The men working on my house did a great job. Very hardworking and no complaints there. However, I didn't get courtesy calls like they say

\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n\nRipoff and false advertising\n\nI called Gillece on Friday morning at 7:30 am because our air conditioning stopped working. I called them because they offer guaranteed same day service or it is free. They called me at 7:00 pm to inform me that they were busy and could not make it. I asked if the $95 service call fee for the next day would be free and they did not honor the guarantee they advertised. They gave me $30 off. At this point I was desperate and just wanted the ac to be fixed. After they stated tht I would be a priority service call the next day. Well the technician showed up at 6:00 pm the next day. He diagnosed the air conditioner needed a new connector / relay. He wanted to charge me $1,075 to change this part and try to convince me to buy a $11,995 new system. This was a totally inflated price. I went online to look for the part and purchased it for $18. It literally is mounted in plain view and is a very easy repair. I called another air conditioning repair servic and asked them how much would this repair cost and they told me it would cost $200. Gillece tried to rip me off over $875 more for a $18.00 part. I also searched online for the complete air conditioning and furnace package they were trying to sell me. I found it for $3,000, that is a $9,000 cheaper for the exact same unit. Avoid this company at all costs, they are a ripoff. \n

Gillece obviously writes these positive reviews. A simple Google search for ""Gillece Complaints"" will show you a huge array of customer who have been ripped off. They have a bad BBB rating, a horrible rating on Angieslist, have been found guilty of cybersquating, and have had several channel 4 investigations. \r\n\r\nThey also use the DVDs from a HVAC profit booster named Charlie Greer to train their sales staff. Thats right - A profit booster for their supposed ""plumbers"". \r\n\r\nYou can tell that Gillece uses these tactics. They are rip off artist. They will screen phone calls for the most profitable jobs only - particularly if you say your furnace or AC is fairly old. The way to get a Gillece rep at your door in under 5 minutes is to tell them your furnace has been acting funny and is 20 years old.\r\n\r\nThey will tell you they can flush your toilet for only $3,000 when the toilet itself is worth maybe $150. They will tell you that you need a new furnace when really you just have it unplugged. They will not unclog your drain and say ""your pipes are collapsed"" or you need to spend $10,000 for a new line when really the guy didn't even try to unclog anything.\r\n\r\nDON'T call Gillece. Send a letter to the attorney general if you did.

They just tried to rip off my very pregnant niece for $7400 and tear up her yard. They told her an excavator was already on the way and refused to leave and tried to pressure her to agree. One clogged drain that a REAL plumber fixed for $150 after she was finally able to make them leave. \n\nI read the 5 star reviews and you just know that Gillece is writing them. They even sound like ad copy. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE! Wish there was a way to give them NO stars at all

Called Gillece to get help with a water problem. Found that my water pressure regulator was broken and expansion tank needed to be replaced. While writing up proposal starting selling me on a $13,000 water system that he said I had to have. I told him I couldn't afford it and then came the special offer to take the price down and get special financing. That seemed to be the main thing he wanted to concentrate on. Instead of fixing the problem that was preventing me from taking a hot shower. Finally got to the price for repairs. Quoted $1300 for repairs. I told him I wasn't paying that ridiculous cost, so the price went to $637. I still said no and so the technician called the service manager for him to discuss with me. It felt like a car dealership. Before he could talk I told him I wasn't paying the ridiculous cost and then I told the technician to get out. Even after that he was still trying to sell me the water system. He then was completely ignoring me and did a chlorine check. He told me that I should not be drinking the water that I have been drinking for the past 18 years supplied by the water company to everyone else in the township. In the end, I repaired everything on my own for a cost of $110 and 1 hour of work. What they are doing seems illegal and they are taking advantage of people that cannot do the work themselves. STAY AWAY

The Gillece tech tried to charge me $2786 for a hot water heater. They use a very hard sale tactic and are very pushy.\r\n\r\n Lowes did the same job for me for $568. \r\n\r\nNow I know why he has an F rating with the BBB and why Channel 4 did a segment on him.\r\n\r\nHe should be in jail. I will be contacting the DA about his business pratices.\r\n\r\nSTAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

