The bottom line is: Don't go there.

Here's my whole experience:

I went to the doctor (my human doctor) in the morning. I had an exam, some lab work and got a prescription. I have a deductible on my insurance so I had to pay 100% for this visit so I know exactly how much it cost me. For everything I paid $106. In the afternoon, I take my dog to Sky Lake for a first visit. Luckily for me, there is another vet office in a separate building right next door to Sky Lake. By mistake, I walk into the other vet's office. They say they can't find a record of me setting up an appointment and ask if maybe I'm supposed to be next door at Sky Lake. I say oh, yeah. Ok. Thanks. They were very nice. So, I go next door to Sky Lake.

The vet looks at her and says he doesn't know what her problem is. Then he goes out and sends in one of his office workers to sell me. (He can't just look me in the eye and tell me what my dog needs and what he'll charge.) She has her pen and paper and she's doing the sales person thing figuring it up. She says he wants to do a test and will probably give my dog some antibiotics and with the exam fee it'll all come to $150. ($149 and some cents.)

I'm from out of town and I'm in south Florida for a few months working on my boat that I have docked down here. I really felt trapped. I didn't know where else to take my dog and I was already there. I didn't know really what to do. I just said, fine. Do it and I'll pay it but I don't like it and I will never be back. I said, "I just went to the doctor for myself this morning and you're charging me more for my dog!" That's not right. I'll never be back. You tell your vet that. I wish he could hear me. The he pipes up from the next room and says he can hear me. (He was hiding out in the next room while this office person did the sales job.)

So I said directly to him what I told his office person: I just went to the doctor for me this morning. They charged me less than you're trying to charge me for my dog! That's not right! I will never come back here.

Well, that made him mad and he said, if you don't like it why don't you go somewhere else?

I said, that's a good idea. I'll do that. I guess you want me to pay you for the office visit. Of course, he said yes, pay him for the office visit. So I did. I paid the so-and-so for his "exam" - for which he told me nothing, he did not know the problem, I got nothing but a waste of time and a sales pitch for more money. I was not a very happy camper.

So I'm getting in my car and I think: Well, there's another vet right there (that I went into by mistake when I first got here). May as well ask them how they would handle it. So, I go in and tell them I just walked out next door because they want to charge more than it costs to see a human doctor. I say they want to sell me an exam, a lab thing and a prescription for $150. What would you guys charge? So, they figure it up and say, $101. I say, Sold. Can you see my dog?

So the place next door (that I went into first by mistake) works me in - it didn't take long. It was like night and day. The vet spends a long time with my dog, he does some lab stuff. He actually knows what is wrong with my dog and he's explaining it to me as he goes along. I walk out of there with an exam, a lab procedure, antibiotics, a special bath soap and some ear medication drops. All for $108.

Where do you think I'll be going back? Not to Sky Lake. You know that. Sky Lake got my money for an exam (for which they told me absolutely nothing). But they'll never get another penny from me! I found a good vet right next door.

I was charged $200+ extra dollars when they refused to honor their posted hours. I told them the charges were false and paid only the valid portion. In the end, they chose collections and I had those vultures harassing me until Christmas
