Penny Lane Music & Video

This store has closed and moved to a larger location at 1661 East Colorado Boulevard across from Pasadena City College (626-535-0949). With a renewed focus on vinyl, the new store has a wider selection, convenient parking and even offers used iPods. We invite you to visit and review the new location as well as "Penny Lane Video," also in Pasadena at 569 South Lake Avenue.

It is just too awesome to be strolling along lovely Colorado Boulevard at night, along with half the town it seems, and pop in to a used cd store with groovy posters and funky postcards and remeber back when you were in college and lived in stores like this. You can get tremendous deals and relive your late teens all at once!!!

Penny Lane is basically a used CD store, but it has a lot that seperates itself from other stores of this kind. They have a great selection of other music related items such as posters and shirts and postcards. They don't have the biggest selection of music, but it is a fun place to stop into just to see all the other items they have in stock.
PROS: fun selection of posters
CONS: CD selection is lacking

This is a hip little music store located right in the heart of Old Town Pasadena. They have a pretty big vinyl and vintage poster collection, which is awesome, but they are a bit lacking in the compact disc section. One of my favorite parts about Penny Lane though, is their POSTCARD selection! You can get some really hysterical stuff there and who wouldn't like to get something funny in the mail?

I've come here once on a tour of Old Town Pasadena. I was impressed by the old fashion style music store. This store is actually pretty small but it is wall to wall music. The staff is slightly pretentious but kind when it came down to it. I was able to listen to some tunes before purchasing anything and I appreciated that. The prices seemed comparable to the bigger music stores and I prefer supporting the smaller chains. Nice place to browse.

I really like shoping the bargain DVD section of this store. The South Lake store is a little better than the Colorado location but they are both great. The novelty cards are a total blast to look through. I've never gone into this store without buying something.

We go to the one on South Lake (near California). Parking is tough. We've found some great used DVDs here, including a couple of great Myazaki (Japanese animation) flicks, before Disney started distributing them. As well as a couple Disney does not have. Hit and miss on the staff, though some are very knowledgable. Note: Some of the movies they show, at very high decibels, are borderline for young kids. Which is why my kids love to go there (please don't change, Penny Lane!)

A small but througho record shop. Great for buying used CD's. I have never tried to sell any CD's here so I am unsure if they buy used CD's. This is a great shop to browse through while down in Old Town - and clearly the best small CD shop in Pasadena. There is alot of cool stuff in this store - so take a look and around and dont hurry.

I love this store. If you are a lover of music like me, you'll enjoy and appreciate this tiny gem. Some nice selections of music that may be hard to find elsewhere and the ability to listen to music before you purchase. Always knowledgable staff andthey are willing to order anything that isn't in stock. Great location as well and always able to find something different and fresh.

Very cute, small and trendy record store in a perfect location. This store offers a nice variety of indie music and a chance to hear some of the selections before purchasing. Unfortunately the store is small and that shows in the overall selection of music. A nice stroll in and out will do the trick and you'll be pleasantly suprised if you find something you like.

Way cheaper than blockbuster and with a far better selection of DVDs. I really enjoy renting here, although Netflix has kind of put a damper on that.
