Hipposchemes

I am a huge fan of this outfit owned, operated, designed, staffed etc. by his/her team. Hours are a little off of normal so check before you go. Parking is usually easy and free! Besides their amazing creations, this pair hosts events to local artists and events. Studio/shop will often showcase some up and comer. Join their email list for news of upcoming fashion shows, events, all sorts of community/art sponsored stuff. Very good.

Because its neither on Broadway nor Pine, I think Hipposchemes is often overlooked. But if you like extremely unique clothing, you must walk the few blocks to this store. While recontructed clothing is becoming quite popular these days, no one does it quite like they do. Some of the items will have what looks to be 6 different fabrics stiched togerther-- in a way that is nothing less than genius. Oh, and feel free to bring is that weird skirt or shirt that doesnt fit just right...because they will recontruct it into something you will definitely wear!

But some of Hipposcheme's pieces are a little over the line for my taste. That said, I also feel comfortable saying some of the pieces for sale here are super hot. Hipposcheme's clothing and accessories are like collages you can wear. I'm not certain about their staying power. But when it comes clothes like this, as long as they make it through the event for which you bought them, that's all that matters anyway. Either way, it's local and it's independent and it's not egregiously overpriced. That's hard to beat.
