We've dined at many Ruth's Chris restaurants across the country and always had excellent food and service. It was just one of those restaurants we thought we could always depend on. This location is the only one where the service was indifferent and the steak was luke warm. A Ruth's Chris Steak is supposed to come out sizzling hot! It's one of their trademarks. The drink they mixed was completly wrong, so they took it away with no apology. We'll never waste our money there again. In fact, it left such bad taste in our mouth, we will think twice before going to any of their restaurants.

Pros: nice atmosphere

Cons: slow service, food was not up to Ruth's Chris standards

Our company recently hosted a dinner for 20 clients and staff at Ruth's Chris on West End Ave and it was a great success! The food was wonderful as was the service. I hadn't realized they had private rooms and was very pleased with the arrangements. It was a great experience for all and really helped us smooze our clients! The prices were reaonable and I understand they will currently work with you regarding budget needs. Would highly recommend for company events and even social dinners!

Pros: Complimentary valet parking, service was excellent, best steak I've ever had

Ruth's Chris is by far the best steak money can buy in Nashville! I really don't think anything compares to it. Serving sizes are very generous and delicious. You cannot go wrong with anyghing on the menue. My advice is get the ""cowboy"" ribeye and something to drink, no need for anything else, it's huge. If you like your steak rare you won't be let down, the middle is still cool when they serve it. I would try to eat it quickly though as the steak is serving on boiling better on a 500 degree plate and it will cook it a little. It's fairly pricey, most the time it costs me about $130 for 2 people. If you are looking for the best steak in town check it out in west end and don't be fooled by people telling yout to try the Stockyard.....it does not compare although it has a unique setting.

My husband and I returned to Ruth's Chris after almost a year recently. It was just as delicious as I remember! The lobster bisque and seafood gumbo were out of this world. I got the filet with crab stuffed lobster..and it was divine. The filet was cooked medium and almost melted in my mouth. The crab stuffed lobster on the side was also fantastic. \r\nI highly recommend Ruth's Chris, although it is pricey. Everything is a la carte, and it's not cheap. It is a special occasion must!\r\nMy husband and I have both been to Fleming's a few times as well as Stoney River and Mortons. We feel Fleming's is also very good, but Stoney River could not possibly compare to Ruth's Chris. \r\nThe downside to Ruth's Chris is the parking - there is none. You have to valet or park at a meter somewhere on West End. The seat we were given was also direclty in front of the swinging doors of the kitchen so it was very noisy and people were constantly walking by. Although I thought this was not a bad thing because we would always have our glasses full, alas, my husband ran out of water halfway through his steak and had to stop someone to ask to refill it (a real downer at such a nice place with that many staff).\r\n

Pros: Steak is hands down, the best in Nashville

Cons: Parking....or lack thereof

So yummy and great service, the best steak and service in town. Great for special events and just a Friday night. The wait staff really is the great.

In response to Tennessee Phil's comments: I am a regular diner at Ruth's Chris. It is better than ever! Obviously the previous diner does not really dine there as often as he claims because Ruth Fertel passed away about 5 years ago now. He would have noticed food quality change 4 years ago if he had dined there often. They changed from Franchise to Corportate 2 years ago and I have seen an improvement for sure! Also, how can you change your opinion on one steak. Animals are unpredictable in quality from time to time, they are not all clones. If you didn't like your steak, tell them, they will get you another one right away. Don't keep it to yourself and then complain about it later. Also, they DO still have the head of lettuce, its now called ""the wedge"". It is iceberg lettuce. Of all the places in Nashville, Ruth's Chris has the best service staff in town, bar none!!! They are not only professional, but have great personalities...no robots here! I agree with TN Phil on one respect...it can be cold in here. Go there for yourself and see who has it right.

Pros: Great Food. Great Service. Nice ambience

Cons: Cold inside from time to time

When Ruth was alive and running the chain, my family and I used to dine at this restaurant about once a month. It was expensive, but the food was good. However, our last visit which was after Ruth died was terrible. I ordered a filet mignon which was of poor quality; I ended up with a pile of fat and gristle on my plate when I was finished. I used to order their head of lettuce salad, but that had been removed from the menu and replaced by a dainty salad of field greens. The dining room was so cold that everyone in my family ended up putting our coats on. The service was slow, and the server was indifferent. We have not been back.

We ate here for a business dinner. My husband loves steak and has had better steaks at Longhorns he said. (and he aint no country boy either..) I had chicken and it was just ok. The salad was gross, I dont like weeds in my salad. and the basil lemon salad dressing tasted like mayonaise. We spent $260 for 4 people no drinks. I left feeling sad and ripped off, wishing we had went to McDonalds and spent the weekend in Atlanta for that much money!! I probably would reccommend to a friend to save their money..