I absolutely can't believe a single story on here... and why some of these people would post the same review, 5 times, on each Gillece listing is highly suspicious.\r\n\r\nLong story short we called for the $99 sewer drain cleaning. Their slogan shouldn't be 'same day or you don't pay'... it should be 'same day because you're gonna pay' \r\n\r\nIn less than 30 minutes after the Gillece arrived, we were told we had a threatening situation with our sewer drain and it would cost $8,000 to replace it. They offered NO alternative, told us we had ""at most"" 2 more days of use from our sewers (we'd lived there for 9 years without a single problem to this point), and used scare tactics and fake coupons to get us to sign a contract. Then within another 45 minutes, there was a crew in our driveway with a backhoe ripping everything apart.\r\n\r\nCome to find out, the repairs were likely never necessary. His ""huge"" issue of hair-like roots is a common problem. Both of our neigbors, whom have lived in the hosues since they were built, said they often have blockages and just pay the $150 for a drain cleaning every 4 or 5 years. Our municipal authority even told us they get them in the main sewer pipes, and replacement is only necessary if they collapse!!! Collapse is common with terra cotta pipes from houses built in the 50s-70s. We have solid iron pipes and our house is less than 30 years old. \r\n\r\nSo we were basically scammed out of $8,000 for a problem that could've been solved with a $25 can of root-x and regular cleanings/maintenance. Sure, maybe our pipes would've needed replaced... in 2075 when we'll be dead.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis is the second time they scammed us, though we didn't realize the first scam until the second one. Called them in 2007 for a heating checkup required by our HOA. They found $500 worth of heating repairs, I told them not to do anything but my husband thought one sounded bad and told them to fix it (cost of $220). The other- which was the ignition for the heater- they said might make it through the year at the most. 4 years later I can happily report no issues with the ignition switch.\r\n\r\nI am trying to organize a class action lawsuit against them as I have names and numbers of over 3 dozen people who verbally indicated they are willingn to sign on. They are a scam and disgrace to this city.

When sewage came up through our utility room and basement while we were working on renovations one evening, we knew we had a big clog! Gillece's $99 ad made them extremely appealing. In fact, we had called another plumber just before who quoted us over $400 just to snake the line!!!\r\n\r\nChad was extremely professional and worked very quickly. We called at 8:00am on a Saturday and he was here by 9:30am! He was all done and everything was working great again by 10! Best of all, NO HIDDEN CHARGES!!! Our total was $99! Can you believe it???!!!\r\n\r\nThank you, thank you, thank you, for a very good end to a very bad problem!

Over this past weekend, our AC stopped working on Sunday night. We called Gillece because of the $99 advertisement. We were having a party for my mum and my niece that both have their birthday on the same day and we always have a big party for them and it is a huge picnic. We would have been miserable if it wasn,t for Gillece. They came out on the holiday and fixed the AC for about $195 and saved the party. Offered the guy a beer but he said he couldn't while he was on duty, but was a really nice guy. Great company nd great deal.

It's never a good day when you've got water streaming through your kitchen ceiling. Gillece to the rescue. Steve from Gillece was very confident in his diagnosis and repair of the problem, and it turned out he was right. He worked diligently all day to cut the ceiling open, remove the broken pipes and replace them. He thoroughly masked the area off to avoid any more damage. When he was done he actually scrubbed my kitchen floor clean. Pleasant experience overall. Cost was more than I expected but they did have to return to get it inspected the next day, so I am sure that the job was done right.

I was skeptical about calling Gillece with all of the negative reviews that were posted, but I gave them a shot and was pleasantly suprised. Everyone that I dealt with from Gillece was very polite and professional and I never felt pressured to do anything. The serviceman Jim was a true down to earth Pittsburgher that I trust. I will highly recommend this company to anyone and am very happy with the service that they provided and the prices charged. Great value in my opinion.

Have seen all of the commercials saying ""Call Gillece"" so when I had a backup in my bathtub, who else would I call? They scheduled me for the $99 drain cleaning and I was a little bit skeptical that this was some kind of a come on to get in the door and then be charged more. I was very pleased when the plumber Jeff arrived and was so courteous and professional and all he charged me was the $99. Here?s the kicker: It was 10:00 at night and he wasn?t rushed or irritated, just a true professional. I would like to commend Jeff for a job well done, and I will recommend Gillece to my neighbors or anyone else that asks.

