My children went to this daycare when it was Our Precious Gems and I loved it. A few months ago, new owners bought the center. I am a person that does not like change, but I gave it a chance. They came in and made a lot of changes, but there were two main changes that did not sit well with me. They let go or ran off all of their good staff that had been there for years, except the cook, she is awesome. They have kept two has been teachers that are only there to collect a paycheck and only care about going out on the weekends. Then they hired all of these people that have no idea what they are doing. I feel sorry for the kids, I really do. The second change is that the owners are so rude to parents and kids. I have heard them harassing parents in the hallway if they did not have their payments in on Monday morning. The last owner was so personable and she was a sweetheart and these two do not have what it takes, not at all. I have pulled my children out and taken them to another daycare. I wish them the best but I can not have my children somewhere that their staff never shows up and they hate their jobs. The owners do not even like being there. It is pretty sad for such a great center to go down the drain. The center is pretty clean, but that may be the only plus besides their cook. I am shocked that she is still there.

Business Response:

Ms. Cat B, I would first off like to apologize on behalf of Little Hands Academy. While we've searched our records and cannot find a record of any children being withdrawn from our center during the timing of this review, we certainly would like to acknowledge your concerns. We did in fact take over ownership of Our Precious Gems in July of 2012 at which time we did not get rid of any employees. Not only do we have excellent staff that have joined us as our center has grown, but we also kept 3 wonderful staff members that have been there for well over 8 years. None of which that are here to "collect a paycheck and only care to go out on the weekends" as you suggest. We are very thorough in our hiring process and make sure that we only hire staff that are not only experienced, but truly passionate about kids. My own child attends the center and as a mother I would not leave my child in the hands of an unfit staff member. In regards to your complaint about management- Myself and my co-owner are hands on owners, meaning that one or both of us are at the center at all times. We care very deeply for our parents, kids and staff and strive very hard to run a center that shows that. We have a open door policy at our center for parents to bring questions or concerns of any matter. While we unfortunately do not know your identity and do not know of any child being withdrawn for negative reasons, I can assure you that we would have loved to address your concerns if  we were made aware of them. I invite you to please stop by our center at anytime so that we can apologize in person in hopes that you can see the excellent center we do have. You may also call me directly at anytime at 425-2627. Best Regards, Angela Huffman Owner-Little Hands Academy
