.

The owner responded to an ad I placed. I listed the items needing repair. We exchanged emails. I made it clear I was a woman. His emailed responses were fast. His website had me a bit concerned but it seemed as though he could do the work. His price was acceptable (per hour).

When he arrived on time, my partner joined us. I can only wonder if that was the issue because dealing with me one on one was fine until he arrived.

I also knew what the easiest work would be and that was his focus (as well as talking over me and looking into the woods - he spotted a possible owl hole in a tree next door - that's rude and beyond). I know what needs to be done and I know how but was willing to compromise but the compromise would've had me overseeing the more difficult work. His suggestions/responses showed he didn't understand what he said wouldn't work. For example, corner fascia needs to be replaced. Wayne said, "I can patch it but it wouldn't last long." He made it clear in person he didn't want to do work near the roof (he could've said it through email but didn't). Yet, he's willing to go almost to the roof and patch the fascia that HE said wouldn't "last long."

His suggestions about patching other things near the roof would not work. I explained why and he ignored me.

He came off as rude and not competent to do the harder work correctly. I finally gave him a way to leave our property and he took it. I was tired of seeing him look over us, through us, and had enough of him.
