My family has been bringing our pets to Winthrop Veterinary Hospital for many years, ever since Dr Gross opened the practice. The staff and doctors have always been kind and compassionate. They care about the human client as much as they do the animal patient. I have received phone calls days after my dogs operation to see how he's doing. My own doctor doesn't do that. After I finally layed him down they were so gentle and carried him to the car for me. They called me again days later and sent me a card. I strongly recommend them for your pet?s doctor and friend.

First the positive. The main vet there, Bill is a good vet. Considerate, good bedside manner etc. Now the bad news... The other main vet there (Mary) is a the polar opposite. A true witch! She traumatized our puppy so badly that 3 months later he has not been the same since. He is now skittish around us where he never was before. He yelps when you pull his fur even slightly. I am so angry that she put our little guy through this. She brushed it off like it was just 'our dog' but the screams and crying could be heard throughout the building! We had a well adjusted little pup until this event, now I dont know if he will ever recover. This was not an isolated incident either. It happened to a lesser extent on a previous visit. This woman is cocky, and not very intuitive either. Just a bad vet. Also, their prices are far higher than other vets. They even sell dog treats that have propylene glycol in them!! (antifreeze... poison) Despite the inconvenience of starting over someplace else, I will not be bringing our little fellow back for more harassment by this woman. BEWARE!!
