Old town is a nice place. They have really good mexican restaurants, and the place is really nice with a lot of flowers and cactuses etc. They also have fun little stores with cute little Mexican things.

These people complaining about Old Town being old... COME ON!
Old Town is part of San Diego heritage, it is THE first colony established in California, The southern half of Old Town can be quite touristy although make sure to take a walk over there. Also visit the grave yard south of old town, make sure to look at the streets and notice the little coins labeled "grave site" The grave yard was shortened by about 20 feet many many years ago without moving the occupants (whoops!) It's always fun to suprise a friend with "uh your standing on a dead person". Also towards the north west corner of old town there is an original school house with all original equiptment, It's quite neat to see how children learned in the late 1800's
Make sure to visit the resturants to the very north of Old Town, they have amazing food.
PROS: Amazing atmosphere, quiet area, fun to be found everywhere

My favorite thing to do in Old Town is buy a few fresh tortillas from the carts outside the restaurants and eat them while walking around looking at all the shops. You can buy anything from freshmade taffy and chocolates from the candy store to handmade sliver jewelry just a few stores down. And of course, the mexican food is superb, almost every restaurant is excellent. This is definately a touristy place that locals have fun too.

We really enjoy here. From the restaurants to the little shops, there is quite a bit to see and do here. The Mormon Fort is a terrific place also to visit and watch a film. There is a coffee shoppe that sells coffee from all different parts of the world, candy shop that makes their own taffy to museums and cultural information. Also has a nice selection of shirts and mexican blankets etc., for gifts I did not feel were expensive. Parking on the weekend can be a little hectic, unless you take the Coaster. You can also go on a trolly ride for a nominal fee that takes you on a tour of Old Town. I believe it lasts about 3 hours. This is a nice place to visit, and to walk around is absolutly free.

They think that they ar eso classy because they are in Old Town that they boost their prices way high. In my opinion, I think they should just move to a lower profile location so they can lower their prices because they are ridiculous right now.

I do not really like Old town, just look at the name, it is all old and stuff. I really dont like old stuff because it is not as cool as new stuff. I would much rather go somewhere else than go to old town.

Old Town is a great place if you put aside all the lame historical stuff. Who really wants to see a replica of a chiar the judge sat in? But now with Bazaar Del Mundo gone theres not really anything left.

I love Old Town. If I could, I'd go there every day for lunch (specifically, to Casa De Pico). I didn't particularly care for the food at the Old Town Mexican Cafe though. Old Town is great because there is so much history (which is rare in So. Cal!). The shops are a little bit overpriced and touristy sometimes, but overall it's a fun place to spend the day, especially if you have people visiting from out of town, etc.

Old Town is a great feature of San Diego, especially the Bazaar del Mundo, the many restaurants as well as the leather good shop! The Bazaar del Mundo is a great little city center with many fun shops and lots of Mexican heritage, after all, San Diego was originally founded because of a mission! The restaurants have great authentic Mexican food that is a little expensive but definitely worth it. I especially love the leather shop in Old Town, because I've bought a belt buckle from there.

This is such a sweet part of San Diego. You can stroll down the streets (a little hilly), walk in the park, eat at some of the finest restaurants, shop, mingle with people. There are even hotels/motel there that you can stay at. You literally can spend a few days with all the restaurants that there are there. It is close to all of San Diego's attractions. Right off the freeway at the beginning of town....
PROS: Very trendy place.
