It is clean and just right for the price. There are not too many places that offer a small boutique type of spa experience in Los Angeles like brooks does. Now it is not Esalon or Two Bunch Palms by any stretch but what does one expect from a 1200 suqare foot place like brooks.

The staff is great and the Foam Beds are very comfortable.

I was referred to Brooks by my boss when I mentioned some recurring back pain I was having. I was in a car accident many years ago but still suffer from pain. So, I decided to give Brooks a try. My first impressions were not so great, it's not on the "high end" of spas (not the newest or hippest..) But what they lack in style they more than make up for in substance! They have a sauna, steam room (a bit small,) and shower facilities & of course, the massage therapists. The prices are unbelivably reasonable and M-F (10am-3pm half hour massages are $10 off!!) How cool is that? And full hour massages are discounted by $15 (for women only though.) The massage therapists are among the best you will find (and especially for what massages cost these days!) My therapist was just wonderful and took the time to find out why I was there & what problems I was having. It was THE best massage I have EVER had, my back felt amazing afterwards (and even days later.) I would recommend Brooks to anyone looking for pain relief or just to de-stress. I, for one, will make be making regular visits because my back & I have never felt so good! (Bliss Special here I come!)

The spa was cozy and everyone was polite. I was 15 minutes late and they were very nice to give me time to relax and not count that against my appt. time.

At Brooks Massage Therapy, you are treated to strong, attentive masseurs, as well as unlimited time in the quiet steam room and sauna, with Eucalpytus aromas. It's the best way to de-stress after a long work week!

I have to say first off that Brooks has the most gifted massage therapists on the planet working here. I have been going to this establishment since I was 18 and am now 30 and I have never been dissapointed. All of the employees and therapists are extremely humble and wait on you hand and foot. The best thing about Brooks is that it's not some place you go to expecting glitz and glam but rather a great massage with a great atmosphere and best of all you get what you pay for. I would highly reccomend Brooks to anyone

A girlfriend of mine had recommended this place to me one time and since I live so close I thought I would give it a try.

Parking I would say is the only con that I had, they told me I could either try and find street parking or that I could park at a meter and they would fill it while I was there(since it's only an hour). I didn't want to chance anyone forgetting to feed the meter and get me a ticket, so I decided on street parking. Now, fyi, street parking is pretty difficult to find in this area, but I managed to find quite a few spots a block north on Curson.

To look at this place you wouldn't think such skilled and wonderful therapists would work here. The lobby(ish) area is really shabby, the decor is confused with itself and there are definitely no bells and whistles,
BUT by the end of your session, the shabbiness becomes almost charming...like a tacky mom and pop restaurant with the best fish and chips.

I arrived earlier than my appointment like the receptionist had recommended in order to use the steam and sauna rooms. Felt soooooo nice to warm up my muscles and relax.

Now for the massage! I had James as my therapist and WOW!! does he know what he is doing!! The pressure was perfect, not too light, but also not trying to break me either and he knew exactly where i needed the most work and he worked my knots right out. Very professional and wonderful. I felt like it was almost possible to float home after wards. :)

Seriously, no joke...BEST massage of my life!!

Brooks is amazing, I had walked past this place and didn't think much of it from the outside but as I went inside to see what this place was all about the front desk receptionist was very friendly and gave me great information along with a tour. As I have been there now a few times each and every time the visit was very enjoyable, if I ever need anything the staff is very helpful and the massages I've had there are always AWSOME! Another thing that impressed me was the steam room, private resting rooms, and sauna with eucalyptus which was great. Also the fact that you don't have to stress out about parking, they take care of it for you whether it's at a meter or with the valet guys. All in all the place is clean, simple and the therapists are the best!

I have had several good deep tissue massages at Brook's. I cannot complain at all. However, I do not care for the shower/spa area especially since it doesn't seem private when the host/hostess gives a tour to new users. I highly recommend getting a massage here because they have some of the best massage therapists working here and they also have great rates when you compare them to Burke Williams, etc. Just shower before you arrive.

I read many of the reviews before going here. It was better than I expected in regard to the amenities. Don't expect Burke Williams, but it's nice that it's more than just a massage... they do have a dry sauna, a steam room, etc.

When I walked in, I got a tour. I was shown to my room. This part is quite nice, actually. You get your own little room to lie down, put your stuff, etc. Then you're called out when the therapist is ready and you move into a treatment room.

