Best Medical Practice in New York
Office is usually as busy as Bloomingdale's on Saturday afternoon, but the quality of care, the human concern, and the problem solving efficiency and sense of urgency and follow-up are second to none. Dr Yaffe's talents in his profession are world class, as is his network of specialists to solve specific issues. In my opinion, Yaffe/Ruden is one of, if not the best practices in the city of New York...and that's quite an accomplishment.

Twenty Years and still caring‎
Twenty Years and still caring - carynbresnick - May 23, 2008
My physical was scheduled for 1 pm. I had to be back in my office by 2:30 and didn't want to cancel. I checked the website, they were running on time. I arrived at 1:05, Dr. Yaffe was waiting for me! I had a thorough physical exam, we caught up on the kids and how time has flown by, we discussed some new cutting edge medicine, storing your own stem cells, and even had time for a politcial discussion. I was on my way downtown at 2:00 on time for my meeting. Great medical care with a personal touch. Who could ask for more.!

all show and no knowledge
The glitz of their showy website should be the first warning that they are more interested in self-promotion than actual medical care.
I ended up going here because my regular doctor was out and I was in excruciating pain. Someone suggested them as they are so large and would see me that day. What a waste of time and money.
The PA I saw listened to my symptoms and before I even finished decided what she thought was wrong with me. Then she asked if she should examine me. What kind of question was that? I showed her where the pain was and the mass I felt and she was like, oh, that's nothing, you just need some cream and you'll be fine. I will see if I can get the dr in here but she's v. busy. Bad service and no bedside manner either. She was v. young and v. clueless.
She must have told the dr her theory because the dr walked in and just started spewing her ideas of what I should do because she assumed the PA was correct. I kept telling her, as I had the PA, that it was NOT what they were thinking, this was something I never experienced before, there WAS a mass under my skin and it needed to be examined. The dr herself asked if she wanted me to examine her. I've never been to a dr's office where this wasn't something a dr didn't do normally. She finally did examine me and said that there seemed to be "some inflammation" but that was all. She kept to her PA's theory and all I needed was some cream. Well, I was in more agony that night, and by the next day I could barely move. I ended up in the ER and to make a long story short I had to have surgery to remove a nice size abscess. Every dr that looked at me in the ER felt it straight away and they put me on morphine the moment after they examined me because of the pain. They asked why I hadn't got to the dr sooner, and I said I did, yesterday, when the pain started and they told me nothing was there. They were in shock as you couldn't miss it.
So, stay away from this place if you want to avoid pain and suffering. If I had been diagnosed on Friday, I would have been in the hospital directly, had the surgery and avoided extra days of pain and misery.

This doctor's office is great- I would not go anywhere else
I have been a patient here since 1995. The doctors and staff here are helpful, efficient and polite.
I have always been able to get a same day appointment when I was not feeling well (which is VERY important to me). I never have had to wait longer than 20 minutes to be seen.
My only complaint is that they ask the pharmacy to call there for refills (as opposed to them calling them in).

Took my chart and will never go back
When I first visited the Yaffe Ruden website, I was impressed that they had an "on time" section, which relayed information for which MD's were running late so that you can check to see what time you need to come for your appointment. However, this "on time" section is more of a theory than a report of the office's timely status. My first two appointments, supposed to be "on time" according to the website, were an hour late. Not horrible, but that is an hour more that I take off from my work and my clients. I was also not impressed by the physician himself. He did not address the main problem I was having that brought me in, giving little advice, and instead focused on a heart murmur that I have had since birth which I have already had an echocardiogram for. In a word, he was useless. But the final straw was when I returned to have my TB test read (which takes about 10 seconds, 1 minute to write on my chart). I waited two hours, and was never seen. I finally left because it was 1/2 hour before their close, everyone was leaving, and I had no chance of being seen. I took my chart and will never go back.

Dr. Yaffe was my PCP
I was a former patient at Dr. Yaffe's office. The doctor's office is too big for my taste. The waiting area is nice, with a computer to check the web and plenty of magazines to help pass the waiting time. It was not that easy to get appointments, especially for the first physical check-up. They have a cool website. Even though Dr. Yaffe was my PCP, I rarely saw him personally. I was usually seen by the younger doctors on staff.
PROS: nice waiting area
CONS: impersonal, incontinuity of service with many doctors on staff

They will see you same day!!
Yaffe, ruden & Associates are a spectacular group of caring doctors who are very knowledgable and up-to-date! The waiting area is very bright and airy and is such a nice touch when you're feeling miserable. They have a MAC computer set up for your surfing enjoyment while you wait and it passes the time very quickly! They always require that you have your insurance card available, but don't take it personal, it's for your benefit! Located on the NE side of 65th street in the middle of the block with a black gate, lobby is down stairs
PROS: will see you the same day
CONS: can be hard to find the first visit
