I bought a refurbished laptop from Laptops Express in January. After a couple of months it developed problems with freezing up and finally crashed. Could get nothing but a black screen with a message that something was missing and to reboot. I went back to Laptops Express and the owner said I needed to reinstall Windows and he would do it for $80. I thought that was a ripoff for a computer that I had bought from them in good faith so I installed Windows myself.

Good install but the driver for the wireless card wasn't there, so I couldn't use wifi. I brought it back to Laptops Express and the owner said he would fix it for $40. I didn't have much choice because I needed it fixed so I left it there. He said it would be ready the next day. It took him 4 days to fix it and when I showed up to pick it up he said that he had to charge me extra because of the time he spent on it. I told him that we had agreed on $40 and that was in writing and thats all I was going to pay. I pull out $40 and put it on the counter.

The owner then grabbed my wallet and refused to give it back. I pointed out that he had just committed felony theft but he is a foreigner and didn't seem to care. As much as I wanted to take physical action I didn't because I didn't want to go to jail too. I should have called the police but I just wanted to get it over with and take my laptop with me because I feared that if I left it there he would damage it, so ended up paying him the extra money.
