It is nice to know that there are a lot of people who are investing on security systems. Society is composed of different types of people. Among these are burglars and other types of thefts. Sometimes you ponder upon this matter. "Why do some people have to commit crimes?" Though the answers are already in front of our faces, it is indeed difficult to accept the reality. It is not easy to inspire these people to change their way of life. Therefore, the best way that we can do is to protect ourselves from them.
ADT is one of the largest security system integrators in the US and a major distributor of security products manufactured by sister companies Software House and American Dynamics. In June 2008, ADT acquired SST, a large US security system integrator. ADT also announced a partnership with Cisco to market and integrate Cisco's video surveillance products.
I agree with the other low reviews on ADT's inferior service, but my main problem with them is that their system itself is ill designed and obsolete. I have had one of their systems in my house for many years and looking to throw it away and replace it with a better one. Anyone has a better recommendation for a wireless monitored home alarm system?
ADT is outstanding in their services because they make sure that all of their customers are provided with the services they need. I can say this because the sister and I are using ADT. If you have been thinking of any alarm system that you need for your family, you should choose ADT. They have packages for as low as $49 upon installation. Aside from that, their customer service representatives, installers, and technicians are all professionals. You will never have problems with ADT.
I contracted with ADT almost two years ago. Since we very rarely turn on the alarm system, I decided to cancel the service. I spoke to one of their representatives who told me that they require 70% of the remaining contract (a 3 year contract) as a cancellation fee. So to cancel would cost me almost $500 after two years as a customer. Apparently, this is in the contract I signed when it was installed. Shame on me for not reading it. But 70%?? That seems like an unreasonable cost. So I guess I will keep the service and continue to pay for something I do not use. But beware if you are considering ADT. Especially if you have never used a security system before and are not sure it is right for you.
Since July 2008 I owned an ADAT ADT-200A. I tested the transceiver on my Optibeam and it works very good. It has a clear audio and the filters works precise and sharp. The reports on the band are always good. One of the best QSOs was Ecuador with 50 watt. Also the predistortion of the TX signal works well. It is a good digital transceiver without the need of a pc. I hope that within the next firmware, Hans implement some new features. He does a fine job !
If you opt for the police responce (monitored system) then you may be eligable for a discount from your insursnce company when the monitoring is set up an admin fee is payable to the local police force of 45. If a maintence contract is taken out when the alarm is fitten then you will get one routine maintence visit a year if the alarm is audible only (bells only) and two routine maintence visits a year if the system is monitored. although on some of the newer systems the one of the routine maintence's on the moinitored system is done remotely by a computer. To sum up if your looking for an excellent alarm fitted by well quilified engineers then look no further than ADT.