Called several companies when our boiler went out. Gillece was the only one promised same day and they lived up to their promise. Since we moved into our house over 15 years ago, we have been constantly complaining about the radiators in the family room that never seem to heat up. Ron from Gillece was checking out the piping after getting the thermocuple replaced and discovered that there was a valve that was choking off the flow to the family room that he opened and instantly we had a wonderful warmth in the room that we never thought possible. OMG!!! Can't believe that we lived this way for 15 years!!

I bought an older home that came complete with an giant, ancient furnace. I had many contractors come and estimate on the replacement furnace and AC install. Of all the companies I called, GILLECE was the ONLY one that gave me options for high efficiency. They were the ONLY ones that even cared to tell me about higher electric costs with certain units, they were the only ones that even bothered to explain different types of systems to me, and they were the ONLY ones who recognized instantly the old furnace in my house and knew how to remove it without taking walls down like all the contractors mentioned doing. \r\n\r\nBecause of GILLECE, I ended up getting something completely different from what I thought I originally wanted, because I hadn't known there was a difference. \r\nWhen they came to do the install, they were quick, efficient, and on time. They even worked within my busy schedule. They completely cleaned up after themselves and were 100% professional. They showed me how all the equipment worked and helped me to claim my rebates and tax incentives. \r\n\r\nEven though their bid was slightly higher than others, I actually got a MUCH better system than I ever would have simply because GILLECE took the time to explain everything to me and give me options. Plus, they had a bid estimate ready same-day. No other contractor had a bid ready for me until at least a week later because they said it was such a big job. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Best contractor I've worked with and I've worked with a lot.\r\n

My Carrier furnace broke down late in the day on a cold, snowy afternoon. I called Gillece and the guy showed up about 8 pm. He diagnosed the problem as a faulty ignitor and told me the replacement part would be $575 (over and above the $95 service call). I don't know much about furnaces, but enough to know that $575 for an ignitor is off the charts. Since it was late and the house had no heat I had no choice (that's what Gillece counts on) but to tell him to fix it. While he was doing so, I looked on the internet and found two Carrier ignitors - one $199 and one $69. I wasn't sure which was the correct one for my furnace (it ended up being the $69) but I printed the information and took it downstairs to show to the repairman, who was just finishing. He knew he'd been caught red-handed, so he called into Gillece Headquarters and the guy there told him to take $175 off. I told the repairman $400 was still WAY to much, and that I'd take it up with Gillece Management in the morning. The next morning I tried to reach the regional sales manager, but of course, his flunky, Celeste, intercepted the call for him. I explained everything to her and she was extremely defensive, rude, and abrasive with me. She wouldn't put the call through to the sales manager and I ended up just hanging up on her. Later that day I went out to a local place, Climate Systems, and got the $69 ignitor. I put it on in less than 10 minutes and the furnace works fine. As for the Great Gillece $575 ignitor, it's going back to Tom Gillece and he can stick it up his ass. He should be in prison for Grand Larceny.

I had a new furnace installed several years ago by a friend of a friend who's an independent HVAC guy. He was awesome and AMAZING on price. \n\nThis winter, the pump that pumps condensation out of my furnace burned out. It was my own fault, I accidentally pinched off the drainage hose and caused all the condensation to back up. \n\nWhen it happened, my trusty HVAC guy was in the hospital getting an appendectomy. So I called Gillece to come rescue me from the condensation that was filling up 3 buckets a day and spilling onto my basement floor. \n\nThey came and showed me a parts price list. The pump I needed to replace was listed for over 250 bucks on their price list. With labor, the whole job was gonna cost just over 400. I decided to stick with the bucket and wait for my guy to get out of the hospital. He eventually came and replaced the whole pump for 60 dollars?labor included. Only took him 5 minutes.\n\nSo, Gillece was gonna charge me over 400 dollars in parts and labor for a 60 dollar pump and a 5-minute install? No thanks. Steer clear of Gillece for repairs. Or at least shop around before letting them go to work on your furnace.\n\nThey showed up fast and were friendly. I'll give 'em that much.

