Tangles

Kathy is awesome. My highlights look great- she is really a pro. Everyone who works there is sweet and helpful. Atmosphere is relaxed and cool, unlike some salons. Kind of expensive, but not overboard- comparable with what high quality salons charge. You want to see expensive? Try the Westside for a cut and color!

I go home happy with great looking hair. Kathy really listens to me and gives great advise on how to use my various products.

So, I've been to Tangles a few times off and on over the past 6 years. The first time I went I had the most amazing hairdresser: I was thrilled with the color & cut.

Six months ago, I called Tangles to make an appointment: my regular girl wasn't there so they gave me someone else. It's a professional establishment, I thought. They can handle a head of hair as simple as mine (it's just long and thick and layered, how hard is that?!) Foolishly, I made the appointment before a wedding.

I went in asking for short layers to frame my face in the front and to keep the length long: to cut as little as possible (keeping with the LONG HAIR theme.) I came out of there with damp hair, 1 inch bangs in the front (that didn't even work with my cowlick/part) and hair that was chopped from the middle of my lower back to the top of my shoulder-blades. AND, she THINNED my hair with shears: most people WANT thick hair and use product for it. I HAVE thick hair and she sheared it THEN tried to sell me texture product. WFT?!

I was devastated and have spent the last six months growing out my haircut: i've actually JUST gotten to the haircut I originally asked for. In the meantime, I could tell it was a horrible haircut because there are all these spare hairs that just go against the grain of the style: that's the sign of a hairdresser who REALLY doesn't know what they're doing.

I had a haircut from Chris at Tangles back in August 2004. It has been almost 8 months, my hair still looks great. That's when I know I have a good haircut -- when your cut lasts for a long time. Price is reasonable as well. I have been searching for a hairstylist for a long time and I think I just found a keeper!

After deciding to take the leap and switch to a salon closer to where I live, I was not disappointed. I decided to go with Ruth and she did a great job on my highlights. I only fully realized how much I liked it the next day when I was able to see it in good light (when I came out, it was dark). It took a while, but I appreciated the fact that she stayed late to accomodate me. She also included a complimentary deep condition which is always good after color. All in all, typical price for Los Angeles/ Pasadena, but she did a great job. I haven't had a cut there yet, but I'll definitely go back and try it out.

I decided to try Tangles because of its proximity to my place of work. I was very happy with my haircut and have made this my place.

Ruth takes care of my hair and lets me know what she thinks I should do with it.

Prices are reasonable and I've never had a problem getting an appointment.

I pity the fool who doesn't try Tangles! (sorry for stealing your line Mr. T)

Tangles is good for guys with shorter hair too. David, the owner, is a top notch stylist and a great guy. Plus, if you like talking sports, sit in David's chair.

A lot of my girlfriends raved about this place so much, that I had to go see what all the fuss was about. And it's true, Tangles is a great salon. They have a great staff that really knows their stuff. They take the time to make sure you get exactly the result you're looking for. They can run a bit pricey, but if you need a good solid haircut to get you back into fashion, check this place out. Parking can be a pain, but nothing a few quarters won't fix.

This is an excellent salon with a convenient location. There is a 90-minute-free parking structure right beside it. They do a great job with hair. Plus, the place is small and clean (not loud and busy). Definitely recommend it (not sure about facials and all that, though, haven't tried it yet).

Excellent salon - Lyn Nakamura is my personal favorite. Very relaxing, professional atmosphere. Lyn is very methodical / a perfectionist, so if you're in a hurry - you need to tell her in advance - otherwise, sit back and prepare to be pampered!

I went here twice to get highlights done and I was very happy with them. The place has a fun atmosphere and lots of stylists. I had Laura M. do my highlights both times I was there and they looked REALLY good! They tend to be on the pricey side and you have to pay for parking but it's right in Old Town so you can do shopping or have dinner while you are there too. The money is worth it though to know that they are doing a good job.

I have been going here for over 2 years and love it.
