Terrific Cut and Gabriel is my guy
Called up on a whim to see if I could get a cut quickly before the holidays. The staff was grace under pressure, even the coat check lady.
By the luck of the draw, I got Gabriel. I don't have any vocabulary to describe how I wanted to look, but Gabriel knw exactly what I wanted and gave it to me. My new cut is better than I ever imagined it could be.
Gabriel-you're my go-to guy!
Thanks and happy holidays to all!.

Greatest Hair Stylist!!!
We were out to lunch one day and I was admiring Mirandas hair. We have been best friends for 13 years and I have never seen her look so amazing she was just glowing. Her attitude was even different. She was much more confident, happier just exuding sexiness. I wondered....How can a haircut do this to one person? I have always fought with my hair, I have paid as little as $40 for a cut and as high as $400 for a cut and still have yet been happy with the finished result.
I had to ask her for the number she explained to me that she freelances and that she would come to my house. That was even better! I contacted Elle spoke with her on the phone. She informed me that she did dry haircuts and use to work at John Sahag, she spoke so highly of her experience at Sahag and sounded so knowledgeable. That was actually one palce that I had never been to but wanted to go. I made the arrangements and she arrived at my apt. Elle put me at ease immediately.I felt so comfortable I knew that I made the right decision. It is truly amazing to watch her cut. She truly understands the art of hair. My hair looked amazing even when I woke up the next morning. I never have a bad hair day anymore. Thank you so much hair goddess! I will leave Elle's email address here for all nycelle212atgmaildotcom or you can email me directly and I will provide you with her number. discreetladyatgmaildotcom

wonderful
omg!! I have never been to a salon where they are so helpful. I walked in there one day because i was curious on what the place was and they were kind enough to show me around. Then they offered me a complimentary consultation. So, then i made an appointment with Karmela. She was so nice and made me look so beautiful. My hair has never moved and looked this way ever. They made me feel so comfortable. I also stop by once in awhile just to say hi and they even touch up my hair if they have time complimentary. I love it...

Terrible, terrible, terrible
I can't tell you how rude the people who worked there were. It started off with a rude lady at the desk. I walked out and would never go back. I could care less how good they cut hair. They, especially John Sahag, should teach his staff how to act to everyone who comes into the salon, not just the rich and famous.

Terrible, Terrible
Without a doubt had the single worst haircut of my life at this place. Had read about this place the world over and so while in NY on business I tried it out. I got a stylist who was completely rude to me, cut off 3 inches more than I asked him to, when I asked him to stop cutting so much, he practically told me to shut up. I almost cried in the chair. I ended up not paying for the cut, the stylist ended up 'leaving' the salon, but I wouldn't get my hair cut here again for all of the tea in China. This was the single most terrible hair experience I've ever had - STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS
PROS: None
CONS: Terrible Skills, Rude/Indifferent Receptionists, Sky High prices

I DREAM OF MY HAIR GENIE- GABRIEL!!
DO YOU WANT ALL YOUR HAIR WISHES TO COME TRUE? GABRIEL IS THE GENIE TO GRANT IT!! WHILE HE JOKINGLY WILL TELL YOU THAT HIS COMB IS NOT A MAGIC WAND-I BEG TO DIFFER- HE GAVE ME A MAGAZINE STYLE HAIRCUT THAT MADE ME FEEL LIKE A COVERGIRL FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE. NOW I WAITED TO WRITE THIS REVIEW TO SEE IF IT WAS A FLUKE BUT AFTER 3 CUTS HE HAS CONFIRMED HIS TRUE WIZARD STATUS!
THE FIRST TIME I HEARD ABOUT GABRIEL, WAS WHEN I WAS LUCKY TO BE BACKSTAGE AT A BON JOVI CONCERT. THERE WAS THIS GIRL THERE WITH HAIR THAT I WAS COVETING. MY BOYFRIEND, AN ACTOR, KNEW HER AS A WARDROBE STYLIST FOR THE S@X IN THE CITY MOVIE. HE INTRODUCED US AND I RAVED ABOUT HER CUT. SHE TOLD ME THAT HAD DISCOVERED GABRIEL ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO FROM OTHER FASHION STYLISTS IN THE CITY. SHE SAID THAT ALTHOUGH HE WAS TALL, DARK AND MORE THAN HANDSOME, HE WAS THE GREATEST HAIRSTYLIST THAT SHE HAD BEEN TO. THE FOLLOWING WEEK I PHONED AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT.
. AFTER HIS ASSISTANT SAT ME IN HIS CHAIR, GABRIEL APPEARED AND MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT. THIS GUY WAS GORGEOUS AND A ROCKER!!!! WE CONSULTED ABOUT WHAT I WANTED- WHICH I REALLY DIDNT KNOW SINCE I WAS IN A REAL HAIRSTYLE SLUMP-GABRIEL HAD SUCH GREAT ENERGY AND PUT ME AT EASE THAT I WAS CONFIDENT IN LETTING HIM DO WHAT HE SUGGESTED.
45 MINUTES LATER I FELT REBORN. MY NEW HAIR WAS EDGY BUT NOT CRAZY, GLAM BUT DOABLE BY SOMEONE WHO DOESNT HAVE TREMENDOUS PATIENCE IN THE MORNING. HOWEVER, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I WAS A KID, I NOW HAD BANGS. I ASKED HIM HOW TO CUT THEM WHEN THEY GOT TOO LONG AND GABRIEL TOLD ME THAT WHENEVER I NEEDED THEM TRIMMED IN BETWEEN CUTS, JUST CALL AND HE WOULD DO IT FOR FREE. WHAT A SWEETHEART!! TRUE TO HIS WORD, HE HAS AND HE HAS NEVER MADE ME FEEL LIKE IT WAS AN IMPOSITION.
I LOVE THE TIME I SPEND WITH HIM (I ENVY HIS GIRLFRIEND) BUT EVEN MORE I ADORE THE WAY MY HAIR LOOKS. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND MAKE YOUR OWN WISHES COME TRUE- GO TO GABRIEL.
Pros: gabriel's skill patience talent
Cons: none