My girlfriend and I decided to celebrate Valentine Day Dinner and avoid the crowds. The appetizer of crab stuffed mushrooms were AWESOME, beefsteak tomatoe salad was excellent and some of the BEST blue cheese I have ever had. We both had the filet and they were some of the best steaks we ever had. They are serving a banana cream pie that is to die for. This was the absolute best pie with a white chocolate filling that you could not believe was chocolate. The staff was extremely efficient, no rush (we were there for a little over 2 hours) and JP (our server) will be requested by name the next time we visit.

Love the house wines that they choose. Some of the sides are boring, but overall, this is a great restaurant. I would reccommend it to all. Kim, the longtime bartender is AOK

The steaks are great. The sweet potatoe casserole is wonderful. This place is a aliitle pricy, but it was well worth it. When you order your steak order it meduim. I don't normal order my that why, but their meduim well loses the flavor and it makes it really tough. Make reso's online it is so simple. One complaint, all but one of their appertizers are seafood, which for a girl that is allergic to seafood made me aliitle upset.

My wife and I ate here for a special night out (we had a someone to watch our child). Everthing was good but not great. The service was great and the atmosphere was romantic. We both had the filet with asparagus as a side. The steak was good but Stoney River and Flemings is better. The asparagus was cool and the sauce was ok. I will try this place again. It is a good place for a special occasion but not my first pick.

After going to similar restaurants such as The Palm, Flemmings, Stoney River...I have found Ruths Chris to be far and away the best steak and the best value by far. I have never had a better meal in my life than the Ribeye that comes out on a 500 degree plate with butter simmering just beneath it. \n\nThe service is almost as good, I have had great experiences (I am a server myself) 3 out of four times. Ask for Stephanie to assure a great dining experience. \n\nFinally I have found each comparable item to be $5-7 cheaper than the likes of the Palm and Stoney River so it definitely makes my decision of where to eat all the easier.\n\n

I had heard about this restaurant on talk radio and my husband decided that on our anniversary we would make a special trip to Nashville to enjoy the weekend and eat at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. (We live 5 1/2 hours away on the upper east end of TN).\nAbsolutely NOT a disappointment. The steaks can be cut with a fork and the flavor is like nothing I have ever had before at any other steakhouse. I highly recommend the Remoulade Shrimp Salad appetizer. For desserts I wish I could tell you but I have always been so full that I haven't had the pleasure. \nI have had many friends and family that have highly enjoyed this restuarant and everyone one has and will continue to go back, no matter how far the drive.

My boyfriend and I decided on Ruth's Chris for my birthday dinner. I had heard much hype on how great the steaks were, but that it was rather expensive. In the end, the price wasn't too bad ($120 for everything), but I was slightly disappointed in the meal. Everything was good, but not great. The steak was huge, but lacked the flavor I was hoping for. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent however! Overall, I would recommend the restaurant, and would return, only if someone else were to pay for it.

Fabulous steaks, fabulous service. Consistently superb service from a very professional, but personable staff. Other comments that I have read complains about how much it is. If cost is a concern, don't go here...its expensive (go to Outback). But believe me, these are the best steaks you will ever have. As a former server, don't forget to tip 20%...they deserve it...they only make $2.13 an hour...and these are the best servers in the industry!

People who don't like this Ruth's Chris have to be too cheap to afford great food. The Service was great and the steak was fantastic. I have eaten at the Palm and Flemings but they aren't consistant. If I want to be sure of great service and a great steak I go to Ruth's Chris.

In the year I have been on contract here, I have dined all around town, I have eaten at Nick & Rudy's and the Stockyard, and many others, and I still feel Ruth's Chris's ribeye rules Supreme. I have been to Ruth's Chris perhaps 8 or 9 times and the food is consistent and the service good. Thanks for making my stay in Nashville pleasurable.

Either Nashville's Ruth Chris is extremely inconsistent or their satisfied (?) clientele must be coming off a three week Ponderosa high. Four of us ate there over the holidays, and for $600, I would guess this was one of the worst meals I have ever experienced. Not only are their appetizers (crab cake, etc.) dripping in every form of grease imaginable, I suppose they make up for their cheap cuts of meat with an extra cup of butter. For an upscale restaurant their wine list is diminutive (a euphemism) and forgettable.

