Haute Cubano Cuisine

by Andrew S. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 741

Just had lunch at Xiomara and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the mojitos. I had the spicy duck ropa vieja which was excellent (not that spicy but I think Cubans are known for being spicier than their food). The dishes ordered by my friends seemed pretty good to and all had a nice presentation. Everyone at the table agreed the mojitos were the "Velvet Hammer", delicious, smooth and potentially deadly. I haven't been there for happy hour but it seems like it would have a good bar scene. It was relatively empty for lunch. The prices are what I would call low upscale. You can get away with lunch for $15-$20 (including a mojito) but you could spend $30 too.

Best Mojitos this side of Miami

by CaesarTheDay _. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,129

I really like this restaurant. More for mojitos than for food, but the latter isn't bad - only slightly on the pricey side.
Mojitos at Xiomara are the BOMB! They are made using authentic sugar-cane syrup and they don't skmp on mint or rum. Worth the $10.
Food is excellent, but like I mentioned pricey. Their most memorable menu item is however the chocolate souffle. Heavenly but rich and you'll be working this one out at the gym for days.

Satisfactory, but probably won't go back.

by Brian H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,383

Food was pretty good, but the prices didn't seem to match the value; they seemed a little too high. The mojitos are indeed good but again, too expensive. I went on a Thursday when there was nobody else there and the service was a little on the slow side, but acceptable.

Euro-Cuban with excellent appetizers and deserts. The buttery bread and black bean dip are outstanding. Unfortunately, although the entrees were good, they were not as exciting as the other courses.

Be sure to try their Mojitos, and if you like hearty food their pork stew is very filling.
