I was picking up my sister's baby shower cake over an hour prior to the event because pick-up was mentioned as 9AM. After 15 minutes of searching for the file, they note no pick-up time on faxed paperwork and claim cake will be delayed until 1:30pm, when the event is at 12pm. I was MCing the event and told all employees I had to be there...they made me wait until 12:10pm to speak to the supervisor at Beverly Hills, even though supervisor claims she called in to the show room to speak to me. Showroom supervisor failed to let me know of this call and only got me on the phone with supervisor once I demanded to speak to her. I requested free delivery because I had to leave and they told me they were short on delivery trucks, so they could not.
Mr. Hansen apparently offered to refund the cake, but this meant we would be left with no cake! Baby shower with no cake? Absurd! No offer to refund portion of the cake or give coupons for future purchase.
I was treated like a piece of meat at their showroom..many other disgruntled customers waiting for their cakes. One other man was still waiting for his cake after I left the showroom 1 1/2 hours later. I can't believe I missed the first part of my sister's first baby shower that I was MCing because my issue was not attended to promptly and properly.
The Beverly Hills supervisor was calming and nice, but I felt nothing was done to alleviate the situation. Most companies would offer a discount or make a true effort to deliver for free.
Hansen's Cakes has an ego problem. They have made good-tasting cakes, so they ride off of that factor...however, the POOR customer service is not worth the value, in my opinion. That $400 dollars could have been taken elsewhere...and next time it will.
ALSO, last May, Hansen's sent me a cake with the wrong colors. I had asked for pale green (celadon) and peach/pink accents as it was in the picture, and I received a cake with KELLY GREEN and NEON ORANGE flowers. So unbelievably tacky, but I chose not to make a fuss of it at the time. This time, I won't budge on being treated so poorly!