This is where my disappointment began.

I was expecting a big, burly Russian man, who was going to knead my knots away, per the reviews. That's not what I got. I got a small-framed, gentle man, who didn't ask me what I wanted, but assumed I wanted to focus on my neck, shoulders and back. I said, "definitely... these are the areas I want to focus on." The massage begins and I'm getting a nice, relaxing skin massage. I'm wondering when the kneading will begin. He tells me to let him know if I would like it firmer. I said, "definitely on the upper back and shoulders." He says, "yes, we'll get to that..." The entire hour goes by and my knots were not worked on. My upper back and shoulders were caressed for a bit, but that's it.

In hindsight, I guess I wasn't clear about what I wanted, though I thought I was and felt a bit dismissed when I mentioned it during the treatment.

I basically had a one-night stand with no O. It was nice, but I didn't get what I came for.

as many other reviewers state, you just can't beat brooks on price and quality of services. i want to add that i've been going for the past several years and always leave feeling terrific. will is the absolute best: intuitive, strong and very thorough, and uses a variety of techniques. i always book an hour with will and even that seems insufficient, he is that good. for a superb deep tissue sports massage, yuri and andre can't be beat. the facilities are small but clean and quite frankly, i like brooks much better than burke williams and the fancier places because i like getting massages regularly and frequently. brooks delivers on consistency and value. i highly recommend.

I've gone to a few massage places around town, and to a few spas. Granted that Brooks isn't as modern and clean as places like Raya, the masseurs here are tops, (especially is you like deep tissue). Also, they don't swindle you for the last ten minutes of a massage as I've noticed many spas now give 50 minute massages for around $100 bucks. If you get to Brooks before 1:30PM M-F, you can grab a great two hour massage for about $135 bucks!

The "Spa" section isn't quite up to par, but if you're not picky, you can get a sauna and steam while you're there. The point is, you'll get more for your money and leave just as relaxed, if not MORE, than other more pricey places. I'd also like to add that the staff is very friendly and welcoming. One warning: Don't dump the eucalyptus oil onto the stones in the sauna! I thought it was water, but learned quickly that it was oil! I felt like a total dork when the receptionist asked me, "did it catch on fire?!"

First of all, if you are looking for a relaxing spa experience--this is NOT the place to go...I would compare it to fast food of the restaurant industry with a hospital design. I say this because when I entered, I had totally different expectations. They put you in dressing rooms that look like a cold hospital room to change--the color of the walls is a morbid green. Then there is one little bathroom, a VERY small steam room and sauna. When I went upstairs for the massage, the room looked like a dirty table, old towels, and really similar to a hospital setting. The therapist was so aggressive and when I told him to please be a little more gentle he said maybe this is not the massage I was looking for--of course I didn't come to be in pain for an hour!! I am usually not one to complain, but this really was a frustrating experience. When I told the girl in the front about my experience, she said well if you don't want to leave a tip, just don't--that was not my point. If you want a fast, cheap massage, that makes you feel like you are in a cold green hospital setting, this is the place to go. If not, there are so many great spas and places to get massages in los angeles, that I would never go here again.

My friend and I used to take advantage of their discount: 30 minutes for $30. What a bargain! The masseuse really knew what she was doing. You can stay in their steam room and sauna for as long as you want. The place isn't very large or fancy but it really hits the spot!

I like really deep tissue massages and Yury is definitely the man for the job. The first time I ever went, I could barely turn my neck because I was in such pain. As Yury was kneading my upper back, I asked, "Are those knots you're going over?" And in the thickest Russian accent, he answered, "Yes! But I will destroy them!" From that moment on, I was sold. He has never failed me.

Here's where to find that little piece of bliss to tuck away in your day- from the moment the receptionist ushers you in towards your private suite, you're feeling absolutely taken care of. There's an amazing vibe throughout the place- mellow and relaxed and calm. THEN you have the massage, and if you like someone taking ALL of the stress out of EVERYTHING, this is the place for you. As a dancer, I suffered a pulled groin last summer, and it took all of an hour for Peter to shiatsu me on my way to recovery, and I have to say that no one else had been able to help me with the pain. But he certainly was, and it was incredible. A couple more things to consider- how lovely and warm and welcoming the staff is, the sauna and steam room and shower made available to you, and the personal suite you have to just relax if you want. Another plus? You have the most amazing and lovely and fantastic experience- and it's still affordable!! I would highly recommend Brooks as THE number one spot in LA for a massage, no question about it. When you walk away, not only is your body nourished and rejuvenated, but so is your spirit.

this spa has the best feeling about it the minute you walk in. it is unpretentious, clean, and friendly. and the therapists are the best anywhere. i have been to the big fancy spas in beverly hills and los angeles and i prefer this one over all the rest. i wish i could go every week!! i love getting my own private little room that makes me feel like i am worlds away from the big city. i always look forward to spending an afternoon there!

