It's funny that I don't go to the Gaslamp much unless I have out of town company- but we always have a great time there.
It's a change from the beach- lots of great little restaurants & shops.
There are also fun places (like Croce's) to hear live music.

The Gaslamp District of San Diego offers all kinds of little shops, eateries and music. A wonderful way to experience the old area and people watch. There is a vibrant nightlife but shops do tend to close early.

This was an amazing experience. I used to go here a lot on the weekends to hang out with some friends and have a fun time, and boy, that was quite a party. The variety of restaurants, bars, and entertainment are numerous and plentiful everywhere you go. This is truly one of the staples of San Diego downtown life and everyone should try it (not exactly a family thing though).

This place is awesome if you love coming downtown. They have great stores and an awesome atmosphere. Also it is just awesome coming to downtown San Diego. It can be crowded on weekends and the parking can be expensive. I still come here all the time with my friends, but mostly on dates with my girlfriend because of the great entertainment and restaurants.

The gaslamp quarter has grown to be the hot spot for San Diego nightlife. They have nice attractiions such as hazard center, Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory, and Fumar, a hookah bar. There are also many nice restaurants and not to mention Petco Park. It is easilly accesible via the trolley.

Review of the area (during Street Scene)

I went to the Gaslamp last year via the trolley system and it was pretty cool. The trolley brings you right up the area. This area better represents what Downtown life should be like. You can roam the streets and enter small novelty stores or even grab a bite at a little diner. During Street Scene however, it was more crowded than P Diddy's wallet. It was hard to walk any where but the good part is everything is not the far apart from each other.
A very awesome place to go.

The Gaslamp can get busy at night and parking can be difficult to find, but it is definitely worth it.
Park your car at one of the structures and then meander around with a friend or two for a little shopping, maybe dinner, a drink at a bar, or a dessert at Ghiradeli's. The two story Border's is a great place to buy new books, and you can always take a walk down to the waterfront and check out Urban Trees.
Don't forget to check out the Modern Art Museum and to catch a trolley ride.
