Maybe we've been to too many children's museums (EdVenture in Columbia, New Orleans Children's Museum-preKatrina, Stong's Museum in Rochester), but this one seems old and unkempt. The kids room might have been redeeming if the train table had even one train on it. And, there were the same two trucks to play with that we have at home. Nothing to trigger imagination or deep thought. All the manipulatives could be used only one way, nothing to test, prove, or learn exactly. We were done in an hour, and that was stretching it.

This is a great museum for people of all ages. You can learn about everything that has to do with Science and History. They have a great dinosaur display. My son said they even let them hold a snake. This place great not only can you learn a lot you can also have a great time. This is great for a family outing.

PROS: Something the whole famile can do together
CONS:

This place is great! The kids love it! There is so much for them to do & so much for them to learn. All the hands on stuff is the best because kids want to touch everything & here they can! The place is always clean & the staff is always friendly & helpful. I highly recomend.

PROS: Fun, fun, fun!
CONS: none.

We took a trip to Jacksonville last month for a change of scenery and decided to visit the MoSH there. Our little one is a dinosaur fanatic and it just so happens that they had an animated dinosaur exhibit featured at the time. We spent most of the afternoon in that exhibit alone with the little guy telling us what each dinosaur was, marveling at the fact that they were actually moving, and just enjoying him running around from reptile to reptile.

Our older two children were a little bored but still thought the Planetarium show was semi-interesting (little man loved it of course) and the other exhibits as well. They're just not museum type people I'm thinking. I personally enjoyed the slow pace because I could actually keep up with everyone for once!

The little children's corner where kids can play is cute as well. It has a large water table, "treehouse", train table, and several activities for the smaller kids to play with if parents just want to sit and catch their breat for a minute.

Definately worth the visit especially if you have the ASDI Museum Memberships (where you get in over 200 museums countrywide for free).

PROS: dinosaur exhibit
CONS: a little anal about when they will give you tickets to the planetarium.

Great exhibits and events are happening at the MOSH. There's always something to learn when you go to the MOSH, they feature a Planetaruim show for space enthusiasts, and if that doesn't peak your interest, you can experience the underwater life of the majestic mammals that inhabit our waters. See life-sized models of some of these mammals and interact with this hands-on exhibit! There are plenty of activities to keep you and the family busy and excited!
Fees: Adults : $7.00, Seniors (55 + ) : $5.50, Active Military : $5.50, Children (3 - 12) : $5.00, Members & ASTC : FREE.

PROS: Totally awesome for all ages!
CONS: Situated downtown-avoid rush hour!
