There are only a few places that I would describe as one of the most breathtaking moments I have ever experienced and captured on film and this is certainly one of them. (If you know me then you know that I love animals and you never ever see me without a camera.)I could sit there all day every day for the rest of my life. I have made calendars for myself of the beautiful scenery and maybe one o f these days I'll put a link up so you can see them!

Besides being a great portrait for a photographer it's also very family friendly -a fun time combined with a little history - a great combination for a wonderful day!

They have a visitor's center which I always like to stop in before we do anything. It helps educate the kids on this breathtaking place which hopefully it will help them enjoy it more. My husband and I like to bird watch so this is a great place to bring your binoculars and bird books. We have discovered so many birds we had no idea lived in the area. The kids enjoy hiking so we like the 2 mile tours but there is plenty to do for everyone here!

Of course this will be added to the Sara D's approve list but it's getting another star from me because you are allowed to bring your dogs! Sure only to certain areas but why leave your best friend at home right?!! I was in keywest once and dogs were allowed almost everywhere even in the bars so I am glad to see that more places are becoming dog friendlier!
All in all we had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back!

The Cabrillo National Museum is a great place to go to get a view of the whole of San Deigo. The views are breathtaking. The Point Loma lighthouse was beautifully restored and furnished allowing for a glimpse of how the keepers of the lighthouse lived their solitary lives. They also have displays on how Point Loma functioned during war time.

PROS: Breathtaking views
CONS: none

The Cabrillo National Monument provides one of the best views of most of the city. The highest point in this park is the setting of an old lighthouse that gives you a fun, historical trip back in time. Many local schools take a field trip to this place, especially during whale migration season. Its a beautiful place to visit, well kept, breathtaking scenery, and really just a beautiful place to spend the day or a couple of hours. Its a great place to go for a hike, but make sure you have on the right kind of shoes (dont try it in heels). There are also places that you can bike around this gorgeous place. Visit on a clear day for one of the best views of the city. The light house even allows you to go up inside of it. The best part about this area, is the tide pools in the area. Just remember not to take anything from the tide pools so that people who visit the Cabrillo National Monument in the future will be able to enjoy them too. There is plenty of room for children to run around and play, and its a great place for a family picnic on a lazy summer afternoon.

This is another wonderful spot to visit when in San Diego. You can see the old lighthouse, and climb through it. You can have a picnic overlooking the Pacific Ocean. You can play in the tidepools. It's a wonderul location to visit!

Get a great view here of almost the entire city. From this tip of Point Loma, on one side there is beatiful scenic ocean. On the other side, see downtown San Diego, the bay, and even Coronado bridge. A good place to take friends or family who are visiting, also a good spot for tourists who want a view. Or even if you just like to take photographs, great photo spot. Also visit the lighthouse.
