Took 84 GMC for front end alignment they had to keep it over night and the next morning when the grandson pick it up was told it was leaking water. This was strange because it was OK when it was brought in. After he babied it home we found

$41 for a flat tire\r
I pulled in to the Highway 281, "Bring Your Own Parts" needing air in my space saver spare while on my way to get the regular tire repaired. The sales guy said they could repair the tire so I said OK. After waiting

You will be making a huge mistake by doing business with byop! Nothing but a gimmick with respect to all the free estimates they offer ie free pressure test for cooling etc. maybe it was just the 281 store and a con artist named Justin.

Please don't go there. Why did they name the place 'Bring your own parts'? Beats me. This business is full of gimmicks.

These guys were up front and charged me the price I was quoted. They didn't sugar coat anything and didn't try to haggle me when I said I didn't want something.

I started going to bring your own parts back in Oct '11 where I used to take all my business to a local Firestone. BYOP was really helpful in finding the parts for me and installing them the same day while I waited in their main lobby. \n\nThe reason I'm giving them 5 stars is because of their dedication to resolve a complex issue on my Acura's Power Steering pump. I work for an IT industry and when a real interesting issue arises we have to investigate and setup monitors to help determine the issue. This can sometimes take longer than a couple of days resolve. Well BYOP did exactly this. They replaced the pump with an aftermarket, which created a noise issue only when turning the wheel slightly. It didn't start until I left the shop and arrived in Austin. They replaced it with another aftermarket under warranty and the next pump worked but started to create a noise as well. There was an issue with the pulley that was not completely straight and the tensioner that caused the belt to come off.\n\nIt seemed like a disaster but they assigned Martin to me, where they researched the issue and collaborated together. It turns out Acura?s have a difficult time with some select aftermarket parts and doesn?t take to them well. I had to go OEM, which I researched myself, and was the right thing to do to in the first place. As I had already paid for labor, I just had to pay the difference for the OEM parts. When I left my car there they drove me across the street on Bandera to Avis where they have a nice discount for BYOP customers and the Avis staff is very friendly. Again, BYOP took care of ordering all the OEM parts and returning the aftermarket parts without adding to the additional cost and pain of returning parts. They researched that you had to clean out and install the slot where the tensioner goes and they never gave up until my car was noise free. It?s an 11 year old car but still drives like I got it off the lot. \n\nThey have a great system for documenting all the service/labor and it?s available online as well. For a company who does not know the history of the maintenance and things do go wrong after 11 years ?, I?ll quote Martin ?There is always a resolution, just need time to diagnosis and resolve it?. Thanks BYOP and staff at Bandera.

i had my wifes '99 Lexus towed to BYOP to have a new transmission installed after two astronomical quotes from different Transmission Shops. Shortly there after I lost my job and was unable to pay for the work completed by BYOP. I spoke w/Martin (the owner) and he was very understanding of my situation. SEVERAL months later I was able to gather the money together and pay for the work completed. Martin was very easy to deal with and he didn't even charge me storage for the time our car sat there after the repair. What a huge blessing! I found BYOP to be honest and more than fair in dealing with me. I would highly recommend BYOP to anyone I know who is in need of any auto repairs. \nRD- San Antonio

I have been dealing with Bring your own parts since they opened. I have always received good service and honest opinions.\n\nI am not an expert on car repair and i know that sometimes it needs more work than i thought. \nMartin has ALWAYS been upfront with me and told me what needs to be done to keep my car running.\n\nThey have gone out of their way to help me in more than one occasion - i recommend them to anyone. \n\nJust remember, there are no easy fixes in car repair and it sometimes takes longer than expected. IF you need it done right, Bring your own parts can get the job done - they saved me $500 on my last repair by taking the extra time to fix another shops mistakes.\n\nThis is the case more often than not! Thanks guys

This place is horrible. I called on a wednesday to make an appointment to have the heater core repaced in my '93 S10 Blazer the next day. They told me it would take one day. They replaced the heater core, but it took two days for them to do it. I go to pick my truck up and the dash is loose. I tell them to fix it. They take it back, fix it and bring it out. I was about to leave when I noticed none of my gauges worked. They had worked when I brought in it. I tell them to fix it. Two days later I go to pick it up and now the horn doesnt work, the power mirror control doesnt work and the tempurature adjuster for the ac doesnt work. I tell them that this is bullcrap and that I had already missed two days of school and one day of work. I will never go here again!!! The service was horrible and they didnt even vacuum out the dirt they put inside of the truck.