Good points: 1) fairly friendly, 2) really prompt, 3) the lower down the food chain, the nicer the people get.\n\nBad points: 1) will charge you 2+ times the real cost for any job, 2) will try to scare you into doing work that isn't really necessary.\n\nObviously bad outweighs good here. the $99 sewer line inspection/clean turned into multiple thousands of dollars. If you agree to one thing they do it and find ""severely damaged"" fill in the blank and want you to spend tens of thousands to fix something that technically is still working just fine. I recommend ""A Comfort Service"" for plumbing/HVAC issues. Definitely get a second opinion on anything above a couple hundred dollars.

This is a class act, very professional, prompt, clean cut and they do nice work but... they're really expensive! I had two hours of work done (replacing a crawlspace turnoff, a dripping shower, and a broken line to an outside line. It came to over $500 when it was probably only $150 in parts). They did do a great job of confirming appointments, sending via e-mail a confirmation of service call, and following up but shop around and you can probably find somebody to do the job for less. They did show up within a few hours of setting the appointment and they did give me the quote up front, so it's my own fault for agreeing to the work.

We woke up to a major backup this morning. Basement was flooding with raw sewage. Gillece was here within an hour of our call and snaked the drain out with no problems. They even squirted the area off which took them longer than the snaking did. Thanks Gillece for doing such a wonderful job and being so neat and clean about it.

Recently, as he was beginning an outdoor project in our yard, my husband came across a problem with a sewage pipe at our house. The pipe, which spanned from the inside of our house out, was leaking sewage every time that we flushed the toilet. Being that the leak was significant and neither of us had any plumbing knowledge or expertise, we understood that the problem needed a professional. \r\nOn Monday morning, I received a call around 8:30 stating that the plumber was in our area. He arrived and reviewed the problem. He explained that the sewage pipe coming out of the house was old, cracked and ill-fitting, the second pipe that comes from the ground and vents the gases was cracked and broken, and that sewage had been leaking into our foundation for some time. At this point, I was obviously concerned that the sewage was not only leaking in to the ground outside, but the foundation of our home! To add to my concerns, I was pregnant with our first child and realized that this could in no way be good for anyone?s health, let alone a tiny, developing baby. The plumber only encouraged my fears by stating that it wasn't safe to have the sewage leaking and ""if you are ever going to have kids in the house, the problem needs to be fixed"". Steve, who was referred to as one of the ?best service guys? by the person on the phone provided a quote of $4715.99 ? and this was AFTER a 15% discount and an online coupon!!! I was completely shocked with the quote. With absolutely no knowledge of plumbing and concern over the sewage leak and potential health problems, said ?Well, it needs to be fixed?. With concern about spending all of our money, my husband told Steve that the charges seemed high. He responded that Gillece does the work that same day and that it has a lifetime guarantee. With that explanation, we assumed that the price was maybe a little higher than most, but never imagined the price difference that we later discovered. My husband asked if he could have a breakdown of what could possibly be $4715 and Steve told him that they charge ?per project? and could offer NO information on how he arrived at the price. With all of the advertising and as much as I have heard and seen the Gillece name throughout the South Hills area, I assumed that they had to be a reputable company. Luckily for Steve, my husband had already done 99% of the digging around that area so he was able to get started quickly. After 5 hours, Steve completed his work. He took me in to the basement to get my approval on his clean up, which was fine. Then, he gave me the paperwork to sign. I first signed a page that had the total cost it. Steve explained that in Pennsylvania, we have 3 days to reject/cancel any work that is done and gave me the sheet to sign. Then, he had a form that labeled ?Emergency Order? which he explained ?this just says that you gave me permission to complete this work today?, so I signed it. The work was done and off went Steve. \r\nWithin the next day, we learn that the project that we just paid almost $5K for should have cost $1700 AT THE VERY MOST. We also learned that the ?Emergency Order? form, which Steve explained as me giving him permission to complete this work that very day actually cancels the 3 day right to cancel in Pennsylvania. In addition, we learned that Gillece will not return calls to customers who complain and avoid them at every cost...only to send a typed letter to the customer's home stating that nothing will be done to resolve the complaint. \r\nLesson to be learned: (1) Gillece Services sets outrageous charges for their work and are a complete rip off, (2) Don?t assume that they must be reasonably priced with the competition because they are not...they will take as much money as they can from you and can't even offer an explanation as to how they come up with the charge, (3) Always get a second opinion and never trust Gillece to do work in your house.\r\n