This place not only offers really effective massages at reasonable prices-- they also are prepared for everyone. I forgot my shampoo-- no problem because they provide that...and soap and deodorant and on and on! I don't know how they supply all this without tacking on extra charges, but I dare not ask. It's so rare in this city to get something you don't expect. By the way, my massage was with Margarita and she is amazing.

All I have to say is thanks for opening my eyes Yuri. Ive had at least 15 or so masages at different places in L.A. and I enjoyed them all. But Yuri is THE MAN!!! No joke! Imagine a little russian guy with a sweatband and fingers like smooth stones. As he's starting the massage he asks me... "So you want torture massage, deep tissue massage, medium, or svweedish?" I told him somewere in the middle and man. He delivered! He destroyed the knotts in my back but i'm pretty sure I fell asleep for a while as well. All I remember is him telling me the hour was over and then I mannaged to make it to the shower some how.
It was like somebody took a backpack full of bricks off of me. I see why this place has been around so long.
I usually go to places a little more inexpensive but I see now that you get what you pay for.

Having grown up in LA, I can't believe I've gone this long without finding this place. It's small, simple, clean, and no-frills, but who needs frills when the massages are perfect. Simon is a life-saver. The steam room is also a really nice touch.

Excellent staff, Excellent treatment from the moment you walk through the door. starting with Carolanne (the receptionist) who is outstanding at her job. She offers a warm welcome and can even recommend which treatment is best for your condition. This is the best L.A.has to offer considering the price, staff, and family atmosphere..It rates 4 stars A+...

My wife and I came to Los Angeles with our daughter to visit potential schools, by the time we landed and spent 3 days driving around this fast paced city we were beat. My wife asked around and was told to go to citysearch to find a spa nearby, we settled on brooks because of how long they had been in business and because of how centralized they were (to us at least).Long story short, they were great on the phone, they were so hospitable in person and the massage was "REAL" my wife had a male therapist and she said she had never felt more comfertable in a massage before. My daughters favorite part was how a young lady would make her rounds to make sure the steam and sauna smelled nice and to bring you water. we are glad to have discovered this home away from home spa.

Pros: located close to everything, clean, real massage and real people

Cons: can hear little noise (loud engines sound faint in massage room), they dont have a location in my home town.

I often fly between NY and LA and I swear this place is the only thing that keeps me sane. The therapists are really intuitive and can often tell you where you're hurting just by looking at you! It's amazing how they ease the tension in my neck and back. Every time I call for an appointment, I feel like their awesome staff goes out of their way to accomodate me. I wish they had a branch in NY!

I stumbled across the Brooks Massage profile on myspace and they sounded like a really cool staff. I had booked a half hour appointment but it was so good i had him extend it to an hour and a half! Luckily, they had room for me on such short notice. I thought I knew all of this city's gems, but I guess this one had gotten by me. Now I'm making up for lost time. Jacob was really awesome working out my back pain and the steam room was so relaxing.

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING BY BROOKS ON MY WAY TO CBS FOR YEARS AND YET IT WASN'T TILL RECENTLY THAT I DISCOVERED THEM. I LOVED THEIR LAID-BACK FEEL, AND REASONABLE PRICES. I LOVE THE SEPARATE FACILITIES FOR MEN AND WOMEN WHEN YOU STEAM AND SAUNA. AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE ONLY HAD ONE THERAPIST, IT ROCKED, I GIVE CREDIT TO THE DESK PEOPLE FOR ASKING ME QUESTIONS TO GET THE RIGHT PERSON WITH THE RIGHT SPECIALTY. I WILL BRING MY MOM NEXT, SHE DESERVES SOME PERSONALIZED ATTENTION.

Brooks, hands down, has the best massage staff in town. I have tried various practitioners and have never been disappointed. The eucalyptus steam is great and the sauna is toasty hot. No jacuzzi to soak in, that's one draw back, but a minor one. And I wish the price were $10 lower, but again, the massage is always great, so it's worth it.

