Lovely park

by Joyce L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,478

Balboa Park is a charming menagerie of museums, historical buildings, and other attractions (e.g. the San Diego Zoo) set amidst tons of greenscape and gardens. It's a lovely place where you can pretty much do anything, from ballroom dancing at the War Memorial to sampling cuisines from all over the world at the International Cottages.

Best Park in the city!

by Mary L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,869

I love to go to Balboa Park for picnics. It is a great place for long walks, the buildings around are all well kept and look almost new. I have spent several summers here with my kids and grand kids. It is a grat addition to San Diego. If you haven't been here, then you are missing out. There is a fun time to be had by all.

Great on a summer day

by K. Y. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,014

Beautiful and great on a summer day. Nice way to enjoy the sunshine while visitng the museum's exhibits, the scrumptious Prado Restaraunt (where people actually get married!) and the Ruben Fleet Science Center. A lot of things to do for the family or for couples/friends. Food is not cheap there so either come with a picnic basket or be prepared to shell out the dough for hot dogs, sandwhiches or whatever you may want. The greenhouse was very interesting as well and the lily pond outside is just great. Wonderful photo ops.

by Kim B. | insider Insider | Rank: 16,163

This is a fun park for the whole family. They have history tied into the park. They also "put on a show" a Christmas. We always have so much fun when we aree there. They have playgrounds for the little ones too.

Gorgeous

by Ginger S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,038

This little area of San Diego makes you feel like you're not in a city at all! It has so many things to do and see you feel like you must be at some far away exotic vacation spot! Museums, and rose gardens, and organ music, and musicians on the sidewalk, and artist, and jugglers, and just about anything you can think of! Great place to return to over and over. A photographers dream!

A MUST SEE

by Alana T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,641

If you are a resident of San Diego or just visiting Balboa Park is definately a place you should check out. It's really good for families with small children. There is so much to do and look at. And with San Diego's weather you don't mind wandering around outside. There are a ton of awesome museums, the zoo, flower gardens, places for picnics...it's got something for everyone. You really need to spend a few days to get it all in. And if you want to save check out the website and see when they offer specials; certain times of the month you may be able to get in free or for a really great discount, it's worth the research!!! Parking isn't bad.

Great Park

by Karrie F. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,316

Balboa Park has so many attractions and fun activities that will keep you coming back. Enjoy the open grassy areas for picnics, sports, and other recreational activities. Great place to go on a run or read book. Also, don't forget to journey into the heart of the park where the plethora of things to do is neverending. Museums, theatres, restaurants, and even the zoo. If your a tourist, leave lots of time in your agenda for the park. It could take days to see everything.

Balboa Park

by Josh B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,646

Balboa Park is an incredible city getaway, only minutes from downtown yet it offers a huge park that is great for strolls, shopping and museum going. Perhaps the most interesting feature is the aerospace museum, that houses many different attractions on it's own. Balboa park is great for running, excercise, and many other activities, too!

world class museums and attractions

by Brian M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,031

There are so many interesting places to visit at Balboa Park. Besides the sprawling grass hills, frisbee golf course, and rose gardens, there are also a ton of great museums. The Rueben H. Fleet space Center is probably the most entertaining attraction. I also enjoy the museum of man and the aerospace museum. Overall, Balboa Park is a great place to visit. The big fountain is also fun to watch

Beautiful.

by Peter L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 531

If you want to see San Diego at it's finest, go here. Not only are the buildings well designed, everything from the floral patterns to even the little pond is beautifully aranged. At Balboa park you can visit a bunch of the big musems including the Ruben H Fleet Center, my personal favorite. It is also a great place to take kids as well.