The prices are insane. I have done some basic electrical work but called Gillece to save time. I had a new sun room added to my deck. The contractor ran the wire and left a place for a switch box and a wire for a fan.. Cost to drop in a box (no cutting - already done) and switch $308 - to nail a box to the beam $383 for the fan to be mounted to - to install the fan $646 - to connect the wire to a outlet in the basement (the wire was pulled and there) $666... 2 hours of work, a few smoke breaks tossed in and $10 for supplies at Lowes (you will need a screw driver) at the most! And they would have gladly done this on the spot... Total was $1975.00. It's like there was a decimal error! So I lost $65 - I'm guessing that the fee to come out with an insane quote is the main way these guys make money! Stay away!!!

Cons: You will lose a quick $65

We had a leak so we called Gillece for repairs. They charged us $65 to come which I understood. The plumber told us it may cost up to $700 to find and fix the leak which I thought was ridiculous and wanted a second opinion. He then said if he could find it quickly it would cost less. He found the leak in literally 30 seconds! He then told us to come and find the leak with no repair would cost us $438!!!! At that point, they make you sign the contract so you have no choice unless you want to lose $438 for a total 5 minute visit! He then charged us another $373 for the repair. For a 2 hour job he charged us a total of $830!!!! That is $415 per hour! In talking to another plumber this job should have cost under $180. Gillece is ALL about the money so be VERY CAREFUL before you call them. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone! They currently carry a D- rating from the Better Business Bureau due to these kind of issues. They also are in the midst of being sued by other plumbers which indicates the kinds of reputation they have.

They wouldn't tell me the cost of a new water heater until they came to my house and charged me a $75 fee. The rep had a book that listed the prices, which they clearly could have quoted me over the phone. Turns out it was $3000 for a new tank. I had another plumber quote me $600 for the same tank over the phone. And I was still out the $75 just to learn that Gillece is a rip-off. To me that's a scam.

I?m not sure why the poor reviews. Called Gillece last Friday to clean our sewer. They were in and out in no time and the price wasn?t bad. If plumbing was pleasant and easy we would do it ourselves! I will gladly pay for this service!

We had our sewer drain back up slightly and we thought that we just needed it cleaned so we called Gillece for the $99 cleaning, which seems pretty much a gimic to get them into your home and then insist they do more labor. They said they found that roots were blocking the line and we were in imminent danger and it needed to be taken care of asap and had us sign a contract with an emergency order attached which took away our rights to have 3 days to cancel the service. Then they came to us and said we needed to replace our whole system and they had to dig up our whole yard. Since we signed the original contract they would leave our property until we allowed them to complete the job. It was 11:30 at night and all we wanted was to sleep on the decision on whether or not to dig up our whole yard and driveway. It was obvious there was a problem that needed fixed but they hooked us with the emergency order so we did not have time to find out whether or not they were the best people with the best price. We are young and first time homeowners, and they took advantage of my inexperience.

I usually don?t post reviews, I never think to do it, but, my recent experience with the Gillece company was so good, I wanted to share it. We are having some remodeling done (by another company) and were told by them we needed to upgrade our main electrical panel. The Gillece electrician arrived on time was completely knowledgeable and pleasant. He explained everything he was going to do and did a great job! We have never had such a flawless transaction! Will call them again if the need ever arises!

