We recently had our wedding and reception at the Sorrento Hotel. We felt it would be the perfect venue for a winter wedding - and it was. The furnishings and decor are lovely, and the views and terrace added a classy touch. However, the management of our wedding was terrible. From the beginning, they failed to communicate with us, not returning e-mails or phone calls. As our date approached, we had to literally barge our way in to see the space so we could get measurements for our florist because the management was unresponsive to our requests. We were not given a tasting until mere weeks before the wedding, and the food was not exceptional. We also faced what appeared to be either dishonesty or utter incompetence. There was a surprise fee for the "toast" that we had to fight about, we were double-billed for rooms guests pre-paid for through the internet, and guests were told they had to pay for parking even though we had pre-arranged for their valet parking. The management also told us our wedding decorations would be kept in a particular place and when it was time to decorate, they weren't where the hotel said they'd be! Our family spent 30 frantic minutes trying to find someone from the hotel to help locate the decorations; they were genuinely worried the wedding would start late because of it. Additionally, a family member had to go back into the kitchen to insure they saved our anniversary cake layer because the servers appeared uncertain when asked what they planned to do with it. Surprise, surprise; the next morning it was not in the refrigerator where he had watched them place it! It appeared that the hotel never would have remembered it nor found it again. They only looked for it after we put up yet another fight - and it took them at least 15 minutes to find it! The management also did not help us in any way with decorating or even directing the wedding procession. In short, they did absolutely nothing and the management of our wedding was deplorable. (We would add, however, that the concierge and front desk service was very good.) We would not recommend the Sorrento Hotel as a wedding venue.

I love the Sorrento Hotel. It is fun to be down in Seattle and stay at this old hotel. It is beautifully remodeled and has a great atmosphere. Parking is a bit pricey.

This property made me think of European hotels. The rooms were not of a size I would expect for the price paid. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and there are fine linens. Bathrooms are small. I found the service spotty, rather than exceptional. I would not stay here again, or recommend it instead of other great hotels in Seattle where you pay much less.

This is a cute but also historic hotel in Seattle. The rates here are pretty expensive and go over $200 a day. The staff here are wonderful. The room we stayed in was somewhat small but comfortable. We also had a great view of downtown. Overall, this is a great hotel.

I am hosting my wedding here in December. I have been planning for about a year and it has been a great experience. I have been to the hotel on several occasions. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is always friendly (everyone from the valet to the front desk to the waitstaff in the bar), and the hotel itself is gorgeous. It is not in the heart of downtown (as far as walking distance from most sights) but the hotel provides complimentary towncar service for all guests. As far as special events are concerned they have taken great care of us. The Top of the Town and Penthouse Suite (where my wedding will be held) has a beautiful view of the skyline. The coordinator has gone above and beyond to make sure my event is just what I imagined it would be. I am truly pleased and would recommend the hotel to anyone!

If you've never been to this Seattle gem, you are missing out on our of Seattle's historic hotels. Walking into the lobby is breathtaking. From the fountain out front to the rooms, you are in for a real treat when you stay here. Great service, friendly staff and worth every penny. Even if you just stop by for cocktails in the bar, you'll remember your visit to the Sorrento. Check it out during Christmas, they do up the lobby and bar so well that I make it a tradition to go every year now.
PROS: One of a kind!
CONS: A little pricey

If you got the money, and you want to spend a special weekend, or maybe it's your anniversary I recommend The Sorrento. My fiance took us here for a weekend getaway. We had towncar service, breakfast in bed, and we stayed in just about the coolest looking room I'd ever been in. Okay, so it's a bit pricy, but when you stay at The Sorrento you definitely get what you pay for. We'll be back, same time, next year.

To me, the Sorrento is pure elegance. It's an old hotel located in Seattle's First Hill area with so much class. Really, Seattle is not all that old of a city and cultural landmarks like this aren't so easy to come across. The restaurant at the hotel is also very good, and maintains a normal local clientele in addition to the tourists who stay at the hotel. Try the smoked salmon eggs benedict!

This is one of Seattle's oldest and finest hotels! The prices are very high, but it really is very nice for a special occasion. Honeymooons, weddings, Valentine's Day, or special anniversaries would be perfect. It is really beautifully and tastefully decorated. The rooms are a little small, but great. The sheets are 400 thread count, so it is one of the best night sleeps I've ever had! If you can't afford to stay here, consider a night in the bar with dinner or appetizers and drinks. They also serve English-style high tea from 3-5pm and I've been dying to try that. Everything is done with the customer in mind. They will take care of you in this historic urban retreat.
