Camp Happy Day is one of the best places your child will ever miss!!! It is educational, fun, and athletic. Both of my children have attended thru the years. My ADHD son moved 2 grade levels in reading during the 7 week program and improved his math significantly. It "WOWED" his teachers at the local Catholic School. They had pretty much given up. Amazingly, the Camp Instructors made it so much fun that he really did not view it as learning or school.....it was fun!!!! It was the best investment of time for my children that I have ever made. Every activity has an underlying purpose for learning and becoming an independant civic minded youth. My son has since passed 8th grade and moved on with memories he truly cherishes while my 4th grade daughter is so looking forward to the coming summer with Camp Happy Day! It is the only place I know that truly educates children while having them climb trees, swim, do archery, hold an Olympic Event, go caving, be "Citizen of the Day", visit with the Mayor, add a variety of other wonderful field trips, and top it off with an Award Ceremony that builds the self confidence and self esteem of every "little person" that enters its doors.

Have I given you the idea that I am high on "Mitch" Hanneken and her hand picked group of dedicated professionals.....YOU BETCHA!!!

I went there as a kid from the age of 5-12. I think it was the best summer experience I have ever had. I am still in touch 30 years later with the friends I made there. When I had a child my dream was for her to be able to go there and have the same experience. Unfortunately, it did not work out that way.

I will have memories I will always cherrish!

My 7 years old goes to Happy Day Camp for two years already and he was at their pre school program for 3 years before the summer camp. The summer camp at Happy Day is great for working parents. They have two programs: summer school and science camp. If you want your child to continue with academic studies, you can enroll him/her in the summer school. They do regularly classes (math, English, etc.) in the morning, then the kids can have swimming after lunch since the school has their own heated swimming pool on site. You can also sign your kid up for swimming lesson which only cost $85 for 10 half hour session (5 kids a class). My 7 years old has learned his swimming at Happy Day. And the science camp is more flexible, if you only want your kid in a summer camp for two weeks, or even one, you can sign up for this. Every week, they have a theme related to science. And every week, they have a field trip. When my son did the first week of science camp this year, they went to IMAX for Skeleton because they were learning human bodies. They also offer dance, cooking, math, reading, drama, Chinese language classes for the summer camp.
I highly recommend Happy Day summer camp! The phone number is 626 282 2919 and there is no propaganda at summer camp or the school as far as I know. My 4 years old has attened the preschool for two years there already and he is still there until he goes to elementary school and will join his older brother for summer camp at Happy Day next year!

I was sent to Happy Day Camp when I was a kid during the Summer. I think its a great place to send your kids for working parents who do not want to have an available child care program during the day. I remember that in the summer, I would take summer school until noon and after lunch, would be day camp, which is basically play time. I remember engaging in arts and crafts activities, day trips to amusement parks, and swimming everyday.

PROS: Affordable, great place for the summer for kids
