First off, this apartment community isnt all that its cracked up to be. I had originally moved to Archstone Gaithersburg Station, because I fell in love with the apartment unit designs and amenities. I leased a corner, one-bedroom apartment, because it offers the largest kitchen, and it overlooked the courtyard. The ceilings are tastefully lined with molding, the bathroom and hallway are made of stone, the cabinets have a beautiful wood finish, and the granite countertops are an added bonus. Even the hallways leading to the apartments are attractive well lit, polished stone flooring, and molding lining each doorway. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Sadly, Ive come to hate the apartment building and community.

1. The area isnt great. But its worse when the security features do not work properly and are never fixed. I constantly see random people walking the premises, because the garage gate is wide open or the gates to the courtyards are unlocked.
2. The trains are really loud, but thats a no brainer.
3. I have had my vehicle vandalized several times in the closed-gate parking garage. Ive heard from other residents they have faced the same issue. There is 24-hour security walking the premises, but this hasnt stopped people from mistreating their neighbors property.
4. There is always something going wrong, whether the alarm system is constantly going off, the door locks are broken, the doors wont open, the garage door stays open at all hours, the flooring is shattered, etc. The door leading to my porch does not shut properly, and it lets in bugs. The paint is starting to chip in the bathroom (in areas that are rarely touched by water). Needless to say, things that go broken dont typically get fixed. Issues that do are not handled in a timely manner.
5. The people that live in the apartment complex do not treat it as their home. The hallways are consistently dirty. Food and trash lined my walk to my door every single day. There are boogers and other human excrement on the walls (and I mean all of the walls). Its absolutely disgusting.
6. The sound carries from one apartment to the next. I can hear everything from the apartment above to below and to the side of me. Ive lived in many communities, and this building amplifies sound like no other.
7. In the stairwells, kids smoke marijuana, drink, and do drugs. It always reeks of smoke, and there are blunt wrappers, ash, and other crap on the window sills and floors.
8. I was overcharged by a few hundred dollars a month for my lease. Other tenants are paying much less than I am for the same exact apartment unit. Why the hell would I want to renew my lease?
Beware. Stay away. Ive seen better communities throughout the Gaithersburg area.

The building is gorgeous - just full of holes. I am so sorry I moved here. Having been here a year, I feel I can provide an honest opinion: I would not recommend it - at all. You can read what the more negative reviews are. I concur and I AM on the 3rd floor. Most of the people that rented around the same time I did have all left and had very bad experiences. With the same staff and management even though a "new company"., I don't see how things will improve. I was told there would be a bike rack months and months ago. I was told that the dog bathing station would be ready by LAST JUNE. Needless to say, niether have happened. Forget about shops below the apartments - if those spaces filled up, I would be absolutely shocked. I was told when I Moved in a year ago that they had vendors that would be renting within a couple of months. Need to get hold of security after hours? Forget it. Those numbers are not published - you'll have to call the police or hope that you can find the security guard, when they are actually here. Oh? The music room? I was told there would be instruments...well, there are not. My maintenance requests typically go for days without even being addressed. I have to write numerous times just to get a response. I have heard the same thing from neighbors (on the third floor - and the first, the second and the fourth). And when you do get a response - it's never their fault and nothing is ever wrong. It's because you did something wrong, didn't work something right or are, in general a liar, not to be trusted and a complete idiot. So, no...I would not rent here.

I'm a 27 year-old professional who lives with his girlfriend in these shiny, new apartments. We moved in nearly 60 days ago.

I'm not sure why the other reviewers have had such a negative experience, but I can say, without a doubt, I have never been happier with a new place. The staff (including maintenance) is prompt, courteous, and makes every effort to make you happy in your new home.

The apartments are brand new and gorgeous. I had to make a couple of maintenance calls upon moving in (pilot light and two light bulbs were out), but these items were taken care of in under 12 hours. The work was done quickly and efficiently.

The surrounding area isn't full of evening hotspots like DC, though I think that the feel of the area will improve significantly once the shops downstairs are completed and occupied. With the reasonable rent and the wonderful accomodations/decor/ambiance, I can't think of a better place to live.

The interior of the apartments are spacious, beautiful, and have excellent views. The appliances, cabinetry, and workmanship in the apartments are high-quality, and we haven't had any issues whatsoever in them. As a bonus, the plush carpeting is stain resistant (girlfriend spilled a red Slurpee our first night in the apartment!). Other than that, my neighbors are courteous and quiet, but I can't speak for anywhere else other than the third floor!

Finally, we were concerned about being close to the train and the street; however, I rarely hear the train, nor can I hear any street noise while living on the interior side of the apartments.

For anyone who's heading in, I highly recommend Melinda, she took extra time (after the office was closed) to chat with us about everything that living at Archstone entailed, and we appreciated that greatly!

I give it one star, but truly it deserves none; or even negative stars, given my level of UNhappiness. All I can suggest is DO NOT MOVE HERE! Since moving in, I have experienced nothing but inconvenience. There is constant construction, dirt, and snarky staff. The amenities, which are so enticing, are generally closed. The pool closes at 8, the courtyard that houses it is also closed and locked at this time, the entertainment room is closed at 11pm, and the internet cafe has yet to open (I have lived here 2 months now...). None of these times were given during our introductory tour, and thus, came as a shock. So, you pay a lot of money for a noisy, incomplete environment, and curfews. Lovely.

Moved in a little bit ago thinking a brand new complex would be nice....WRONG!!!! So far I'm having the worst experience of my life. Constant construction, noise and dust everywhere! The management is horrible! Mandy has no idea about anything going on and Kris King is a 5ft tall piece of **** puppet! If you have a problem, they say sorry and do absolutely nothing to fix the problem. The amenities are still not complete and most of them won't be done till the end of june( I've been there now for almost two months!) it's way over priced! The area is not even nice! You're in Old Towne Gaithersburg which consist of a micro brewery and a bunch of spanish mini markets....you're best bet is to stay away! Not worth a single dime! And they also have "lifeguards" that through research I found out aren't properly qualified and are students from overseas coming here for the summer. This community can't even employ our own local residents!
