Kaiser is a HMO Hospital w/emergency room, opthomology and every other specialezed field that there is. They even have birthing rooms in some of their facilities. What you have to do is find an internist that you like, even if you have to go thru 20 of them. Once you have a regular Doctor, they get to know you and will work with you. You won't have to go over things with them that they have been treating you for. You work the HMO and it is great. They are so big, I have seen them grow since I became a member in 1955 (I was a baby). It is not cheap, I pay $447 a month and $25 when I see a Doctor, $5-10 for tests, discounted prescriptions, $100 for emergency room care and after after clinic hours which is after midnight. You cannot be without hospitilzation...... If there is something that you need to have done and they do not provide the service, they pay for you to go outside of Kaiser which most people do not know.
PROS: It is a good piece of mind knowing they are always there for me. Dr. Yu Fon Lee is a great Orthopedic Dr.
CONS: Costs went from $319 a month to $447.
