This is my families favorite place to see a movie. They love the fanciness of the theater and sometimes have enjoyed the experience of being there rather than the movie itself. Occasionally El Capitan will host a special Disney screening in 3D, which is very cool for the kids indeed. If money is no object there are rental capabilities and you can have yuor birthday party here!! Parking is hard, but is worth it. And when your done in the theater there is plenty to do elsewhere in the surrounding Hollywood area.
PROS: Elegant, fun experience, unique surroundings
CONS: Parking

I enjoy going here annually to see Nightmare Before Christmas. They send an annual invitation so that I am sure not to miss out. Many people dress as characters from the movie and it is always a fun group of people. The tickets are a little more than you pay for a regular theater but it is worth it for the experience.

This movie theater showcases new Disney movies but they usually have some kind of event associated with it. Events can range from having a movie and then meeting the characters by people in costumes.
Prices are not too expensive either, considering what you're getting and paying for. It's a good night out, especially if you have children.

As a single parent of a 7 year old, I am always on the lookout for something I can take him to that won't rot his brain. And since he ALWAYS has to see the new Dsney movie the weekend it comes out, this was a good find for me. I guess Disney bought the theatre and you can do a VIP ticket buy which includes the ticket, choice seats, early admission and your refreshments.
The prices are actually more than a regular theatre, but if it make your child happy, then it's worth it. And the theatre has been redone, so it's a pleasurable (and VERY comfortable)experience. After (or before) the movie, you can go to some other places in the area and make a whole day of it without going too many places.
PROS:
CONS: Cost more than other theatres

This beautifully restored theater mixes a live show with a movie. The cost is a little high, but the experiences is one-of-a-kind. Bring your kids and let them dress up like their favorite characters!

The El Capitan Theattre is the best place, hands down, to see a Walt Disney Pictures film. Both the sound and picture are use state-of-the-art digital components. The seats have very thick padding, which make watching even a bad film comfortable. Also, there are usually exhibits about the film that provide insight and a lot of interesting facts aout the film's production.
PROS: Great Experience
CONS: Pricey

I have gone the the El Capitan many times. When kids movies open up there (usually before regular theaters) they have the building next door that they set up for fun and games. When Toy Story was there, they had the guards in there with their feet together like in the movie, arcades, activities and more, and it is all included in the price of the movie which is under $20 a person. The food is extra though. Get there a little early because the parking lot is behind the theater and it fills up fast. Weither youn or old, it is a great experience. It is across from the Kodak Theater where they hold the Academy Awards and other awards shows and concerts.
PROS: You can spend 4 hours there easiy and your kids will love it!!!

I have been here so many times for the opennings of movies. It is so much more comfy then regular theaters. When a new show opens there they have an entire set up next door which includes games, a play, food and all kinds of activities and it all is in the mode of what the movie was.. I still enjoy going there with my friends and we can have more fun now I think then when we were younger. I think my favorite movie there with the activities was The Toy Story.
PROS: You can spend hours there and have fun - walking distance to the subway

This theatre is so gorgeous, I am never sure whether I am going to a film or a first-rate live theatre production. The lobby area is just magnificient, with the owners maintaining artifacts from the glory days of Hollywood. The wood is brilliantly polished, the ceilings are several stories high, and the lighting is gorgeous. You will want to give yourself plenty if time to enjoy the theatre itself. Of course, the film are presented with pride, on a huge screen. It is presented to a large audience, with a balcony option. The staff wear old-fashioned uniforms. That, with the walk of Stars ust outside the theatre, makes you feel like you are "going to the show" back in the 30's. Wonderful!

The El Capitan is the flagship theater for Disney so they show only Disney releases but the main reason to see a movie at this theater instead of your local multiplex is that, for special showings, they have a live show before the movie which is usuallyvery entertaining (which is why the tickets cost more). Also the theater is beautiful, it usually has memorabillia from the movie on display, it has top notch sound and projection, and it has a balcony!
