Worst moving experience ever. Tennessee to Louisiana. Driver was four days late, but did call every day to tell me he would be there the next day. Called Friday night to say he would there at 8:00 Saturday morning. Showed up at 2:30 with two kids he picked up off Craigslist. Asked for cash in advance as his wife and kids didn't have money for food. Drank beer and wine coolers out of the refrigerator to "wash down" his "pain pills". Didn't finish Saturday so he said he would be back at 8:00 a.m. for a couple of hours. Showed up at 10:30, didn't finish until 7:30 that night. Didn't have enough room on the truck so I had to rent a Uhaul at the last minute. Did not leave TN until 5:00 pm on Monday as he had to shop for a USED tire for his trailer. Lots of scratches on furniture. One of his helpers smoked marijuana during unloading. Kept hinting to my wife for free meals.

Grand Express Van Lines recently moved our large family (of 12) across town. We had planned this huge move and were concerned when it started pouring down rain. However, the men were unfazed. They worked ten hours straight while children and pets ran around and the thunder clapped. Frank and Walker were excellent movers. Most impressive was their creative maneuvering of our enormous 4 poster bed and granite armoire from the second floor. They snaked their way down and we did not have to remove the rails, it was an amazing feat! We are pleased to post this review as we are grateful. They truly made the move painless.

Our problems just started when they showed up a day later than promised. There was not enough room on the truck to take our shipment, so it took them two days to load our belongings. Then the price more than doubled from $2933 to $7500, due to the fact that our shipment was never updated by the sales representative that we contacted several times (but at this point we were stuck because we had to be out of our house). They showed up late the second day to finish our move. They also had no boxes like we were promised. We had to wait nine days for our things to come and we were never informed that not all of our belongings would be delivered. So some of our things were still in storage and we didn't realize it until we sorted through them. We had some damaged items and were told we would be sent a claim form, by David, and we never got it. After at least two dozen phone calls and emails (one day I called 13 times in three hours and got voice mail every time) we were told the rest of our things would be delivered at a later date. We were promised a delivery date of 9/14/14 (27 days later) by Grand Express Van Lines and again our things were not delivered. We have been more than patient with this company but this is bordering on ridiculous. We have wasted quite a few days waiting on this company only to be disappointed. I have all the emails sent to and received by this company. This is like a nightmare that just won't end. There is a lot more to this tale but I don't have enough room to list everything.

If you are thinking about using this company please do your research, you will think you are getting a deal but don't be shocked when your price increases and your thngs go missing. Read the critical reviews and take heed. I can only deduce that the good reviews were written by the company or their friends. The customer service is horrible, they obviously don't adhere to the rule that the customer is always right. How this company has a B rating with the BBB is beyond amazing to me.
I learned my lesson the hard way, "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR". Save yourself a ton of anxiety and headaches and go with a reputable mover!!!!
P.S. Get moving Insurance

Very bad representatives Joey. I would not recommend to to go with them.

I did not book them because they were not in office during the office hours and then they kept on calling me and sent abusive email when I wrote them that because you guys were not available after 3 PM even though you claim to be available upto 5 PM I dont want to rely on you.

I can share abusive emails from Joey claiming that I hanged his call.

Hello fellow insiders,

I wanted to take a few minutes to let the readers know that Grand Express was world class. I never would have chosen them if it wasnt from a combination of reviews, price, reputation and ofcourse Mitchell the sales guy.

When my husband asked me to find a moving company for our move to Tennessee I did what anyone else would do and I put my information into some database, next day I was flooded with phone calls (oops). I was over whelmed and was not expecting it to be cut throa (moving is hard, you shouldnt be hard on your potential clients). Mitchell was understanding and helped us with out being pushy or annoying.

We moved from New Jersey where we lived our entire lives and it was pretty sad to leave but I knew that we needed to find a good company. Horror stories or not, I was not going to let that happen to us, so I did my research and Mitchell helped me with the research even gave us a ton of advice. We decided to go with Grand Express because everything seemed just right with them.

On the move day which was March 11th the crew arrived and they were everything we hoped for in movers. The were Reasonably priced. Professional. Responsive. Organized. Quick. Attentive. Courteous.

too summarize, I am glad that I found the right company for my large home long distance move. They were so professional and genuine about the whole move.

A+ price
A+ quality of service
A+ over all experience

I encourage anyone who is reading this to consider them. You will thank me later.

Thanks again Grand Express, it was a pleasure to have you move us.

Please beware of this company. I used them a couple months ago and could not believe how unprofessional they were. I haven't filed a complaint with them directly as I am in the process of taking legal action against them.

They damaged most of my furniture and stole some of my items. They treated my belongings like they were trash. They showed up late, so of course they were in a hurry.

They also charged way more than the original estimate claiming I had more stuff than they thought. Maybe if they sent out estimators like other moving companies they wouldn't have this problem. I think it's a tactic they use to get business. Once the truck is loaded the customer doesn't have a choice but to pay them the higher amount.

