The cushy retro surroundings, balcony and tiered seats, and mood lighting make for a nicely romantic setting. Plus, it has a huge screen. Great for watching epics like 300. Customer service at the snack counter is also excellent. Shows

If you're going to pay to see a movie on a big screen, then this is the key location to go. The Cinerama is a classic local for Seattle film buffs. Seeing an action packed movie on this screen makes all the difference. It was perfect for Star Wars. The condiments are good, parking is accessible, and the prices are competitive. It's a fun date location too and it feels like a piece of Seattle film history.

There is no better place in Seattle to catch a movie! This place has a huge screen and it draws big crowds to every big opening. Tickets usually sell out for the opening days in advance and the line winds around the block. If you dont mind the crowd, it is so much fun to sit with so many people so excited to see the movie. My only complaint is parking. There is one pay lot behind the theater, but if you dont get there early you will have to park somewhere else.

The best theater in town and another Seattle landmark, it's known for its "cinerama" screen, which basically means it's larger than the competition's and slightly curved, designed for the 70mm films popular in the 50's and 60's. Refurbished to modern standards in the 1990's by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, it's in peak form today and is the place to see an event film like the latest :Star Wars" spectacular.

There's a reason why you'll see huge lines of people outside of the Cinerama whenever they get a new movie: they're the best place to see them. Its the most original and comfortable atmosphere of any theater in Seattle by far, and also has the best video and sound quality in my opinion. Great place to take a date or go with buddies to see the newest action flick.

The Cinerama movie theater in downtown Seattle is the only place to see block buster action movies. I've seen The Matrix II, X-Men II and Star Wars Episode III at the Cinerama.

It's owned by local ex-Microsoft billionare Paul Allen. He purchased the Cinerama a few years ago and completely remodeled it. The atmosphere is fun. It has a really cool ceiling that looks like the night sky when the lights go down. Seats are comfortable. And being the tech guru that Paul A. is, of course this theater has all the latest technology. The sound is incredible.

Price is the same as other theaters. Location is fairly easy to reach. Parking is an issue. Especially if you chose to attend a matinee. Very popular so give yourself enough just in case there's a line to get it. Recommend using their advance purchase service offered through the Cinerama website: www.cinerama.com

PROS: Big Screen, Awesome Sound, Fun Atmosphere
CONS: No Parking, Popular (Long Lines)

this theatre only show one film at a time for there is only one screen. but for someone like myself, it is just soooo inviting because it makes me curious on the special film that it will be showing. so far, each time i have went, there have always been action film that needs an extreme large screen which the cinerama provides. the theatre is just huge, that it can seat tons and tons of movie watchers. like when i watched "star wars 3", you can actually feel the action because the screen is just soooo huge.

I don't like paying a lot for movies, but when they are movies with really great special effects, I might as well pay the ten dollars to go see it on a huge 4 story screen. It feels like being at the IMAX--pretty cool.

Remember when a movie theatre had memories associated with it? When it was a place that had a special personal significance? Cinerama, Paul Allen's lovingly restored theatre is that kind of place. Every time I see a movie there I remember the great movies I've seen and the friends I've seen them with.

PROS: great sound, not a bad seat in the house
CONS: long lines for opening night!

I remember a time before paul allen restored this amazing, historic theater. with it's extra extra wide screen and cinemascoping it is truly the only place to see a big action thriller or a fast pace action movie.

The exceptionally large screen and state-of-the-art projection and sound make this the place to see CGI- and/or visually-intense blockbusters IF you can put up with highly uncomfortable, cramped seats arrayed in an antique non-stadium

The Cinerama is the best place to see a movie in the City. Definitely go there for those big blockbuster movies: I saw two of the Lord of the Rings movies and Spiderman II there. The huge screen and great theater really add to the entire experience. The decor is great and I love the twinkly lights on the ceiling.

I love this place state of the art viewing for every great release. I would not spend my money any place else for a big movie release. There is only one place to see Star Wars Revenge of the Sith big sound big screen big seats the works. Tickets can get a little crazy but they have 12am showings for the party crowd.

I went to see a movie at the Cinerama when I was about 8 months pregnant. I will NEVER do that again. The seats might be okay to sit in if you are not pregnant but I was SOOO uncomfortable, I could hardly enjoy the movie. On the flip side, the screen is amazing. It is great to see a good action flip on such a huge screen.

Say what you want about Paul Allen, the guy buys some good stuff - like Cinerama. I didn't live here when it was in it's old hayday, but it is now THE place to go see something like The Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter, or a Star Wars movie (in fact, at this writing, there is a guy "waiting" outside there for the May Star Wars opening - in March!). The screen is HUMUNGOUS, the sound wonderful, the seats comfy (though watch out for your knees when someone sits down in front of you). Beware, everyone in Seattle knows about this place, so for an event mopvie, you'll have to get there early and wait in line.

Cinerama is one of those old movie houses that you go to on special occasions. There's only one screen, but it's always showing a fabulous film. But that's not the whole reason you go to Cinerama. Inside the architecture is just impressive in that yesteryear grandiose sort of way. The screen is so big it tosses you back to the days when going to the movies was a real event. For the same price it costs to go to the movie palaces in the middle of downtown, Cinerama is more of a comprehensive filmophile experience.

Cinerama first opened in the 60's eventually turning into a a discounted movie house in the 1980's playing 35 mm films. Slowly losing more and more money in the 90's it almost closed it's doors for good. That is until Paul Allan purchased the theater and restored to the 3 projector film format that it was meant to be. Cinerama is my favorite place to see a movie. I don't mind dropping almost $10 bucks as a do with other theaters. Between the huge screen and incredible sound it's almost as if you are in the movie!

The screen at the Cinerama is gigantic (80 or 90 ft., I forget exactly). The concession stand is yummy, and they have some off the beaten path items. It is my favorite theater in Seattle. If you are really into a movie, especially if it has special effects, it is worth it to see it here. Consider yourself lucky because it almost went out of business until Paul Allen put his money into fixing it up. Any movie you see here will be more enjoyable than if you had seen it somewhere else, because of the great screen, sound, and general movie-buff atmosphere. If a very popular movie is just released, buy your tickets in advance online so you aren't turned away at the door.

The Cinerama, located in Belltown, boasts an experience not for the faint of heart. With its huge, lone screen and amazing sound system, this is The Theater you go to when you really want to see a movie--mainly those with killer special effects and thelike. The Cinerama tends to sell out for major flicks, like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, and the rest of the time is quietly accepted as part of the Belltown community. Parking is ugly, and limited to street parking unless you're willing to pay $10 to park in a lot.