Walked by one Sunday morning and thought about how I needed a massage. Called within the hour and they took me-no problem. Had a GREAT deep tissue massage. Price was right and free parking available at Post Office across the street. Can't wait to go back!

I usually get thai massages for much less but I was given a gift certificate to Brooks Massage and figured why not try it out. The therapist I had at Brooks BLUE MY MIND. She was so experienced I felt like it took her no effort at all to just crush the knots in my back. Its so hard to find a decent deep tissue but this place has got it. Ill be back.

I have spent thousands of dollars on massages, and when I went to Brooks they exceeded all my expectations. The best service in town, and they genuinely care about you.

They will do whatever it takes to make your stay enjoyable. I spend a lot of money on massages, and this place is my new home.

My daughter decided to buy me a massage while we were on vacation. i was worried because i had never had one before. but it was just like she said it would be. the therapists were very nice and professional (excuse my english) the people at the front desk were young but very polite and made me feel like family. they all made sure i had enough water and towels and were very quick to let me know that i had all the time in the world to relax with my daughter because there was no time limit for sauna and wet steam. i want to thank my daughter and also say thank you to Brooks and his family for making my visit with my daughter an even more beautiful one than it already was. GRACIAS DE TODO CORAZON!

These therapists are no joke. Ive been to Brooks a few times now and though there are cheaper places to go when i really need to get fixed the little bit of extra money is well worth it! Not to mention the free steam and sauna with your massage really helps you relax. A must try.

Brooks was awesome from the moment i steped into it's cozy lobby. the sweetest little thing (Yanni, i believe was her name) was there to greet me and even offered to put quarters in my meter. My massage was just what i needed, the real deal (thank you, Andre). i loved the private room, the sauna was the hottest thing i ever steped into, and after 15 min in the steam i felt as if i had just had a super expense facial, but without some lady picking at my face. im a student, with not alot of money, yet they are affordable without compramising there concern about being clean. No new make-up, new nails or hair style can compare to how good i felt after going to Brooks.

I've been telling everyone I know about how I now know how people sacrifice themselves in firey pits to the Gods! After having my massage by Sergay, I was ready to give myself to whomever and whatever. I was so damn good. I live in Portland, Or., and my trip to LA was my first. It wasn't my wonderful room, or the nice restaurants or even the shopping I did that was what I will hold on to, it was my massage. Sergay, you are my God! Thank you. I cannot wait to get back to LA just to have another massage. Not only the massage, but the reciption and the ammenities too made this experience. Thanks guys. ish.

this was the greatest place for me. i was able to unwind and relax in their new re-slated sauna and loved getting the feeling of a facial while sitting in the steam room. the staff is so warm and real with everyone it makes you feel as if you were in your home. my massage was more than perfect this was exactly what they advertise, a no frills real down to earth massage. im happy my friends recommended brooks to me.

The massage was awesome though there were several neck adjustments that I didn't expect. I never had a better massage! The staff is also very personable and laid-back.
The amenities are sparse but do the job. the bathroom in back is so small that the door clips the toilet bowl when the door is opened or closed.
Also, I'm told that in the summertime it gets very hot. Central air-conditioning might help that.

They may look spiffier after last week's renovation, but Brooks already has all of the crucial elements: sauna, steam room, and powerhouse masseuses. It's small and not posh, but open late, reasonably priced, and oh so satisfying. Oxana really knew her stuff, worked hard & in detail to release my tense muscles. I'll definitely go back.

All i wanted was to get away from L.A. and i found a place to do so. Brook's has the best massages and the staff is welcoming, nuturing, and real. and the best part of it all is all the time i get to sauna and steam. i learned they are in the midst of remodeling for the next 50 years and i cant wait. oh and Will, Andre, and sergey (just to name a few) are just out of this world.

A good massage usually helps me to sleep more fitfully and wake up more relaxed the following day. Brooks had me feeling completely at peace for two days afterwards. So the massage is excellent. The steamroom is very small and cramped however (and when the door slides open, all the heat seems to completely escape). There was only one shower and it was not impeccably clean... And bringing your own shampoo might be a good idea. The sauna was as big as my cubicle at work. But who cares right? It's all about the massage and THAT was AWESOME. So if you are really particular about your spa environment and have the money and time to go elsewhere, you might as well do so. Otherwise, Brooks absolutely can't be beat.
