Mindfulness Centered Psychotherapy

★★★★★
I work with individuals, teens, couples and groups. Some of my specialties include Trauma, Anxiety, Addictions, Depression and Shame. I also specialize in relationship issues, attachment issues, chronic illness, sexual identity/orientation, family dysfunction, career issues and self-empowerment issues. It's challenging to list all of the areas that I have experience with in this format, so if the issue you are facing is not listed, please contact me and I will let you know. Working with the issues listed above, therapy can help you increase your confidence in your authentic self. Some of the theories and tools I draw from include Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness practices, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Hakomi Mindfulness-Based Experiential Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR Therapy to name a few. I have found that although theories are useful tools for working with clients, rather than trying to make a person fit into a theory; my priority is understanding what you, as an individual, bring into our sessions.

.

Ivan comes across as a 'regular person', not as a cold, impersonal, 'one size fits all' therapist like some of the others I've tried.

He's a good listener and guide, who I feel is able to understand and respect me as an individual.

His compassion helps to put me at ease and open up so that I can just be myself and talk freely.

Message from Mindfulness Centered Psychotherapy

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I will collaborate with you to address what is most important to you, with respect, compassion and awareness. Rather than just talking about problems, I can help you connect with the issues viscerally as a way that helps you gain greater insight into your feelings, thoughts and interactions as they develop in our work. My style is direct, interactive, respectful, and collaborative.

Together, we use mindfulness to help increase your awareness of present moment experience without judgment or effort. In this state you can notice a deeper level of the beliefs that influence how you show up in the world. By working with experience we can access deeper parts of the brain where experiences are stored.
