Reviews for Arclight Movie Theater

Ratings_icons I WOULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS

Tiya B.

Save your money and go to a cheaper theatre. The customer service needs work and they have policies that just make people mad. I literally bought a ticket for a movie and then went to the ticket taker and he told me I was too late to see the movie. So why sell me the tickets in the first place!? Went to customer service and they refused to give me my money back. We got vouchers but my friend lives too far to use them and I wouldn't go back if you paid me. I understand trying to make their theatre unique but don't sell extremely overpriced tickets and make policies that just piss people off.

Ratings_icons Still our favorite movie venue, but...

Claudia V. | insider Insider | Rank: 24,964

Despite some real issues, this is still our favorite venue to view movies. Good state-of-the-art theaters and comfortable seating. And what's not to say about the landmark Cinerama Dome. Still a great place to watch the big blockbusters! There is nothing good to report about the parking structure. Bring whatever leftover movie snacks you have because you could spend considerable time trying to exit the parking structure on a busy night. My friend loves their caramel corn, but on many a busy Saturday night they have run out. And I mean by 7pm peak time!I used to have a big problem with their on-line ticketing system especially during peak weekend periods. System was extremely slow or would grind to a halt. One time my credit card was charged twice for tixs I never was successfully able to purchase online. It took weeks to straighten this out, Despite the fact that the charges showed up on my credit card acct, I was told by ArcLight's customer service rep that I had to call my credit card bank to request a refund because their system never recorded the purchase. I'm happy to report that since the opening of their new complex in Sherman Oaks, the online ticketing system has improved.

Ratings_icons Early Movies Lack Air VConditioning

dave n.

So if it's warm out --never go to early showings as the theatres are hot as.....

Repeatedly mentioned problem to the staff and was told they don't turn on air in advance of early showings so it only starts with first movie.

For eleven bucks you'd think they could turm the air on in advance to create an appropriate comfort level.

Ratings_icons Horrible!!!!

garrett t.

We booked our tickets online but they were not waiting for us when we arrived. The staff could not find them and were slow to reticket us. We missed the movie, had to buy a second set of tickets and were not reimbursed for the first set of tickets for weeks. Other patrons complained of similar problems. Go to the new Landmark Theater instead. It has the same upscale intentions but actually delivers.

I'm a movie buff and go to the movies often.Very nice theatre, good screen sizes, they have a bar! A bit pricey but worth every penny. Top notch theater.

Ratings_icons This is the Place to see a movie

Crystal M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,905

This theater is one of the few where you can see films that are limited release. They often have big movie themes in the lobby and a really good restaurant. The seats are roomy and allow you to stretch out. You will pay a little more but this is the only way to see a movie.

Ratings_icons The best movie theatre EVER

Tee T. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,647

I am a movie buff and go to the movies often. I first went this movie theatre for a movie that was not playing in many places. There is a restaurant (a REAL one) that you can eat in before or after seeing your movie. You can actually pick where you want to sit when you buy your tickets. The seats are noticably bigger and more comfortable than any other theatre I've ever been to (and I've been to a lot)

When I tell you that their popcorn is the best ever, I am not kidding. It's fresh, perfectly done, with just the right amount of butter and salt.

PROS: Best movie theatre experience you can have
CONS:

Ratings_icons Classy Movie Joint

Adriana L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,725

The theater is beautiful and even though it is expensive it's nice to go to a theater everyone knows about. It's not better than any other movie theater, in terms of seats and space, but it feels classier and the place is so beautiful it's just fun to go there and see a new movie.

PROS: Clean, nice, beautiful, famous
CONS: Expensive, crowded

Ratings_icons Great experience

You cannot beat the Arclight if you're looking for the best movie experience in LA. It is the largest movie theater I've been to and every seat is an awesome "captain's chair" for utmost comfort while watching the movie. Although the restaurant attached to it is kind of sub-par. Still, HUGE theater! Great!

Ratings_icons A different movie experience

Angela R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,919

If you want to see a movie, go to a regular theater. If you want to live the movie, go to Arclight. It's a entirely different experience, that brings you back decades. The seating is reserved so no more waiting in line for movies. There aren't any previews either, (unless they are attached to the film reel). I love how they introduce the movie. Go see a movie there as fast as you can.

Ratings_icons OVERRATED!!

Christy G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,243

This place is overrated. I've gone three times and had a problem every single time. They pride themselves on sound quality and every time I've dealt with issues with their sound. The most compelling time was when I went to see Lord of the Rings opening day and the sound was aweful. They offered free passes (if you asked for them), but I wanted my money back. I had to fight hard to get my money back. I did not want to come back to this place. I understand problems happen once or twice, but every time is ridiculous. Their mangement needs to be improved and their customer service needs to be revamped. I went to an AMC theatre once and they had a sound problem. When we exited the theater, managers were standing at the door with free passes and apologizing. Now that is how you handle a mistake!

Ratings_icons A Great Movie Experience

Maritza D. | insider Insider | Rank: 27,392

The Archlight Hollywood is a fantastic theatre. The price is higher than other theaters, but it's worth it! You get to chose where you want to sit so you don't have to hunt and fight for a seat. They also don't show any of those annoying commercials that all the other theaters show. The seats are really comfortable and wide aisles, so people won't step on your feet.