I had a very serious problem with my furnace. My carbon monoxide detector was going off in the middle of the night last Tuesday night. I immedoiately called 911 and the fire department was out in within ten minutes (Thank you South Baldwin VFD). The fire department was able to determine that the problem was with my furnace and they shut it off. I was relieved to know that my home was now safe, but now I needed to get my furnace repaired before I could have heat in my home. I called the company that had performed a tune-up on the furnace last spring and explained to them what had happened. They were very eager to send out a salesman rather than someone to fix the furnace. After sitting through the sales pitch and throwing them out, I decided to get a second opinion. After reading great reviews of Gillece on Google and City Search, I decided to give them a try. John H. from Gillece was so sincere and honest and truly wanted to solve my problem for me for the least amount of out of pocket for me. His honest diagnosis of the problem which turned out to be correct saved me thousands of dollars that the other company almost had me convinced that I needed to spend. Thank you to Gillece and John H for being honest and not trying to take advantage of a scared single mother. When I do finally need to replace my furnace, I will choose Gillece for the work and request John for any work that I need in the future.

This winter has been very trying, but thanks to Gillece, we are safe and warm. Our power went out last Friday with the big snow. We were without power until Monday, and when the power did come back on, the furnace crapped out!!! After days without heat or electricity it was very disappointing to still have no furnace. Gillece to the rescue!! Called for service at 8 PM requesting service. Techncian John showed up around 10:30 and rescued us. I didn't realize until after he had the heat back on that his truck was parked on the next street behind our house, about a 1/4 of a mile away. I would like to highly recommend this company and the heroic efforts of their employees like John that went above and beyond to help us in our time of need. I am a customer for life!!

Called Gillece after horrible backup this morning when our sump-pump stopped working due to all of the rain yesterday. They set me up for a morning appointment in a four hour window. I waited until 11:00 and then they called and saifd they were running behind and could I reschedule or wait it out a little longer. I agreed to wait and by 1:00 they had a very friendly young man arrive and go straight to work. Very efficient and cleared up the problem in no time. Turns out the pump was just clogged and after he jiggled the pipe coming out of the pit the pump kicked on and immediately began pumping out the basement.. He wasn't even going to charge the $99 fee because he said that he didn't have to use his machine, but I paid him anyhow (And now I know what to do the next time this happens). Only gave them four stars because they didn't show up on time but were still ther the same day according to their guarantee.

I called Gillece because of their promise of same day service and their cheap rates offered for sewage cleaning as my sewer was backed up after the holidays. Little did I know when I called them that these were just scams to get their foot in the door. When I had called I found out that I hadn't qualified for their same day service offer as many restrictions applied even though I called before noon, but agreed to having them come out the day after. They had a horrid ""Travel Charge"" of 65.00 (where later I found out from a friend that other plumbers in the area have a travel fee of half the price), and then they shoved only so much cable down my drain before I the technician told me that the drain was still clogged and it would take a little while to unclog. Little did I know that in the fine print it stated that the price of the drain cleaning would increase DRASTICALLY after a certain amount of feet of cable had been used and the longer the plumber sat around my house. I was shocked when I got the bill!! It was outrageous! The amount that I was charged for this job was compounded by having to run cable to the main and the fact that the plumber sat around half the day, increasing his fee!! For all I know these guys run on commission and I paid the guys week-long pay. I will NEVER use Gillece Plumbing ever again and will tell everyone not to! When googling Gillece Plumbing, google automatically suggested the word SCAM after his name and thats what this business is!

I hired Sears to install my washer/dryer and their employees seem to have done something incorrectly because shortly afterwards, the Kohler body spray faucets in my shower started malfunctioning.\r\n\r\nI called at least 4 plumbers in the phone book until I gave up and took my search online. I called several plumbers listed there too and nobody even knew what I was talking about until I called Gillece.\r\n\r\nThe guy they sent out has got to be one of the most knowledgeable plumbers I've ever met. Not only did he pinpoint the exact problem as soon as he saw my faucets, he was professional enough to get the job done the same day, and without much ado, and for very little money.\r\n

We have done business with many other heating and air conditioning companies over the years and were never really quite happy until we contacted Gillece plumbing and heating. They are always very prompt, friendly and extremely professional and their techs are absolutley the best in the business. Our favorite tech is Albert, he is very smart and always finds the problem and makes it right the first time. My advice is to forget the rest and call the best! Gillece plumbing and heating.?