I think the lack of respect overall was the topper. There were a couple pieces of furniture I have that needed to be dismantled. Instead they tried to move the items intact and after damaging them they proceeded to take apart. Some items that they broke or damaged were hidden until after they left.

Again, please be aware of this company. They are not what they claim to be. I am sure the positive reviews are from employees/friends.

Business Response:

Sir/Miss: On the 26th of January we received this complaint from a Karen H. Karen claimed that we moved her, we did our investigation and to our surprise we have not found any record of this client. We never moved a Karen H. Who ever this person is clearly is trying to tarnish out reputation for some reason. We at Grand Express Van Lines really strive to make every move a masterpiece of a move. Please you have to examine who this person is because it will ruin our reputation on insiderpages. If you have any questions please contact us at Info@gevanlines.com

The company of my first choice was booked the day I needed them so I turned to Grand Express Van Lines, who were ready to accommodate me on very specific date and time (pre-holiday too). They ended up being just awesome!

What a quick and efficient move! Very friendly guys and truly caring about your belongings - they wrapped up things I wouldn't have even bothered wrapping.
The quote was spot on and the only extra charge was 100$ in supplies, but I honestly expected it to be higher. My finest moving experience yet.
I am so grateful for all of their help and professionalism, will definitely use them again.

My experience was the same as Keith D/7/31/13.

I was given a quote of $2400 or 8,000 lbs at 30 cents a lb. As soon as the movers arrived Michael started saying that he would take care of me if I would take care of him - meaning hefty tip.

To start things off Grand Express didn't arrive until 2:30 in the afternoon instead of the mornining as I expected. They came through my place like a tornado.

When it became too late to go to a weigh station I was told that my items filled the truck which meant it was over the weight and the price I was quoted. I had a 2 bedroom house and though I have a lot of things, most boxes were light. So, the cost went up $600 which blew me away. I could understand a couple hundred dollars, but not $600 and without a weigh ticket I had no proof.

To make matters worse my move was an 1 1/2 hours away, so the unpacking didn't begin until 10:30. I wasn't asked where I wanted things. I explained the boxes needed to go into one room on the lower level. Well, the boxes went in along with anything else they could throw.

I have a frig that was supposed to go to in a room on the lower level but the driver kept saying it wouldn't fit. It would have fit if they did what they were supposed to do - remove the door from the frig, but they didn't want to be bothered. I was lucky they put my bed together since they didn't bother with anything else. They damaged what furniture I have seen - some is still buried in the room with all the boxes.

I also have a box with perishable food that is also in that room - I'm sure it's going to start smelling soon.

I kept telling them about things that needed to be transported by me, but since the guy who was moving most of the boxes didn't understand or speak English he kept donig what he wanted to. When I would question the driver he would tell me he knew best - really - it was my stuff and I had to pay the bill.

You can bet they didn't get a tip. I just wanted them to leave as I felt like I was abused. I was told my new place was very tiny - same amount of rooms. I also had to deal with comments about my things which I think was totally inappropriate - again I was paying them. As it got later I started hearing how long of a drive they had to get home - again not my problem as I was paying them.

I will never use this company again, nor will I recommend them. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and informed Grand Express of the complain. Now they are offering me $300 back which is half of the overcharge. They kept saying they would give me $150 back, but I didn't think that was a fair amount. Now I will have to see how long it will take to get the funds back.

Hi,
I have had a very positive experience with Grand Express Van Line when we moved from Verona in New Jersey to McKinney, in Texas that I would like to share with you. The process and scheduling was very easy and hassle free. The company people were very courteous and polite. They were so on time that I couldn't believe and very fast in processing and taking care of the move. In fact, our household items were picked up earlier that what it was scheduled and delivered one day prior to schedule time. The help and respect we received from Grand Express is one of a kind and we couldn't believe it. I highly recommend to use Grand Express Van Line for all your moving needs because I have had opportunity with other movers but no one came close to my positive experience with Grand Express.
I wish them more of success and best of business in this industry.

Grand Express Van Lines is the first moving company that I've had experience and they were amazing. I will never go back to moving anything without professional movers again, they spared me from so much headache. GEVL made it super easy to schedule the move and were pretty spot on with their estimate of both the time and the cost. I opted for packing services as well as moving, and the movers treated my stuff like it was their own. I was so impressed with their delicate treatment of my glass china cabinet and the TV. The guys that we got were strong, efficient and friendly. It was a very long day, but they used a lot of intelligence and experience in their actions. I liked how they consistently asked where things should go instead of just plunking them down. Totally worth the money!

