Garden of Eden

I just returned from a NYC food tour from PA. I purchased 2 loaves of packaged breads at a "2 for" price. I had to correct the cashier for charging the wrong price, one loaf a higher amt. When I returned to PA and happen to look at my receipt, she still charged me separately for both loaves of bread. I was only overcharged $4 but it seems, from reading other reviews, it's becoming a habit???

My roommates and I frequent the garden of Eden on 14th street. The selection of good and foods is fantastic, all very high quality and fresh. Unfortunately we will never shop there again. They overcharged me about $12 on a $55 purchase. Not a big deal, I went in and politely asked for the credit. After the cash register woman (who was very nice) got the manager, we bickered back and forth for about 10 minutes. He was extremely rude, called me a liar and refused to review the register tapes upon request. To make a long story short I left without my refund. Normally I don't care about a few misplaced dollars here or there, but since he was so rude I disputed the payment with my credit card company. I refuse to shop in an establishment that treats their customers poorly. So for $12 they forfeited hundreds of dollars in future business. It's too bad, I really liked going there.

They have a really good selection of cheeses, organic foods, fresh and healthy produce and more. The baked goods are ok, but the prepared foods could be better. The staff is helpful.

I've never had a bad piece of fruit from the Garden of Eden. Their breads are wonderful, and there's a good selection of cheeses as well. The pre-made salads are excellent. During high traffic times, it can be pretty claustrophobic in here, but it is Manhattan after all.

Two things I love about this gourmet food market: they have free samps pretty much every day (fruit, crackers, cheese, etc.), and their store brand of Mexican-style guacamole is awesome. Of course they are expensive like all of these places are.

I love the garden of eden. They are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. There selection is huge. They have imported cheesed, fresh baked breads, fruit galore.

What a Manhattan grocery store ought to be! Improted and domestic groceries -- all high quality. Fresh meats and cheeses. Therir prepared foods are delicious. And they sell an incredible cheesecake in the dessert section.