Called Gillece this morning very early at 7 am. They scheduled me for a 8-12 call and asured me that I would receive a call from dispatcher half hour before they send the service man. They called me at 11:00 and asked me if I could reschedule for the afternoon due to how busy they were. What choice did I have, I said yes. They put me in the 12 to 4 slot and assured me that I was going to be serviced the same day. They called me back around 2:30 and said they had their best technician on his way to me. I was skeptical, but Mike showed up about 15 minutes later, looked at the furnace and fixed it for only the $95 trip charge. He found that I only had a loose wire, which he tightened. Honest service and honest employees, which saved me money.

Called Gillece on Monday with a backed up drain. They scheduled me for the same day but were not able to get to me that day because of how busy they were. I asked about the same day or free promotion that they advertise. They said that my call did not qualify for that because I had called in after the 12 oclock deadline, but the dispatcher was so understanding of our prediciament that he waived the charges anyhow. Gillece worker showed up first thing Tuesday morning and snaked out drain for absolutely no charge. I was so impressed with how great their customer service is and their great guarantee that they live up to that I had to write a recommendation for them online.

They get the job done for the highest imaginable price. We have a rule in our house - NEVER CALL GILLECE. Most recent experience - I had a small leak in a gas valve serving a fireplace. I called Gillece, knowing it was a minor repair, and agreed to the ""trip charge"" or $65.00, to be applied to the total charge. The estimate was $650.00. I sent Gillece away and fixed the leak myself for a total cost of $2.50 (two dollars and fifty cents) for parts from Home Depot. The other instance involved a quote for a new high efficiency furnace. Gillece quoted $8,500.00. I got the same furnace installed and with the same warranty from Alberts Pluming and Heating for $5,500. That's a difference of three thousand. GILLECE GOUGES ON PRICE

Met all the inclusions for 24 hour service or it's free guarantee after company unable to keep two scheduled appointments and had to bump us to the next day. When technician arrived, had to press him to honor free labor and waiving service fee ($95.00). Estimate given of $221.00 for cost of replacement part needed that lists on most web sites for between $29-40. Found another company that replaced part and labor costs for under $150.00. They were also on time for appointment.'

After having several contractors bid on the installation of my claw-foot tub, I had to deal with a lot of missed appointments, no call backs, and people being late even when I was trying to give them money! The installation required some creative rearranging of the existing drain and supply lines. The location of these was in a precarious spot and several people told me that they might have to tear out walls and ceilings in my dining room and kitchen to get it done. I called Gillece and Jerry came out and talked through an approach that made the most sense. The quote was higher than everyone else, but the warranties on my tub and fixtures were only good if installed by licensed plumbers, which Gillece plumbers are. I felt good about going with Gillece but I was still holding my breath after being burned on a previous project that never ended, never completed, and the contractor left it to me to try and track down his workers to show up myself. Jerry from Gillece had a crew manager call me and tell me that the installation would take 3 separate trips and would take 3 days. He said that each day someone would show up at 9. Fast forward... Their guys were early every day, completed everything on time and moved a 350lb tub in, and up a flight of steps without so much as a scratch to a wall and even hauled off my old materials that I had. I can't tell you how happy I am with their service, timeliness, and their respect for leaving no trace. I would recommend them to anyone for any remodeling project. The extra $$ will save you headaches and may wind up being cheaper in the long run.\r\n

We have an older (80+years) but very well kept home. When we called Gillece to fix a clogged sewer, we had a feeling it may need to be replaced, and it did. The treatment we received as far as service and professionalism was fantastic and the job was done right the first time. It WAS expensive, as I would expect any job of this size would be. Besides, where I come from, you get what you pay for?..

I called Gillece on a Sunday afternoon. It was my daughter?s 7th B-Day and our whole house was stopped up and the main bathroom was overflowing. I was in a panic with a whole house full of moms and kids. I called at least 10 other companies with no answer or answering services taking messages. One of the moms suggested that I ?Call Gillece? and to my surprise, the office was staffed just like it was a regular weekday. The dispatcher assured me he would have a plumber out within an hour. Steve from Gillece showed up at our door within 30 minutes and gave us what he called ?temporary relief? but what I call savior. Only charged $99 for the service. First thing Monday morning, they came back and hooked us up with a permanent fix for the problem. Will definitely call again if we have problems and recommend highly.