Johnny is a rock star with scissors
Today, I had the best haircut of my life. Ive serviced many top salons in the city and most of the time, walked out disappointed. Johnny changed all that. Firstly, a comment about the dry cut experience its off the hook! It was my first time getting one and I loved it! Johnny explained the principle to me before he started cutting and put me at ease. I showed him a picture of the cut I wanted and explained to him that I loved the cut and wanted my hair to someone resemble it - he did one better I actually liked it better than the picture when I left.
Johnny clearly explained that the cut is was matters throughout the experience not having you leave with a style you cant recreate the next day and what an amazing experience it was to see my hair transform into something edgy, precise, and exactly what I wanted.
A bit about Johnny he is truly an artist. Many stylist call themselves artists but Johnny emanates it. He is totally edgy and funky and looks like a rock star in appearance but yet down to earth and connects with you immediately when talking about your hair. You can see how seriously he takes you as a client and becomes absorbed in his work as an artist when cutting your hair.
Dont care about the cost when considering. Its the best investment you can make for yourself. Im lined up for highlights next week. A comment about that as well Santino- another amazing artist (check him out on their website) was kind enough to test a piece of my hair to make sure I liked it before my upcoming appointment. I was blown away by that. Having the attention of 4 people over a test highlight made me feel like a rock star too! Santino showed genuine interest making sure I will be happy with my highlights! The salon is truly an experience and it was fun as well. Thanks Johnny! You rock!
Pros: Beautiful salon, and Johnny!
Cons: not finding this salon sooner

Frank's color Rocks!!!
Frank changed my life. He's the senior colorist at John Sahag, knows his color and how it interacts with hair and explains the process thoroughly. Frank is a genius with hair color and is also very down-to-earth and attentive. He understands my fine, mousey brown hair and makes it looks beautiful every time with depth and shine. If I want to tweak it a bit, he gets it. If I want to go too far, he talks me back down to earth. I get compliments on my hair color all the time (even from other hair stylists) and feel younger every time I leave the workshop.
I recently decided to go short and got a cut from Johnny. He did fabulous wash and go style. I never have to style my hair anymore. Frank and Johnny are an amazing combo.
Pros: Knowlegable, yet creative staff. Relaxing and spacious atmosphere.
Cons: none

Fabulous wash-and-go haircut by Gabriel
After reading positive reviews on Citysearch, I made an appointment with Gabriel at the John Sahag Workshop. I was not disappointed - it was without question the best haircut I've ever had and I am now a regular. Even if I moved to Hawaii, I'd travel to have my hair cut by Gabriel and, in fact, there are people who travel great distances to see him. He has given me a short, modern haircut that looks feminine and stylish but requires absolutely no effort at all. I shower and run a comb through my hair and I'm ready to go. How many women can say that? There really is something to the whole process of the dry cut, as well as the fact that Gabriel spends a full hour doing a very thorough job which is reflected in a fabulous cut. Gabriel is charming, as is everyone else who works at the salon especially the girls at the front desk. I love the fact that they allow plenty of time for each appointment and you never feel rushed. This is also true of the colorists - based on my positive experience with Gabriel, I recently had highlights with Frank who did an outstanding job and I will be going back to him regularly. They are all consummate professionals at John Sahag and reasonably priced by Manhattan standards.

Johnny-Hottest new stylist to Hollywood's celebs!
OK--not yet but anytime now. And then it will be impossible to book an appointment with him. I am not connected in any way to the salon or Johnny but am a former longtime beauty editor for a national magazine and have worked with almost every famous celeb stylist (including John Sahag himself who has also cut and styled my hair). Since I have switched careers, I no longer have the access that I previously had, so I have booked appointments all over the city at major (and minor salons) to attempt to find the quality cut that I am used to. NO success until I happened upon Johnny at John Sahag Salon. He is a precisioned cutter and a true artist who understands individual hair growth patterns and not since Sam McKnight (eventually Princess Diana's stylist and previously dozens of other top celebrities) have I seen such talent. Beyond that, he is a hoot to be with and a total gentleman. My advise it to get him while you can! I have short hair and most accredited stylist's give me a textbook cut ("ladies who lunch" type) that sends me into fits of internal agony and force me to take a scissor to my own hair. Johnny corrected, designed and crafted a cut for me that made me feel 10 years younger and was the look I had been searching for since I left my editor-privileged days. Don't think twice about the cost.
Pros: Talented staff
Cons: Salon decor ready for a makeover