I have several concerns about our pickup experience 7/12/13. First of all, we had been originally scheduled 7/10, you re-scheduled for 7/12, then the appt. time got pushed back from 1 pm to after 7 pm. Secondly, we thought the company "packing us" meant you would pack the boxes, not just load the boxes on the truck (thank goodness, we had enough of our own boxes and completed the packing while the moving team worked). Thirdly, we were told that it would be delivered within 7-10 days, instead of up to three weeks. The delivery date is scheduled for this Friday, 7/26/13. Lastly, but not least our main concern is the fact that he had my husband sign a revised written estimate, under duress, after the truck was loaded and all of our belongings were loaded onto the truck. I did discuss this with a man who claimed to be the owner, who didn't seem alarmed about any of these details.

Let me explain further; we utilized the estimated inventory list and came up with around 5,500 lbs. For our 2 bedroom home. Prior to the load, Demetri, the moving team leader/driver, visualized the load and approved it. We had more than 85% of our belongings in our garage already stacked.

After the truck was loaded on Saturday morning 7/13 @ 12:15 am, Demetri, insisted on more money based on his visual estimate, This was after he did a walk around prior to starting and said this looks right. No problem. After everything was in the truck he said the load was 30,000 lbs because the truck was fully loaded. When Keith pointed out that the top of the truck wasn't packed, he decreased the load amount offer to 18,000 lbs, then 13,000 lbs, then to 9,500 lbs and that we would make out better in this deal, as well as this would help him out. This sounded like a bribe to both my husband and myself and he persisted at least a dozen times to re-offer. We are hard-working, honest people, and we don't feel that employees should be dishonest with their employers. Keith stated that he honors his contracts and didn't want to vary from the stated 40 cents/lb, and that the weigh slip would reflect the true weight, not just an estimate. Demetri then started to raise his voice and get animated with his body language, to a point where I was intimidated. Demetri stated that Keith would either have to go to the weigh station at 12:30 in the morning or sign the revised written statement. We don't know if this is a regular practice for your company or your employees to complete paperwork dishonestly, but it put us in an uncomfortable position. Keith didn't feel that leaving our home at that time of the morning to go to a weigh station that may/may not be open wasn't ideal, safe, or in our contract. Keith ended up signing (but felt he was forced) the revised estimate which reads that the load is estimated at 11,500 lbs. because the situation was tense and felt there wasn't any other way for this man to leave our home. Also, per law, this revised written estimate is only valid if fully executed before any work begins. AND We are still waiting for delivery.

When I first used them, I was so troubled at the huge discrepancy in prices. At my wits end, I went with Grand Express. WOW: I never thought I would be moving 4 more times in the last 2 years. Of course, I didn't hesitate to use them again! Open and honest communication. Care and consideration for my 7,000# of antiques and valuables. Good Advice, flexible and no hidden anything! They save us $ cuz they don't broker out their jobs & they own their own trucks. I would never let anyone I love use another company. Same great service with all 5 moves I had to make. Call me anytime with questions. 914-907-7725 Lorraine

I would like to recommend Grand Express Van Lines to anyone who is looking for a reliable moving company that doesnt overcharge for their service. These guys went above and beyond. They came on time, looked clean and professional in company t-shirts, were polite and respectful. They worked non-stop in the scorching heat and never complained once. They disassembled bed frames, packed everything super carefully and padded every item. The move was effortless and not too hard on my wallet. Great team, excellent customer services. Ive already referred them to all my friends and will absolutely use them next time I move.

I was very impressed with this company. They haver very competitive rates, actually other companies quoted kept move at about 45% more expensive. I move my family in April from new Jersey to Austin Texas. We have a four bedroom home. We had estimators come in and quote us at 2000cubic feet and 10,000 lbs however grand express quoted me at 8,000 lbs. The final bill was 8100lbs.
I learned from a previous family move to never use large moving companies. All of them have terrible complaints with the BBB, Grand Express offered lower rates with SUPERIOR service compared to the experience I had with a large company.
GE Van LInes helped us save almost $1800, that's ALOT of money. They are helpful, courteous and friendly throughout the whole process. I am very thankful for them and will always recommend them.

It's the first time that I actually want to write a review for a moving company because I am happy with them. I used Grand Express Van Lines for my local move (from Paterson to Morganville, NJ). The company was very responsive to my emails and calls. I had to change the moving date twice since my closing date kept being postponed - and it was not a problem!
The movers came right on time and were very polite and respectful. They packed me up and loaded everything on their truck within 4 hours, never stopping for even a short break. The crew was very accommodating and listened to our particular needs. They placed all furniture pieces where I asked them and even gave practical recommendations what should go where. The total cost did not exceed their estimation.
5 stars well deserved!

I moved from Maryland a few weeks ago up to New York. I was stressed because I just got a new job and I had to relocate my entire family. After getting calls from 10-15 companies I picked grand express van lines because Mitch provided details and assured me that I would be in good hands.

I was blown away by how quick the crew packed my belongings and wrapped my furniture. Top notch service or a low rate. I was practically expecting to pay 3 times more than the actual price.

Thanks Mitch and David for making my relocation a breeze for me and my family. I will always use Grand Express for my moving needs.