In an emergency situation last winter, Gillece showed up to do a job that comparable companies would charge from $900-$1200. Gillece charged almost $8000. They took advantage of the situation and are sociopathic in their dealings. Whether there is flooding in your home, potentially fatal gas leakage, furnace on fire...whatever. Just leave your home immediately and take the time to do the research on the company you choose to do the work. If I had the time to read the reviews, they would've never been called. They are protected according to the attorney generals's office by PA laws that say they can charge whatever they want, especially in an emergency sitution. BEWARE!!! Do NOT Call them for any reason.

Gillece came to my house to unclog a backed up sewer. They worked on it for about an hour and a half; then the plumber told me the sewer must be collapsed because he was pulling up mud. (Hmmm....lets think what mud is....decomposed plants, animals etc....what the hell do you expect to be in a 70yr old pipe?)he stopped called his supervisor to come out with a camera. (The camera was pointless because the pipe was full of water and muck, you could not see a thing.) They then proceeded to give an estimate of over $6,000 to replace about three feet of sewer pipe. To boot, my main shutoff valve was leaking; Gillece quoted $700 to change a $50 valve. Two days later a different company came out and unclogged the sewer with no problem. The price to change the shutoff was $130. \n\nGillece's work is guaranteed for life but do you really think that I'll have to do this job 5 more times in my lifetime?\n\nGillece price: $50 for parts $650 for labor= $700\nOther Plumbers: $50 for parts $80 for labor= $130 \n\nI'd like my $99 back for not unclogging the pipe and trying to run a scam.

I don't believe that they are worth the money they charge. I was sick at the stomach when my husband told me what he had spent. No more leaks, but I believe that what they charged should be considered criminal. I am telling all my friends and anyone who will listen that if they call this company to be sure and get another estimate before they let these people do the work. I cetainly cannot recommend without a very very strong warning....

Pros: Service right away

Cons: Too Too Expensive

Great customer service, very funny guys, easy to work with.... They told me the exact problem and showed me what to do and what not to do. *Note to self: Never use Drain-O. It's bad for the drains....eats away at everything, INCLUDING the pipes, leading to larger problems and ultimately more money.* \r\n\r\nWhy didn't I give them 5 stars, you ask? Well, this is the first time I've had to call a plumber, so I don't know what constitutes as a 5-star rating. Plus, they left a little mess for me to clean up. Nothing a bath towel or a Sham-WOW couldn't do though!

I made an appointment for plumbing work in advance. When I called in I asked them for when they had an opening. They said between 12 and 4 on Friday. I took half day off of work to be there. As of 4:30pm they had not shown. I called and they said they were running late and could I reschedule for Saturday. The answer was no. I already lost $200.00 in pay taking the time off. Its not like I called for same day service. I expected better.

Last week I called Gillece to replace some plumbing in my home. The young man they sent was very knowlegable and polite. He and another plumber did the work right the first time and cleaned up after. I am recommending this company to all who will listen!

I was called at work by my mother telling me that she had a plumber at her home telling her that she needed a new water heater. My mother and father are in their eighties and have been making some very ""questionable"" financial decisions recently. I was very relieved (and quite frankly stunned) that they called me to tell me that they were considering buying a lifetime warranted water heater from Gillece and that the plumber in their home actually suggested that they call me to make sure that they were making a good decision. Needless to say, they did not need a lifetime warranty on anything, but I was very impressed with the fact that the plumber recognized that my Mom and Dad were not at their best when it came to financial decisions and suggested to them that they include me in the decision. Thankfully I was given the opportunity to review the different options for water heater replacement and make a decision to just choose the lowest warranty option since we are planning to move Mom and Dad in with us. I don't beleive all of the negative reviews that are posted on this review website. They must be being posted by either a jealous competitor or a disgruntled employee, because my experience with this company has been completely the opposite. Gillece was not cheap, but I wouldn't trust anyone else to deal with my vulnerable elderly parents and I will highly recommend them to anyone that asks.

I had some plumbing problems that were easily diagnosed and fixed on the first call. Technician looked at all my plumbing and gave me a time table for bringing up my 50 year old home up to speed. There was no pressure, just helpful advice. I plan on using them gain for furnace service.
