Our approach is both holistic and evidence based. We treat the whole person, identifying the root cause of your issue from the beginning. We understand that the foot and ankle can cause hip and back pain or vice versa. Each aspect of your musculoskeletal system is interconnected and can have an impact on how you are moving and feeling. We also work closely with many other healthcare professionals in order to make sure you are getting exactly what you need. Precision Performance & Physical Therapy is a clinic that specializes in the treatment of runners, triathletes, sports and orthopedic injuries. We are all athletes and know what it is like to be injured and unable to train or compete. However you don't have to be an athlete to be treated we also treat many of our athlete's family member and people who don't get better anywhere else. Our therapists are on the cutting edge of physical therapy. We are the only clinic in Atlanta in which all of our therapists have gone through a rigorous, post doctorate orthopedic residency. We treat every patient one on one and each session is individualized based on what you need. We offer both physical therapy and performance assessments. See below for some of the services we offer: Running Assessment If you are a runner or triathletes we will incorporate a running assessment into your physical therapy. We will review your running history, previous injuries and obstacles to running, as well as your future running goals. Assess your running shoes to determine if you are in the correct shoe. If you need a change, we can direct you to the best running shoe stores in the city. Educate you and answer your running questions. If we don't know the answer, we'll connect you with someone who does. Watch you move! We will take you through a series of functional movements to determine where you may have tightness, weakness or impaired motor control that could be affecting your running. Then we will perform a video gait analysis of your running form, either on a treadmill or outside. You will receive immediate visual and verbal feedback about how to improve your form. Pilates based & functional exercise Faulty movement patterns and mechanics can lead to persistent pain and inury. At Precision, we use the Selective Functional Movement Assessment and gait analysis (for runners and triathletes) to assess how your body moves and where your kinetic chain may be breaking down. In addition our pilates-based exercise integrates the trunk, the pelvic and shoulder girdle and the lower and upper extremities while emphasizing proper breathing and alignment. It allows patients and clients to use their entire kinetic chain while working on specific areas of dysfunction or impairment. Research has demonstrated improvement in lower back pain, dynamic balance and strength with the use of Pilates-based exercise. Manual Therapy Manual therapy is a hands-on technique that includes manipulation and mobilization of soft tissue, nerves and joints. It is used by the physical therapist to diagnose and treat structural impairments, pain and inflammation. Benefits of manual therapy include improvement to range of motion, tissue repair, extensibility and function. Patients also tend to see both pain reduction and movement facilitation. New literature has found that patients who receive manual therapy in conjunction with other treatments have significantly better outcomes.
