Melrose Diner

I have eaten at The Melrose for several years, and have yet to find even a comparable eatery. I worked at the Sun-Times 24 years and ate at this place most of those years! I find no fault here, and the prices are as they should be... right on.
Once you have eaten here, you will return over and over again. The soup is by far the best in the city!!!

although i never ate at melrose diner anytime other than breakfast, i think it's great that there is a diner in the neighborhood that is open 24 hours a day. melrose is located on a very busy corner in lakeview. the restaurant offers sidewalk tables, which can be a lively treat as you watch passersby walk about their day!

The Melrose is an okay place if it's late at night and you're druink or you're older and you don't want to cook. That's their clientele. Personally, I'd rather IHOP. Both times I've been here the food has been served cold. They have typical food for overnight places: burgers, fish, pasta, breakfast foods. The only thing I really like about Melrose is the way they make their oatmeal.

Melrose is the best 24-hour diner in Chicago, and, in my opinion, the whole country. The food is good, not the typical over-greasy fare you get at some places. Sunday brunches are crowded but it's worth it for the waffles or pancakes. Gay friendly and straight friendly.
