I sure hate having to give them any stars.
We hired Olympus to repair two decks on our condo. The decks were originally composed of a 3/4 inch composite underlayment surfaced with concrete. After 12 years the decks had deteriorated and water had leaked through rotting some of the underlayment on the weather side of the decks. Olympus contracted to remove the rotted materials and finish the decks with a product called DecTec a rolled rubberized material. The cost was about $1350 per deck.
Olympus came out and just put their product over the rotted materials resulting in a situation where the decks would no longer drain and water would pool. In addition there were large areas where the Dec Tec was not even glued down resulting the product bubbling up and wrinkling. The product required one seam per deck. The seams were not properly constructed and one was even done backwards so that it would drain toward the house. I attempted to get Olympus to fix the problem for months. They repeatedly lied to me about the problem, initially saying that they had removed and replaced the rotted materials and then saying the there was some mysterious problem with the original deck construction and it wasn't their problem. They did eventually offer to come out to address the problem for $400-800 additional per deck. (read $800)
I finally hired a guy to come out and redo the decks. When he pulled up the DecTec he found that the rotted materials had not been removed and, in addition, there was further rotting because water was leaking through the seams and through the areas where the DecTec hadn't been glued down. He removed and replaced the rotted materials and finished the deck with a concrete material. They are beautiful. The cost was $750 per deck. We are now left with the unpleasant prospect of having to sue Olympus to get our money back.
Hands down this is the worst experience that I have had with any company I have ever dealt with. This is not an isolated situation where I was dealing with problematic employees. I was dealing with Josh, the owner of the company.
