This is a disastrous agency. I am writing to prevent others from having the experiences my parents had with caregivers from Pacific Home Care. They provide live-in care givers, they are quite inexpensive but you get what you pay for, which is very little. The first caregiver my parents had was loud, bossy and she would intimidate my parents and laugh at them. She would argue (yelling) at my father who had suffered a head injury. She had little knowledge on how to work with anyone who did not do as she said. After my father died, we changed caregivers. Unfortunately, it was with the same agency. The next care giver was quieter and more passive-aggressive with my mother. She spoke very little English, and after 5 months still did not call my mother by her name. I had asked her at least 7 times and she was unable to do such a simple task.
She did not cook well, and only reheated food in the microwave. For some reason she could not check it before she gave it to my mother who would often get her tongue burned.
I spoke with the owner, Milika, and she said she would talk to the caregiver but nothing changed. One day my mother refused to go to her house as long as the caregiver was there. That was her way of firing the caregiver.
Now she has care givers that care about her. She is much happier, less anxious and is slowly getting more comfortable with living alone.
PLEASE be careful if you decide to do business with this agency. They care for elders some of whom may have difficulty expressing themselves. When there is a conflict they tend to blame the patient, in this case my parents. They are not at all a patient advocate.
