Unimpressed

by Lauren M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 119

First I'll admit a bias- I don't like many buffets- the focus always seems to be on quantity rather than on quality. I would rather have a small portion of something delicious than heaps of substandard fare.

That said- some buffets are better than others and I don't think this one is particularly good.
I am VERY picky about freshness and Todai just isn't up to snuff.

I like Onami better

by phoebe s.

I like Onami which is across the street in Mission Valley mall better because the food is fresher, there are more selections of everything and bathrooms are a lot cleaner.

Good Buffet

by Capri S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,964

I loved eating here. though i only came here once for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend. The location is not as convenient for people that don't have cars. but the food it overall pretty good. I feel that the price is a little too high for the quality of food they had. I would definitely go back and eat here again. maybe after i get my next paycheck =)

wouldn't eat there again

by CAROL V.

The location in Huntington Beach-we disliked, the sign outside their door shows whole lobsters, crab, sushi which made us want to eat there. When asked where the lobster was on the buffet they served us only a half of lobster(for one time only). The are misleading the consumers we expect to eat what they are advertising as all you can eat.We have a toddler 1 year old. These people charged him a low price because he sat up in the chair. For the price of the buffet this is not the best you need a reality check if you think this is the best.

Poor Quality

by Emma H.

I am not sure why other people have rated this place so high. The food was low quality and there were ants all over the place. The restaurant is dirty and my husband ended up getting sick after eating there (and he eats anything!) Not only is the food bad, but the restaurant is unsanitary as well.

The food was pretty good but I think the price could've been a little lower and the sushi a little fresher. All the hot food was very good and the desserts were good as well!

PROS: Desserts
CONS: Sushi

good eats

by Marie O. | insider Insider | Rank: 21,113

This is the best asian buffet i've been to in a long time. The seafood is great, the atmosphere is nice and the sushi (for a buffet) is good. It's a little pricey, but well worth it for the variety.

awesome food, high pricing.

by Gary K. | insider Insider | Rank: 17,169

You can't go wrong with Todai, especially for a special occasion like a birthday or celebration. It is a seafood buffet, with all types of seafood (fish, lobster, shrimp, crab) and also japanese food like sushi and teriyaki chicken. The meat is top notch and the sushi is very good as well. The pricing is high at 25$, but as an occasional splurge Todai is perfect.

Best buffet

by Hung N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,292

This is definately one of the best buffets in San Diego, depending on what type of food you like the most. For asian food, this is an amazing place, because it has seafood, sushi, and other asian cuisine. One of the things that makes this place stand out is the lobster and crab, which would normally be quite pricey to eat, but at a buffet as well. The entrance fee is a little expensive (near 20 dollars) but its well worth the good food.

this place is delicious!

by Kimberly N. | insider Insider | Rank: 13,819

This is probably the best buffet in san diego in my opinion. They have everything (especially the sushi, its so good!) and have all kinds of asian food. They have the most seafood I have ever seen and manage to keep this place really nice and clean. Its a little pricey, but I'll gladly pay the price for this delicious food.

This place is awesome

by Brian M. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,010

Todai is a great place to eat with the family or a special someone. Anyone else you shouldnt go with because it is quite expensive. I recommend going on your birthday because you get free dinner. This place has a ton of food iranging from traditional sushi and shushimi(however you spell it) to modern desserts.

At 25 dollars, it you can the best bang for your buck

by Peter L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 527

This is one of the classier all you can eat buffets in San Diego. The selection is remarkable. You can eat everything from Sushi is little wrapped hot dogs in this place. The only thing I didnt' like was the price tag for a Dinner. But other than that, Todai is a great place to go when you have that wasabi craze.

Sushi, Shushi, Shashimi, Sushi, Shrimp, Handrolls, Lobster...............................

by Riva M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 522

The list goes on and on of the Japanese Foods that this Buffet has. I have eaten at Todai's all over Southern California. Their fish is FRESH, they have their Sushi chefs there making it all the time. They make you Handrolls to order. They have so many salads, deserts, hot foods (including Tempura), all kinds of Japanese Beers and much much more... At dinner time they have CRAB LEGS......On your birthday you get your meal for free or sometimes they give you a free ticket for the next time you come. Depends on the Todai's you eat at. If you go online you get a 10% off coupon right away.

PROS: Everything is so fresh and the place is CLEAN, It is close to Hotel Circle.
CONS: I always overeat and leave saying WHY DID I EAT SO MUCH