THESE PEOPLE GET A ONE STAR ONLY BECAUSE I CANNOT GIVE THEM SOMETHING LOWER....\n\nI took my car in for an oil leak. They quoted a price of around $250 to replace gaskets. I drove my car in on its own power. They proceeded to dismantle my car and called me with an inflated price of $800. I told them not to do the work I would take my car somewhere else. They told me I could come get my car but I would have to have it towed away because it was not running, and I would still have to pay them the original $250 for taking my car apart. I had to let them do the work at the inflated price, but I vowed I would never go there again. \n\nIn the meantime, they had done something to my car because the ?check engine? light came on after I picked it up. It was also running rough and the engine was idling very high. I took it back and they told me that they did not know why the engine was idling so high; and that it would cost me money to have the engine checked to see why it was idling high. They also told me that my brakes were about to give out and it would cost about $500 to have them fixed.\n\nNeedless to say, I was not going to have them do any more work on my car. I took it to another mechanic [an honest mechanic] who listened to the engine and told me it was idling high because someone had tighten something in the engine to make it idle high. The honest mechanic took some pliers and loosened whatever it was that was causing the engine to run fast and it has been running smooth ever since. \n\nI would never, ever, positively never let BYOP touch any car of mine ever again, even if they were the only auto mechanics left open in the city.

I had some body work done about a year ago at 911. I was pleased with the job and service so I went to their sister business at BYOP when my clutch went out. The owner went out of his way to not only communicate with me but also to run across town to get the right parts in order to get me my car back asap. Car went in one afternoon and was ready the next day! Not only did my car come out driving like new it also looked like new. My car was washed and looked detailed. Never have I been impressed with a shop as much as this one. I used to do all my own work because of the poor performance of so many places but this place will be my only mechanic from now on!

I took my jeep to get the a/c done , and was quoted 2 prices .. i told the mechanic I had a back problem that he would obivously have to do everything , long story short .. i paid 366.00 dollars for a non-working a/c job. The manager said that they don't warranty the parts. Problem was they didn't install the part it needed , another Garage did the work these ppl couldn't do Bad.. PR & Bad work...... never once did the manager try to make things right , my next e-mail is the BBB.

I hate to throw cold water on people who have praised this facility to the heavens, but a little reality is due. First of all, they advertise proudly-NO GIMMICKS! Well, the first gimmick they threw at me when I went in to get a quote for repair to my vehicle was the $9.95 charge for shop supplies (gloves, towels, etc.). The second was when they called for parts prices from Advance and the price they quoted to me was almost $35. more than what I have paid for the same parts at Auto Zone. They then called Auto Zone and adjusted the price down. Then the price they quoted me for their labor turned out to be $100 more than what I had received from another facility. I told them that and they immediately lowered the labor cost by $101 in order to get my business as they so graciously put it. \r\n\r\nThese people are full of gimmicks and tricks-if you don't have your wits about you, they'll be happy to take you to the cleaners with a smile. I'll give that to them-they were courteous and friendly, smiling the entire time.\r\n\r\nBeware of NO GIMMICKS!\r\n\r\n

After my car died on a late Saturday night on Bandera Road, I called a friend to help me out. Fast forward 6 days. Still waiting on friend to fix my car PLUS a big chunk of rental car costs. Finally heard from the friend who at that point decided to back out.\r\n\r\nI could not be in a worse position.\r\n\r\nThe answer to my prayers! BYOP not only brought my dead car from down the road for much less than I would have paid for a rental but gave me a beautiful price. Along the way they helped in so many ways and made sure I was getting the best deal possible. \r\n\r\nFrom now on I am not going to hesitate to bring my car in to BYOP. \r\n\r\nBest deals cost and quality wise in town by a long shot!

