Fun for the Family
We've taken our children here a few times. As you slowly descend into the depths of the ocean gazing through the belly of a sunken ship you get to see all sorts of rare and common species of alligators, fish, and marine life. It is breath-taking as you see so many beautiful colors of fish and get to see not only sharks swimming around you but sea turtles too! We will go back as often as we can as it is a great learning experience for the kids especially when they get to touch animals in a shallow pool full of baby sharks, horseshoe crabs, and others.

Really great shark reef and aquarium
Right inside of the Mandalay Bay resort is this shark reef. It's an aquarium with headphones for a guided tour. Nice place to take a break and stroll, whether for adults or kids. You feel like you walk forever through the resort to find it though, so don't get discouraged! Worth checking it out. They will take your picture and try to sell it to you as you leave.

Well worth the trip
While not as impressive as Sea World San Diego, this aquarium is definitely worth the trip. All the exhibits seem well maintaned and the animals all looked healthy and well cared for and there is a good variety of animals to see.. The self guided tour is very educational and well put together. Surpisingly it took us over an hour to go through the whole exhibit. I'm sure with kids it would be easy to spend a whole afternoon there. I think their admission price is a little high, but if your willing to wait, I do know that they do different promotions throughout the year that will offer free admission to kids.

A family place
MAndalay Bay Shark Reef is a great afternoon visit for your family. The touch displays are great for your small children. My children really enjoyed the creature they were able to touch and examine. It is really cool to be under the shark tank looking up at the fish and sharks through the glass. It feels like your are swimming with them.

Again and again
Every time we have family in town on vacation we end up at the Shark Reef. It is like you are taken into the jungles of the Amazon and the animals are so close you can almost touch them. The wand that is your tour guide is semi-annoying but tolerable if you are interested in learning about all the different species of animals and fish thay have at the aquarium. They offer a special discount for locals but the usual rate is reasonable for tourists. The sunken pirate ship at the end of the tour is awesome. Being able to touch the sting-rays is a unique experience and very cool.

The casino is noce and clean and a place where your children are welcome. They offer school tours as well so teachers can take their classes.

They have people there that will anwser any questions your have or they will tell you about the fish. I like the part were you were about to play with some of the creatures that was really cool. I would totally go here if your thinkin about it.

Great for Vegas
I never thought we'd ever get an aquarium in Vegas, but we did. It's not very big, but it's great for the kids. You get a discount for showing Nevada ID, so it's not too expensive, but I probably would gawk at the full price admission, since it doesn't have a lot of exhibits. There always seems to be a long line to get in, and you have to walk all the way through the Mandalay Bay to reach the aquarium. It's unfortunate that once you exit, you can't go back in again. There is no hand stamp system. You pretty much walk through the exhibits from one end to the next, and then you're out, but my daughter still had a great time. It was pretty humid inside, so the ladies won't like what their hair will look like when they're done. Of course the gift shop was lots of fun.
PROS:
CONS: The long walk to get there from parking

Too Expensive
I guess for a shark reef, this venue has alot to offer, but it is boring! It's also very expensive! It only takes about 20 minutes to walk through and it costs like $15 to get in.

It's a fun place to discover what lives in the ocean!
The Mandalay Bay Shark Reef is always lots of fun. There are always many sharks to watch and learn about. The kids love to just sit and watch all of the fish in their natural habitat. This is a great learning experience for all! I would recommend everyone to check this out at least once.

Fun place to go.
I went here for the first time on my 22nd birthday and I felt like a little kid again, all the fish and different sea life were so amazing to look at as well as read/hear about on the tour guide phone they give you to walk you through. I was told by a friend that if your there when they feed the peranas that it is very cool, I was lucky enough to get to see the Hammer head shark that has since past away. Its great for kids and very educational.

Fun time!
We took our 2 year old daughter here and she had a good time! Enjoyed watching the fish/sharks/etc. swim around her, only draw back is they would not give her a headset so she had to use mine... and she listened to every word on it!

It's great to be a local...
This shark reef is really cool. You could walk through in ten minutes, or take an hour or two perusing the fish selection. I was surprised at how well it held my two year olds attention. If you are a local, there is a discount, and children under 4 are always free.

