I'm not a big bar fly, but Vesuvio is cool. Located in North Beach, the bar has a neighborhood feel, yet isn't dated or filled with people who need to get jobs. Saturday nights are hopping at Vesuvio and from what I have seen, ages run from early 20s to late 30s. If you don't like packed bars... try another night of the week.

Vesuvio is an old haunt of the beats. Jack Kerouac drank there, and you can still feel the bohemian spirit living strong there to this day. They have a great selection of beers and liquors, and while every margarita I've ever had there has been weak and not too great, the gin and tonics are consistently fantastic. Right in the heart of North Beach, Vesuvio offers a respite from the neighborhood's other yuppie and frat infested bars. Definitely check this one out.
