5 Stars: Weird, but cool (by Brandon K.)

They really do have a little bit of everything here. It's a typical Berkeley hippy/new-age styled establishment but it's presented in a very clean, efficient, and professional way.

They also have all sorts of herbal remedies which sometimes are a good alternative to Western medicine

Tip: Use their video rental store! They have a pretty decent selection and it's only a $1.00 a day! The one problem with this is that since it's a tiny little annex, they are often out of the good stuff.

4 Stars: I love their $1 DVD rentals! (by Jay D.)

They have one dollar DVD rentals, where you can rent a DVD for only a dollar and you can keep it for one day. This is great if you just want to watch a movie and quickly return it the next day. Their selection is not that great, but you should be able to find the movie you want, especially if it's not too obscure.

Otherwise, their prices aren't that great, although they do offer a lot of products.

PROS: One dollar DVD rentals
CONS: Prices aren't that competitive

4 Stars: Natural goods, at a price (by Camille P.)

Billed as "a pharmacy that prescribes yoga," the Elephant caters to that particular hybrid endemic to the Bay Area: yuppie-hippies. Or maybe they're just rich hippies. It's a great store, full of natural health and beauty products (as well as typical pharmacy standards), but it's kind of expensive, even on items found elsewhere in town. However, it can be a lot of fun just to browse. They also have a smaller foods section and cheap DVD rental. Check their schedule to see when they have sales or special classes.

PROS: Parking lot, wide selection
CONS: Expensive

5 Stars: (by Mary P.)

This is one of my favorite stores anywhere. It's not just a pharmacy; it's a mini-department store with food (including produce, mostly organic), wine, gifts, cosmetics, books, and a whole lot of other interesting stuff. The pharmacy specializes in herbs and alternative remedies, but you can find all the name-brand OTC drugs there, too. There is a meeting room where they host free seminars and classes almost every night. They also offer video rentals (with a decent selection) for $1 a day! This is a very cool store, worth checking out regardless of whether you need to go to a pharmacy.