You can pet fish!!!
This was an incredible experience. My 2 year old daughter just loved it!!! You see everything from sharks, jellyfish and crocodiles to small rays that you can touch in a small pool. you can see divers in the tanks. Every visitor gets a "wand" which if held to your ear describes the display. Unfortunately a 2 year old doesn't quite grasp that concept so those were not much use. They have a gift shop at the end where you can but pictures and souveniers. Nevada residents get a discount with their Nevada ID.

Beyond Expectations
The Shark Reef was very child friendly. They give you a device that is a cross between a cell phone and a remote control. You type in the number of the reptile or fish in a tank and it will tell you information about it. There is so much wild life down there and it is so beautiful. There is also a petting area where the children can pet Horseshoe Crabs and small Manta Rays. The sharks are also a sight to see. You must check it out.
PROS: Nevada residents get a discount on admission.

Educational
I've brought mykids there a few times and they constantly ask me to go, it's becoming an averyday thing. My son is now 4, he was 3 the last time I brought him to the reef. He got a book with information in it when I brought and carries it around with him everywhere we go and calls it his shark book. My 2 year old daughter wants to go again because her older brother wants to. The last time we went I was still pregnant with my third child, she's now 3 months and I can't wait to bring her.

Too much money
It will cost you $52 for a family of four to walk in the door and spend the next 45 minutes to an hour wandering around the Shark Reef. It's just too much money. Inside, you get one of those sticks with a speaker to guide you around the aquariums. Although it's very informative, you'll find it difficult to listen if you are there with a child, and nearly impossible to get your child to do anything but play with the buttons. Parts of the aquarium are steamy and humid to simulate the animal's environment, but to humans, it's just uncomfortable. Other parts are too dark and scary for the little ones. It is cool to see the sharks swimming all around you at the end of the tour, but it just isn't worth the expense. $52 and you still have to get your kid a souvenir!

A fun place for the whole family.
I just recently came across the sharks reef. It is the best addition to las vegas in a long time. It is something that is great for everyone. Young or old, you will enjoy your time spent here. They have a giant aquarium with every kind of fish. It is relaxing and soothing to watch all this swim around you. yes, you walk through a huge aquaruim. M y son's especially liked all of the sharks. They swim so close, it is a definite good time to be had by all. At the end of the tour, you get the chance to pet a stingray. This is great for small kids. I believe they even had starfish to hold too. These were always my favorite. This would be money well spent.

I killed an hour or two!
Wow, this a fun and educational place to go! I recently took my mom and we strolled the reef for hours! It was such a great way to spend the day when it was too hot to much outside! It is reasonably priced offering NV resident discounts. It is clean. It is beautiful. It is educational. It is a very nice place! I will keep it mind when friends from out of town visit and want to drag me to the strip! Check it out!
PROS: educational, clean, beautiful, well priced, facinating, fun, indoors.
CONS: none!

Very cool!
We loved this place. There was so much to see and I felt I could have stayed there so much longer!! Be sure to stop at the "touch" pool. there is a variety of sea creatures you are able to just reach out and pet. You can get the "self-guided" tour for a fee that comes with fish ID cards. Also, the "sea" tunnel is really great!! I could go on and on about this place.
PROS: Great attraction...

A great place to take the kids in Vegas
I live near Las Vegas, but rarely visit the strip. I make the exception when youngsters come to visit. Then we head to the Shark Reef at the Mandalay Bay Resort. Parking is free. It's along walk from the parking lot to the Shark Reef, but it's a lovely walk that takes you past some shops and restaurants and by windows that look out on their lush grounds and wave pools. The Shark Reef is pricey at $15.95 for adults, $9.95 for kids 12, but there's a discount for locals when you show your Nevada Driver's License. The price is well worth it. There are not just fish, there's an alligator (or is it a crocodile?) and lizards. There's a large touch tank with a docent ready to give you information. The exhibits are beautiful, including a tunnel where you can watch the fish swim around you. It is really a lovely way to spend an afternoon!
PROS: Beautiful exhibits
CONS: Pretty pricey for a family.
