Pier 39

Pier 39 is one of the many tourist destinations in San Francisco. Its filled with many different shops as well as an aquarium and a carousel. There are also the sea lions that bask in the sunlight as they sit on wooden platforms just a few feet away from the side of the pier.

Pier 39 is a really cool place to go especially if you are touring San Francisco. They have some really neat stores there although their prices are on the expensive side, but what do you expect from a tourist spot. I do like the area where you can watch the sea lions, that at least is free for all.

Pier 39 offers many wondeful attractions and lots of great shops! You can spend an entire day enjoying everything Pier 39 has to offer. But you will pay a price for it as nothing is very cheap!

I would reccommend this place. Its nice. You get to see things you've never seen. Theres a whole bunch of performers outside to entertain you. Whole bunches of resturants so you have many to choose from. Theres a whole lot of people and its quite an experience.

All tourists must make a stop at Pier 39. It's mandatory. You'll hear people equate Pier 39 with the word "trap", but it's not soooo bad, particularly if you know how to avoid the pitfalls of any trap. There are lots of stores carrying knick knacks and seafood restaurants featuring chowder - and of course those infamous sea lions (they're free!) There are a couple of other activities and outings to partake in (but you'll have to pay for those.)

PROS: tourist fun
CONS: can get out of hand if you're not careful!

Pier 39 is a tourist trap, but it has jaws for a reason. #1 sea lions, #2 bay views, and #3 the ferry to Alcatraz Island. Other than that, if you had any desire to buy a poster of Marilyn Monroe or a pearl from an oyster, or ride a merry-go-round, it's all ehre. The most exciting part of Pier 39 is the trip to Alcatraz, which if you have time to kill, is worth ponying up for. Whinny, neigh.

San Francisco stores and restaurants are generally expensive but be prepared to be really ripped off by the over priced rates in this area. The area is always a crowd crushing experience. If you want your souvenirs venture into china town its alot cheaper.

You can see see lions basking in the sun and smell them too. They have been a permenent fixture since the piers were built. If you need to go here for a specific reason, like maybe to catch the ferry to Alcatraz then go but i wouldnt recommend it for much else.

The street performer are ok but you can see those anywhere. I had one run in with a very aggressive rude mime who actually yelled at me (yes a yelling mime). He was annoyed that me and my burmese python were getting more attention than he was.

CONS: Crowded and overpriced one big tourist trap

nice place. nice scenery. rude workers. nice stores and nice aquarium. great place for clam chowder. nice street performers. very fun to be in major holiday events.

this place has the most magnificant scenery and it's perfect for picture taking. the workers were all nice. the place has a lot of things to do. i love the sea animals.

I HAD A LOT OF FUN HERE. THE SEA WAS SO BEAUTIFUL. THE PLACE WAS VERY NICE AND FUN TO BE AROUND. THERE WERE A LOT OF STORES AND I SAW SOME SEALIONS AND ANIMALS AS WELL. THEY ALSO HAVE A CRABBING AREA WHERE YOU CAN GO AND CATCH CRABS. IT'S A VERY NICE PLACE IN SAN FRANCISCO. NICE TO TRAVEL AND WALK.

this is a nice attraction place but it gets really boring after a while. there are retail stores, live animals, restaurants, and events but there isn't as much. it's a nice play though and the best thing about it is the live street performers. the robot guy is the best and he's been there for a really long time.

I LIKE THIS PLACE. IT HAS A LOT TO OFFER. FROM RETAIL STORES, TO LIVE ANIMALS AND AQUARIUMS. IT IS THE BEST. YOU CAN STAY THE WHOLE DAY HERE AND NOT COMPLAIN. THERE ARE FERRY BOATS, AND THEY HOLD SPECIAL EVENTS HERE.

CONS:

This place is near the bay. You can go rent a boat and sail, look at sea lions do whatever they do. Theres plenty of restaurants to chose from and they also have an arcade. Inside the arcade they have bumper cars too! The place is filled with shops for your shopping experience. They also have concerts and comedians to entertain you. They have some pretty fascinating places near by too like the underwater aquarium so you can check out the sharks and fishes.

I couldn't believe it when i saw this place! Pier 39 has several restaurants you can go to OR you can prepare a meal in the galley (and I believe if you pay a little more someone will come and even do that for you!). Most boats have a TV and stereo. Overnight prices (as of 12/03) range from $200 per couple on a 34-foot motorcruiser to $375 a couple on a 50-foot McKinna flush deck motoryacht with 2 bedrooms. At Pier 39 you also get great views, shopping, and even a sea lion colony.

PROS:
CONS: you better save up cuz to me it's pricey to shell out anywhere from 200 to 375/night but such a cool experience!!
