Don't go here with an hour to spend; go here with a day to spend, it's that good. Racks upon racks of clothing, some vintage, that you'd be lucky to find in a thrift store and which on a good day are comparable to what you'd find in a department store -- a funky department store. As the name suggests, they will also buy your clothing and even barter it.

From 9-5 I am mostly in suits and ties. Boring. In the evening and on the weekends, I like to let loose and have fun. I like shopping here because you find things that other people just do not have. I hate wearing what everyone else is, malls are NOT my thing! Red Light always has cool and unusual items the are simply too cool to pass up.

I have been to the red light a hundred different times... usually I will find something (they do have tons of stuff)... but rarely am I satisfied with my purchase. Most recently I bought a vintage dress, but when I got it home I noticed TONS of itsy bitsy moth holes and MILDEW stains that were not seen in the dark lighting of the store. You'd be better of shopping a reputable vintage dealer. (e.g. Lady Luck on SE 28TH Ave ).

The Red Light has been a favorite of mine for a whilea more dramatic alternative to Buffalo Exchange sans the J. Crew crowd. The service isnt all that helpful and they dont really care whether or not youre happy with your purchases, but it all goes with the aura of this place and makes a happy hipster feel right at home.
PROS: not your typical
CONS: things a little torn up sometimes

The aroma of incense immediately invokes the feeling of a laid back new-age hippy environment. A funky, eclectic crowd frequents the store where your old clothing treasures can be turned into money or store credit. Clothes that can be worn for costumes or truly unique styles are a thrill to sort through. Prices can be more than you might expect at a thrift store but mighty neat clothes do exist.

The Red Light funky and still fairly priced, compared to some of other vintage stores about town. The merchandise moves quickly, so there's always new things to check out every few days. As a bustier gal, I have a hard time finding things that fit properly in that area. I have lots of letdowns in the dressing room....but overall, good place.
PROS:
CONS: Things tend to run small.

redlight is the kind of store where you feel like you are being sized up and picked apart the moment you enter the door. they have some gems, but overall the selection isn't the best. they are also rather expensive. the one main perk was that they used to have an old b/w photobooth in the store, but it seems that's been long gone.

Like Buffalo Exchange, The Red Light is a great place to sell your old clothes to buy new-to-you items to add to your wardrobe. They have a large selection, especially in the womens section. It is almost a little overwhelming to try to search through their selection to find what you like. If you dont mind taking the time to search for what you want to wear, it is a good place to find cool clothes for cheap.

This place is quite popular with all the "hipsters" that are so prevelant on Hawthorne Blvd. I love their accessories and have found many vintage handbags and shoes there to add to my collection. I must say that I am not so impressed with their clothing prices, though. C'mon $10 for a used t-shirt? From the Gap? I can get them at the Gap for $10 on sale. The staff is not helpful but I suffer through it for the accessories!
