Apollo Park is getting run down...

by Raymond R.

years ago when they 1st opened apollo park , i used to come out from north edwards with my parents and go fishing . look at the space capsole..... and enjoy a day of fun..... not so today..... i was out at apollo park when they had the last trout fishing derby.... the 1st weekend of november...madness at its best.. the limit for trout is 5.. and i was watching people take 10,12,15 and even 1 man had 20 trout on 1 stringer..... and no game warden to be found... no wonder us weekend fishermen are driving past apollo to go to places like lake isabella or up to big bear or over to little rock damn to go fishing.. at least there we know we have a better chance of catching fish.

Apollo Park isn't what it used to be...

by J N.

I used to love going to this park with my kids - it was peaceful, stocked with fish, and lots of nature. It still is a beautiful place, aesthetically, and it can be okay to visit in the early mornings. But in the last few years, more and more "ghetto" people started to come in the late afternoons - hanging out in groups and drinking alcohol, smoking weed, or causing a loud scene, cussing, throwing things at the ducks, etc. This has made many people uncomfortable near dusk, especially with low presence of rangers. I wouldn't recommend coming here in the evenings or weekends alone, especially... until something is done to monitor the park more heavily. I encourage others who have experienced the same situations to contact the city (or local authorities, when these people are present and causing a scene) and have something done to bring back safety and peace to our beloved park!

great place to walk

by Lynne G.

I LOVE this park. I walk my dogs around the park for exercise and I find it quite peaceful. There's trees for shade, and beautiful views with the ponds. The park is about a mile all the way around so it makes a good exercise routine (can keep track of how far I've walked).

by jesse m.

This is one of my favorite places to come fishing I've caught and 8bl and 10bl trout. My girls love it too because there is very nice playgrounds and a bike line around the hole park

This is a beautiful Park!

by Jessica S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,316

There is a pond with ducks to feed! The kids love feeding the ducks. There are several big open places to play, play structures to play on, and paths for bike riding. There are lots of trees to provide shade for picnics and tables and chairs if you prefer that to sitting on a blanket. This is one of my favorite places to bring the kids.