Ratings_icons would have given 2 star but felt the peer pressure

Vonessa M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,720

The Arclight prides itself on being very attentive to details so when the sound completely became distorted during THE RETURN OF THE KING one would assume the problem would have been rectified immediately. It was NEVER fixed. The incident left a bad impression and I haven't been back since. Still, I give it three stars because I have heard a lot of word-of-mouth raving about the theater.

PROS: near Amoeba Records
CONS: ruined Lord of the Rings for me.

Ratings_icons Best Cinema in LA

Andrew W. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,337

The ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood is by far the best movie theatre complex in all of Los Angeles. The ArcLight has all reserved seating, so you don't have to worry about getting there early to get a good seat. They have top of the line sound and picture components making their theatres the best in town. They also have a full service restaurant, which serves good food. Also, there is a gift shop in the lobby. You get all of this for only about a dollar more thant other movie theatres around. I highly reccommend going to the ArcLight. The extra buck is definitely worth it.

PROS: Reserved seating, digital sound & picture
CONS: Pricey

Ratings_icons Nice theatre

j h. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,117

In the regular theatre, chairs are nice and spaced out so you can see the movie well. The attendents are helpful and there's a lounge area you can wait in until your movie starts. Only thing an issue is the ticket price -- you pay for the additional ammenities, but not much more than normal LA prices.

They also have an IMAX esque dome, although I havent yet gone into it. Also, leaving the parking lot after a popular movie can be a nightmare.

PROS: Ambience, sound, picture
CONS: price, parking

Ratings_icons VERY comfortable theater

Best movie theater in LA. Comfortable seats that are spread far apart so you have plenty of leg room. Getting to choose where you want to sit and getting assigned seats is a big plus. Tickets cost a little more here but are worth the price.

Ratings_icons Awesome movie theatre

This is a really great movie theater in the heart of Hollywood. The snack bar is upsacle and offers things such as caramel corn and other treats. All of the movies are all reserved seating and you are escorted to your seat. The movie going experience seems extra special here and it is a nice treat. The tickets are quite a bit more expensive than a regular movie theater but for the experience and ambience you get here I think it is really worth it. The parking is close by and they validate when you see a movie there.

Best sound/screen in Los Angeles. After 2 years of construction, it finally reopened as the 15 Screen state of the art complex called The Arclight. Best Screen, Projector, Mega Seats, Lots of Rooms, Bar/Restaurant, Reserved Seating & Free Parking....before you run out there, it comes at a price ! $14/Ticket, Seems almost worth it though...

The Cinerama Dome and the surrounding theaters at the Arclight are the best places in town to see a movie. State of the art screens and reserved stadium seating make the Arclight the destination on a weekend night to see a film. Plus the restaurant and bar in the lobby are both a great place to meet before or after the movie to grab a bite to eat or a cocktail.

Nothing like seeing a movie premiere at the Arclight's cineramadome.

And they have special showings where you can bring drinks from the bar into the movie.

In addition to the deep and abiding respect this theater has for movies, in addition to their apparent lack of connections to major chains and in addition to the fact they have a KICK-ASS gift shop (I swear!), it's got awesomely cool parking, it's right next to the Sunset & Vine complex and it's right next to Ameoba music (the coolness just rubs off on you). They've got displays about the films being featured, special events ALL the time, often featuring the filmmakers themselves. Tickets are hellaeasy to buy online, at kiosks outside and inside. The staff is always superfriendly--think Wal-Mart greeter...but COOL. The ArcLight is simply fantastic--it's one of the best places in the WORLD to see movies.

The Arclight movie theater houses the Cinerama Dome. They recently rennovated and they have done a great job of updaing the sound and picture so it's a great place to catch an event movie. The drawback of the Cinerama Dome theater (as opposed to the rest of the theaters in the Arclight multiplex) is that it has the very curved screen designed for the Cinerama projectors designed in the late 50's. So if you are sitting on the sides, the image gets rather distorted, but this is where you take advantageof the reserved seating and make sure you buy seats towards the center of the theater.

Alright, someone else who cares about bleeping cellphones and rude customers. They will give you 100 percent customer satisfaction. No bad projection, it's controlled by a competent staff. The only one other than Sherman Oaks Galleria which has met my satisfaction. They introduce the show and make you feel like you're being treated with class. There's a resturaunt there to eat before a show! Famous amoeba music record store is outside across the street to check out if you want any chill time afterwards.

You definitely feel like a starlet when you enter this movie theatre. The lobby is set up to simulate a train station or airport terminal. It is a huge theatre where you can see all the latest flicks. They also have a lot of the film festivals that showcase their films as well. It is also pricey but definitely worth the experience.

The Arclight is the ultimate moviegoing experience. The tickets are a little more than your average theater, but worth every single extra penny. Make sure you experience a big action movie in the theater called "The Dome". The theater's gift shop and restaurants are also top quality and worth checking-out. Locatedd in a great area to eat and shop before/after the movie.