I would have to say that Ruth Chris is the TOP steak place in Nashville. Being a steak lover, I have tried almost everyplace in Nashville. My rankings would be:\n1) Ruth's Chris (Setting the standard!)\n2) Stoney River (great new steak and seafood place)\n3) Outback (Best value)\n4) Flemings (Just okay...hard to believe Outback owns it)\n5) Jimmy Kellys (What happened...this once was the best place to eat a few years back)\n6) Logans (Okay value)\n7) The Palm (What a $125 disappointment....heard great things but New Years Eve was the worst steak I have ever tasted....burnt on the outside and dry on the inside)\n8) Stock-yard (Overpriced Kroger steak)\n\nI haven't tried Mortons.\n\nLet me know if you guys go to the Palm or Stock-yard and find it to be good. I cannot recommend this restaurant! We have eaten at many Ruth Chris restaurants across the United States America and Canada. The Nashville Ruth Chris stunk, just like the shrimp (Seriously the shrimp were bad). The steak was leathery and would make a good shoe sole. This is not the usual quality, but of course charges the usual prices! Management needs to shake this place up....

This might sound bitter but I would never go back to this restaurant. I went with a group of about 15 people and we were treated horribly. It almost seemed as we were a burden to the staff. To make it worse, we had a drink before dinner and the bartender short-changed me from a $50 to a $10 and refused to give me back my money. Then after dinner, she did the same thing to my friend. I told the manager and he said he would do some investigation and call me to let me know. Needless to say, i never heard from him. A ""claimed"" high-class establishment should never treat customers like this. I will NEVER go back there again and would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I had heard raves about the steaks at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. So, when looking for a place to dine before an evening at the symphony, it was my first choice. I was not disappointed. Even though my date and I arrived a bit late for our reservation, we were seated promptly. The service was excellent, the food better than I dreamed. Never have I had such a perfectly tender steak; it was still sizzling when it arrived. The atmosphere was traditional, elegant, nothing outlandish, perfectly respectable for business clients or a romantic evening. The price was high, but worth paying for the best steak of my life. You must try it at least once.

The atmosphere was traditional, elegant, nothing outlandish, perfectly respectable for business clients or a romantic evening. The price was high, but worth paying for the best steak of my life. You must try it at least once.

Pros: Amazing steak, Knowledgeable staff, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Rather pricey, Snobby clientele

.

I had the worst restaurant experience of my life with no apologies from this staff. The food, service and experience were extremely poor. I celebrated my 30th birthday here only to go home sick, wet and tired. I had to wait over 1 hour for a reservation. Therefore, forcing me in the overcrowded lounge which was standing room only. I ended up on the terrace and attempted to sit down but the table and chair were sopping wet. Making my entire backside wet! Once I finally got a table, I had to wait another hour for my food, that only made me sick with there deep friend butter steaks. This staff was less than apologetic! I want my $160.00 back! Everything about it was lame. I am telling as many people as I can. STAY AWAY!!!!!

If you want a great steak and you go anywhere else you're wasting your time and money. The steaks come out sizzling on hot plates making the dinner a total sensory experience. They also serve a cowboy ribeye that is huge and awesome. The staff is friendly and extremely attentive providing the best service I've had.

Had reservations and still had to wait 30 minutes to get a table. Food took forever to get. I knew I was going to pay more but come on, at least give me what I pay for. If you want a great steak go to Prime Cut on 2nd Ave. They know how to do it right.

My girlfriend and I just ate at Ruth's and it was marvelous! I have never eaten a better steak in my life. The large portions more than filled me up and the flavor that poured from everything that was served to us more than made up for the bill. Yes it is expensive, but if you're going to go somewhere nice you might as well go all the way. Poor service? I don't think so. For a while I thought I was the King of England. Don't listen to the reviews that say how bad it was. The authors of those are nuts. This place is GREAT!

I've eaten at Ruth's Chris all over the States, and have not been disappointed yet. The steaks are always cooked the way I ask for them, and always melt in the mouth. The seared tuna is to die for, as is the bread pudding for desert. An extensive wine list and great Scotch selection tops off the menu. For a chain restaurant its pretty classy, and a cut above places like Outback and Lonestar. Expect to pay $90 - $100 for two for the full meal - you might be able to get out for less, but its not easy.

Pros: Great food, Extensive wine list, A la carte

Cons: Fairly pricey

In terms of food quality, Ruth's Chris is step above most places, but beyond that, the food is EXTREMELY basic, boring, and over-priced. Everything is ala carte and that's exactly the way you feel at meal's end. Hmmm I had steak + potatoes + cheese. Instead of a symphony of flavors you'd get at Park Cafe, Zola, or Bound'ry, you get a collection of solo players that do little to complement each other. Skip it.
