I came to Dr. Sarlin for help with being overweight. I was given a diet that was low in carbohydrate
and high in vegetables, fish, and legumes. I received a serious gameplan from the doctor and I took it on. He gave me confidence that if I stuck to the diet
I would lose weight. I went on this plan for three months in the summer. At the end of the summer,
he didn't recognize me when I returned to him. I'd gotten engaged, started school for Culinary Arts,
and started wearing dresses I hadn't put on since high school. I'm so thankful!

I want to praise "Everything They Don't Teach at Harvard Medical School- A Diet for a Little Planet" by Dr. Ben Sarlin. Your book surpasses even "The Zone". It's unique in that it represents a unifying theory.
You should call it "Breaking the Fat Code". Initially, I thought it was just going to be another
diet book. The concepts of using little lessons from animals were eye-opening and really
novel.

Dr. Sarlin has given me a better understanding of how to control my blood sugar by encouraging a low
carbohydrate diet. I've reduced my carbohydrates significantly. The idea that foods like fruits
and grains turn into blood sugar was a new idea for me. That a candy bar and glass of orange juice or bowl of cereal
had the same amount of carbohydrate. For someone without diabetes type 1, they don't
need any carbohydrates because the liver breaks down fish and chicken into sugar. I now try to
limit my carbohydrate intake to as close to ten grams as possible, reducing my insulin need considerably! These
were ideas I'd never known and are helping me manage my condition and feel optimistic
and positive I can have normal, healthy blood sugar my whole life.

I had just come back from a year in India. I was smelling perfume in the office and choking, having difficulty breathing. Every time I passed the copy machine. Anytime, cement was being made outside I couldn't breathe. I wasasked if I had ever spent time in a foreign country where the drinking water might be less drinkable. I was told that perhaps something might be in my liver as this is where all the chemicals are broken down in the body. I told Dr. Sarlin I spent a year in India, and he told me I might have parasites in the liver. After one day of taking the mixture of black walnut oil, artemesia, and cloves, by a nutriceutical company, I passed nearly 100 worms. I went on his diet, switched to non-dairy sources of milk, and stopped eating sushi and undercooked meat. I fully recovered. My life was saved by this remedy. His intuition was lifesaving.
