell me to PLEASE HOLD, verses push number 1 or whatever. How impersonal. The girls at the front are always personable and fun to deal with. They have such a great sense of humor and for the most part always kind and helpful. Lets face it, we all have bad days now and again and I'm sure as patients we can be cranky and rude when we are out of sorts. It's nice in the waiting room if you have to wait awhile that there is some music to listen too, it is very simple which is quite impressive to me. I would highly recommend Mt. Tabor, I just love that clinic and the people who work there.

I have been a patient at Mt. Tabor Family Medical Group for 10 years, and I have found great comfort in taking my family there. It is a small, older fashioned clinic, but the care they provide is exceptional. It is not your typical doctor's office, where you get the recorded telephone prompts, or where no one knows who you are. From my personal observations, the receptionists seem to know who their patients are when they come in and greet them with a smile, which is something I really like, knowing that I am not just a dollar symbol to them. Sometimes, there might be a wait on the telephone to get through to a receptionist, however when you are answered, your problem is always listened to and relayed to the doctors. The nurses are very considerate and understanding. The doctor's also take very good care of me and my kids. Every once in a while, there is a little delay in my being seen, however I think of it this way.....If they are behind while seeing patients, it must be because they are giving that patient the utmost care, which I will receive when I do get seen by the doctor.... Overall, this clinic has highly impressed me, not in the modern, new-age doctor's office, but in the old-fashioned, caring setting that I really miss......

If you're reading these reviews about the front desk staff and are thinking ""how bad can it really be?"" well guess what its bad. They are very rude, unfriendly and pretty much could care less about the patients. I was seriously ill once and they refused to get me in to see Dr Denker (I had a 104 fever) or anyone else. I got the old ""All our doctors are busy. Apparently for three days straight. 50% of the time the nurses call in prescriptions its to the wrong pharmacy. I like both the doctors I've seen there and really don't want to change doctors again but man the staff there is a joke. Like one of those 911 horror stories. Believe these reviews.

I have been with this clinic for 17years I have sever anxiety and a child with ocd, they have always been there for us and I also had dr constein but now he works for kaiser, I was extreemly worried due to the fact that I had so much to explaine to the new doctor but she must have read about me and my family and was so understanding that she even said she would make a house call if my ptsd disorder didnt allow me to leave the house at that time. The clinic does try to fit you in they even have late hours a few times a week. I do agree they do need to adapt a different front desk procedure as it can sometimes be hard to leave a message to the nurse, and she can forward info to the doc

Every month I have to call in for a prescription from one of the doctors, and without fail the receptionists bungle it up. Either they do not call me to let me know it is in, or they just don't do it, or forget, or whatever... I think my doctor is great, but the help there is seriously lacking.

Pros: hilarious boom-box atmosphere

Cons: rude, overnourished staff.

I have found the doctors to be friendly but not necessarily competent. The receptionists are rude and unfriendly and very unprofessional. I am currently looking for a new office and I would not recommend this office.

Dr. Denker is personable and nice during visits but hasn't returned my phone call regarding labs in over a week. I find the receptionists are both rude (over the phone and in person) and unprofessional.
