Great place

by Satish U. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,051

This place is a great fun and educational aquarium. They have lots of exhibits but they are laid out in such a way that you can see all the exhibits faster. Its a great mix of water and land animals and it has lots of learning opportunities. The major disadvantage is that the place is a bit pricey and if the family is large, then it will certainly bite your pocket.

Expensive, but a fun day

by Debby H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,394

Ocean Journey is a great aquarium, but their prices really are too high. And with having to pay extra for parking, it's really too high.
That being said, the exhibits are great! We love the Tigers.
And we went through the Flash Flood probably 5 times!!!
If you find a coupon, or can afford it though it's great!

Worth a visit

by Rebecca J. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,807

Even with any complaint I would have about Ocean Journey, I have to say it is amazing to see all of these creatures. When we went the attraction was under construction. This took away a bit from some of the exhibits. The staff is very helpful and FULL of interesting information. As we were leaving there was a lot of information about what they were doing to improve Ocean Journey, so we are looking to going back again.

Ocean Journey, wild in the water.

by Deb T. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,347

This place was so diverse. It had shark bones, whale bones hanging from the ceilings in the walls. It had tanks with huge eels, fish that you were able almost walk right next to them. You're able to see otters playing in glass tanks that you can view the animals above and below the water. Then, go see the tigers. Watch the birds flying around. Experience a flood. Enjoy the hands-on experience of this acquarium/zoo. It's a great mix of water and land animals along with learning and touching opportunities. All indoors, all year long -- they even have elevators to easily travel to other floors.

PROS: Land and water anmials, bones, everything all indoors.
CONS: We missed the Shark experience in the tents, they come and go.

Smaller than it looks

by Sarah L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,403

Ocean Journey is so expensive to get into and then they have you walk in a big circle around fish that you see everyday in our own rivers, some sharks, and then randomly there are some tigers. I feel like there are only a few ocean creatures, I won't pay that much again.

Pricey But Fun

by Rhonda E. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 10,341

Ocean Journey is a fun, educational experience. The children love to see the variety of sealife. They especially loved the petting tank with the rays. The staff is usually very happy to answer questions about sealife.

That being said it is terribly expensive; almost unrealistically expensive for a large family. Also, we found it easy to complete the whole experience in less than two hours even with an extended visit to pet the rays. Not cost effective. They do not seem to change the displays often either so there is not a reason to go very often.

PROS: Nice Variety of Sea Life, Plenty of Parking
CONS: Way Too Expensive, Not a Lot of Variety in Displays, Too Small

So much to see for kids and adults

by Trinity B. | insider Insider | Rank: 29,190

We love Colorado Ocean Journey. There are so many things to see and do. They have local fish all the way to sharks (and 2 tigers). They have a tank where you can pet the rays. It isn't just that you can see lots of different fish. The atmosphere is so detailed. It makes for a great experience.

PROS: Atmosphere, variety
CONS: a little expensive, unless you have a coupon

Steep cover charge, but lots to see

by Randy P. | insider Insider | Rank: 18,972

Ocean Journey is a pretty neat place to visit, if you have two hours to kill, and $21 to blow. It is $15/adult, plus $6 parking. There is a lot to see, but it is laid out so that it doesn't take long to see it.
There aren't identification placards for the critters, so a lot of times you don't know what the heck you are looking at.
It is currently under construction, so some of the exhibits, and the cafe, are unavailable.
I would recommend waiting until the construction is done, then checking them out. Hopefully they will add enough stuff that it makes it worth what you spend getting in. Right now, I don't think it's worth it. The Denver Zoo's Tropical Discovery is comarable, and that is an all day trip for less than 1/2 the price.

PROS: Neat exhibits, including shark tank!
CONS: Under construction, pricey

Disappointing....

by Chauna P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,264

We spent a ton of money to get our family of 6 in......and then spent about 2 hours inside. There are some neat exhibits, but just not much to see. It is WAY too pricey for what you get. We won't be back.

Sorry, But It's Not Goood Enough

by Lalaena F. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,662

I've been to aquariums throughout the US, including Baltimore, Chicago and Miami, and Ocean Journey just doesn't compare. -The fish are hard to identify, and the place just doesn't hold you for more than a few hours. It's pricey, and there are no shows like at other aquariums. Sorry to say that you can find a pretty comparable display at the Denver Zoo.

The sites we saw

by Cora R. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,072

when I first visited Ocean Journey My son loved it. So we bought a membership. Since our membership expired when have been there maybe twice. It Has gone under concstruction since Laundry's bought it. So there are some nicer things there. But it seems a little run down, even dirty. It was like that before they started the construction, so hopefully when it is done it will look much nicer. I felt for the price of the trip I could have gone to the Denver Zoo's Tropical Discovery and seen just as many different kinds of fish. Granted we wouldn't see the sharks but everything else seems the same.

Neat fish but pricey

by amy c. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,141

This place is pretty cool but you won't spend much time here. The place can be covered easily in 2 hours and then you stand there with the kids wondering what to do next.

PROS: Neat fish
CONS: Not much for the $$

Fun aquarium

by Regina R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,366

This aquarium follows two rivers from their source to the ocean: the Colorado River and the Indonesian River. Along the way, you'll see the various types of fish and wildlife native to each region.

Especially fun to watch are the river otters, tigers, and a tunnel where you walk under the shark aquarium and it feels like you're underwater. A new exhibit lets you put your hand in the water and touch stingrays!

It's a little expensive ($15 for adults, plus $6 parking), but I thought it was well worth a visit.