BYOP was GOD sent. I am a full time nursing student and only work part time and both of my vehices decided to break down on me which put me in a real bind. I called around and heard about BYOP on a commercial and thought i would give them a try. I called Martin (awesome guy) and he said he can tow my car into the shop. They found what the problem was to both of my vehicles and felt doomed....but he said those magic words "" Not to worry I will work with you and get one of your vehicles working for you!"" And he did....I still have my other car there and hoping to get it running real soon...I will never go anywhere else. Martin and his team are are true and honest people and urge everyone to give them a chance.... You will not be disappointed!! THANKs BYOP!! Maria\r\n

I had one of the most rewarding experiences in my lifetime of being a car owner and needing repair work done and having found, perhaps, the best vehicle repair center in San Antonio, Texas. \r\nMy 1999 Subaru Forester's CV Joints were going bad and I needed to have them replaced. I searched the yellow pages for Subaru dealerships and name-brand local repair centers, to see how their prices compared, in my attempt to save a little money during this season of economic strife that has affected mostly everyone's budget. As a retired military professional and a current University student, I have to watch more closely, my budget and the rising gasoline costs does not help matters either. \r\n\r\nI saw a commercial on television that was sponsored by the auto repair center, ""Bring Your Own Parts"", and I admit, at first, I was very skeptical in thinking they must not have the capabilities to do what my dealerships have done in the past. Like most of society, I always felt to get the service, we had to pay the higher costs associated. After talking to a few auto mechanic friends of mine, they said they highly recommend the Bring Your Own Parts shop and the reason their prices were considerably lower is because they want to introduce a more sensible approach to the general public to have an alternative to vehicle repair work. \r\nI brought my Subaru Forester to them yesterday and they not only put on new cv joints/axels, their total price including parts and labor for both axels, was much cheaper than what I had paid in the past for the dealership to do for just one axel. I could hardly believe that I ever had any doubt. \r\nTheir Customer Service and technical staff were courteous and professional and the best part of it is they do not push themselves upon the customer to get your business. They not only answered all of my questions that I had regarding the hows and whys to mechanical questions that most of us perhaps do not know much about, they also noted projected work that I might want to have done on my vehicle in the near future. An example is them taking me on a round-about tour of my vehicle to point out my struts are going to need replacing soon due to dry rot of the seals. They had me physically look at the vehicle up close and showed me the normal deterioration wear and tear on the struts. \r\nThey will not only beat anyone's price for vehicle repair, they will wash your car through a profession car wash service, and they gave me a wonderful flashlight key chain as a thankyou momento.\r\nI plan to do more business with them and I would highly recommend the ""Bring Your Own Parts"" auto repair business to anyone who is serious about the care and quality work done for their vehicle. After all, we all must protect our investments and with the economy going through the turbolent times now, we must save our capital every which way we can.\r\nThank you, ""Bring Your Own Parts"" Staff, on 6610 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, TX 78250, you restored my faith in honest auto repair centers.\r\nSincerely,\r\nRal Wri,\r\nLoyal Customer

I needed the Serpetine belt put on my car so my mom told me to go see the guys at Bring Your Own Parts. I had seen the one on bandera rd, but never gave it a second glance. I went in there one morning to get that put on. They were very courious to me and seemed to be very knowledgable about mechanics. There was an additional issue with my vehicle so they took me into the bay and showed me exactly what it was and what would happen if it was not repaired. I authorized the work and they proceeded to tackle the Serpetine belt. They got the work done and Im riding around town with a new belt. Oh and I forgot to mention...the price...not that bad.

Dropped vehicle off to have gearbox and front end parts replaced. Very simple to have done, just time consuming. Initially, they called me saying the gearbox I purchased at NAPA was no good. Hard to believe because NAPA makes the best parts next to dealer parts. So now, they have me paying installation fee times 2!!! 9 days later, I get a call that the alignment shop (good year) could not align the vehicle and they had to bring it back to their shop and figure out why it would not align. A few days later they get it back into be aligned.. magically, it has been aligned. I pick it up (2 1/2 weeks later)..... they lost the alarm remote, the door hinge pin was halfway hanging out and the door was sagging two inches and would not close and there is a loud metal-on-metal scraping sound coming from my brakes... that was not there before. Two days before I picked it up, the manager (Martin) informed me it was doing that and he would look into it... guess he didn't look into that problem too much... because nothing was done. After yelling at him on how horrible this experience, he offers to take another look at that problem...NO WAY was I going to let them touch my vehicle. \r\n\r\nI couldn't be more disappointed with an auto shop and their service. BRING YOUR OWN PARTS = WE WILL SCREW UP YOUR CAR AND CREATE MORE PROBLEMS FOR YOU IN THE LONG RUN.

I was getting really tired of going to the dealership and being overcharged for repairs because they mark up the parts like crazy. My car has over 100,000 miles on it so I wanted to make sure that all of the maintenance that was required was up to date. I had to have a timing belt, water pump, air filter replaced and several other things that were due for service. They were fast and friendly and my car runs GREAT now. I can really feel a difference in the way it drives and I feel so much better about paying for everything when I know I'm not being ripped off on the parts! Thank you Bring Your Own Parts, I will recommend to everyone I know!

