Safe, Spohisticated, and hip for off-Strip-pers!
The District @GVR is well appointed for an upscale shopping experience, with national brands, a nice art gallery and also very nice local merchants, especially Argento Jewelry - GREAT prices and Asian sophistication! GVR casino gusets enjoy the fresh air and easy strolling. But you can feel at ease in cutoff shorts and t-shirt as well. Pets and kids have shops of their own, and families and singles will all find their 'cool' space somewhere here. However, punk-style posturing and gesturing is not tolerated. Security is prominent and visible in order to deter social acting out. Golf, gambling, gourmet, glamour, girlie stuff, guy stuff, gotta-have-it stuff, it's all here.

Terrible place to be!
The District at Green Valley Ranch used to be a great place to visit and be. But, it is almost impossible for someone to get a parking spot, and the Elephant Bar's service has also gone downhill. The only thing great is that it is dog-friendly. The District has strict security that is also very rude to minors. Sharper Image also will not allow 5 minors in the store at a time. REI has great classes as well. Balboa Pizza is also reasonably priced. When your at the District everyone also acts like snobs. The surrounding area, Green Valley Ranch is not upscale, so don't try to act upscale, I know, since I live there.
PROS: REI, dog-friendly, Elephant Bar, if service is good, Balboa Pizza
CONS: lack of parking, terrible security, snobby attitudes

Not the normal shopping experience
A great place to go to after the sunset. Every Friday there is a live band (sometimes Saturdays) that performs outside at the District. The lighted walkway offers a comfortable walk with even if you do not have intent to shop. The west end of The District is close to the Green Valley Ranch Movie Theaters. Parking is sometimes hard to find at night. Also it is home to good food (especially the Elephant Bar).

Nice little Mall
The District at Green Valley Ranch is a nice little mall. It looks cool. They have a few shops and restaraunts. Perfect for a hour or 2 stop. They have apartments in the top of the buildings so you could even live here if you really wanted to. Its right next door to the Green Valley Ranch Station Casino if you want to go there.

The District
This is such a nice and new development with several eateries and shops. Outside walking through the open mall there are multiple misters to help cool you off from the heat. Free weekend entertainment. Ample parking.
PROS: Very nice atmostphere and FREE weekend entertainment

Leaving Las Vegas
With gas prices as they are, getting away from it all has become restrictive.
Just a few miles from the Strip is an enchanting place called The District at Green Valley Ranch.
Modeled after a village, you can treat yourself to seafood, bbq, mexican, ice cream, hotdogs... whatever your budget.
Shopping is a wonderfulm no crows, no rush experience but oh, those summer nights (Fridays and Saturdays) bring FREE outdoor concerts with varied entertainers and music,
Did I mention the concerts are FREE?
Bring your pooch on a leash they're welcomed here, retailers even have water bowls outside for them.
If gas is no longer affording you little trips like this one, you can live there! Lofts over the shops are selling quickly.
PROS: Concerts, Wonderful Shopping, assorted dining opportunities .

Beware
One thing you have to be careful with at this place is during the hours of 12 noon and 6pm the parking lot becomes extremely full and finding a parking space can be almost impossible. You will see a host of cars driving around in circles looking for open spaces. The minute someone leaves, that space is immediately taken. People tend to get very touchy and I've seen several incidents of people screaming at each other, and others driving wildly out of sheer frustration. When I eat lunch there I try to go around 3pm and I find that it's quite accessible at that time. So try and pick your times when you arrive, if possible.

New York comes to Las Vegas
The District is unlike anything that's ever been in the Las Vegas Area. It is at the 215 expressway and Green Valley Ranch adjacent to the Green Valley Ranch Casino and houses what looks like an old-fashioned New York Street. On the first level of the mult-colored brownstone type buildings are businesses including Panera Bread, Elephant Bar (nine restaurants in all) and Sharper Image, Williams-Sonoma and REI. You can relax in the courtyard with a cup of coffee or listen to street entertainers. There are events all year long and music in the evenings -- either live or piped in. There are even areas where you can walk your dog and they have paper to clean up after it. Many businesses put out bowls with water for your pets. Above the businesses and restaurants are lofts and condos for sale. They are probably all sold out by now and at the end of the street is the famous Green Valley Ranch Casino (Discovery Channel on Thursday Nights runs their reality series). Some of the events include arts and crafts for the children. It's a fine new place to come to when you visit the area.
PROS: Most events are free and it's fun to sit on a bench and watch the people.
CONS: Probably much too expensive to live in and the shops are expensive.