Finally a fair place to have auto repair performed , they helped me find the parts at the very best price. They showed me the problem with the car and gave me a fair price for the labor. And best of all they fixed it the same day and were extremely friendly and honest. Next time you need auto repair give BYOP a try you won't be disappointed, they lived up to all the hype.

After a year of driveing by B.Y.O.P. I finally stoped by to have some (alot) of work done on my car which is hard to find parts for. Well, not only did they fix it and save me over $300.00, but found the parts in less then an hour. I went to the same repair shop for 12 years, but now I've found a new one. If you want great service and pronto, I say go to B.Y.O.P. You've tryed the rest, now try the BEST. ""DOC""

I've had to take my car in a few times for different reasons and BYOP has been simply fantastic! The first time I drove up late and they replaced the latch right away. This last time, something else was broken and they worked on my truck until they found what was wrong, purchased the replacement, and I was able to still keep my evening plans! Everybody is very helpful, professional, and friendly. I definitely recommend BYOP to anybody whose car needs some special attention!

Growing up I had the privilege of learning how to do automobile repairs from my dad. His philosophy is why not learn how to do the repairs yourself and save money and avoid the dealer at ALL cost!\r\nSo, over the years I have pretty much done all the repairs on our vehicles myself. Recently I had to do a rear brake job on my 2005 Jetta and came across a major roadblock with the caliper piston. A co-worker had just recently told me about their experience with BYOP and how happy they were with the outcome. So I called BYOP one morning, and within the hour my car was at the shop being repaired.\r\nAs with any repair, unforeseen additional repairs needed to be done. I was taken to my vehicle and a complete description of the needed repairs was told to me and actually was shown the actual parts and their impending failure. The staff at BYOP worked with me at getting the necessary parts to complete the repair within the budget guidelines I had set forth!\r\nI will continue to do as much repairs that I can myself, but rest assured in the fact that BYOP will always be a viable resource for me and will come highly recommended to my not so mechanically inclined friends.\r\n

Had seen the commerials on tv and thought would give it a try. Not only do you just pay for the labor but you get great customer sevice. I have bought my truck in twice and both times I was pleased with the service and final cost for repairs. Martin has been very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I will definately continue to take my truck to BYOP!

Martin,\r\n\r\nI heard about ?Bring Your Own Parts? through a neighbor of mine who had previously had some work done on his truck. He boasted about how happy he was with your service and I decided to give it a try. My boyfriend has a 2003 Ford Focus and unfortunately hadn?t kept up with it and I made it my personal goal to slowly begin some maintenance on it. I knew what some of the problems were and got prices from the dealer and other mechanics and the prices were outrageous. From the moment I drove up to the BYOP shop, I was met with friendly faces and an awesome waiting area. My vehicle was looked at immediately and I was given a breakdown of what the problems were. I was then told the exact parts which were needed and given the option of buying them myself or you could provide them at your cost. I was absolutely stunned at what the market price was on the parts and what you could offer me. When the repairs began on my vehicle, a problem was found, which I was not aware of, and you immediately brought it to my attention. I had to make sure that the vehicle my 3 year old daughter was riding in everyday was safe and you have done that for me. I come from a very small town and was used to taking my vehicle to our local mechanic, who met everyone with a smile and just took care of things at a great price. I can say that after living in San Antonio for 11 years, I have that hometown feeling again and will continue taking my vehicles to your shop. Don?t know how else to say it but to say, THANK YOU from myself and my 3 year old!\r\n\r\nSee ya soon!\r\n\r\n

Please do not take your vehicle! Martin the Manager/Owner is very rude. Screamed on the phone to my husband and hung up on him. Took in my vehicle and paid almost $700 dollars and vehicle is not running. BBB is currently investigating. Yeah they can do simple things but can not do complicated mechanic work. Please learn from our very expensive experience and take your vehicle somewhere else.

I recently brought my car to Bring Your Own parts to have my alternator put. Not only did they install the part very quickly, within the same afternoon, even though they were slammed, but pointed out other issues I was having with my car. They fixed everything that needed to be done and then some within a day. They are very fair, honest people and their prices are awesome, no gimmicks very straightforward. I will be taking my car here for any future problems I come across...
